3 primary age kids. One parent left who won’t leave their house except the shops much less come anywhere near me or the kids. Inlaws in a similar position.
Primary school closed. It won’t be 2 weeks - it will be far longer than that.
Husband full time work.
I work part time as much as I can around school but not critical worker.
How do women work now?
@GoldenOmber. The Scottish situation is equivalent to promoting child neglect, especially of young children and toddlers. It is impossible to work from home and adequately supervise under 5s.
Agreed.

@OppsUpsSide. Helpful! You were trying to be clever and failed miserably. I grew up between Leeds and York. I know both areas very well and don’t need to be told what tiers they’re in.

What are you talking about? I have no interest where you grew up! I was trying to help because I thought OP said her DC were YR and 1, whatever actually you’re clearly not worth my time and I don’t owe you any kind of explanation what so ever.

“Children and women punished”
Yes those selfish people for dying

Wonder how many people complaining are cunts who haven’t obeyed the rules or been wearing masks

Schools should have been closed down months ago

Have obeyed the rules from the start (even over the Christmas period) wear a mask wherever I'm meant to.

Still think closing schools is bloody ridiculous and the government should never have entertained it as an option.

I’ve just read this whole thread and I remain astonished that we have tied ourselves up in this knot yet again rather than ask the elderly and vulnerable to ‘stay the fuck at home’ for a few more weeks until they get vaccinated.

All these adults and kids who will likely never die from covid if they catch it. All ruining their lives to save my 70 year old MIL who refuses to follow the rules.

Utterly batshit

farfallarocks · 30/12/2020 23:59

Absolutely no thought to how on earth working families with young kids are meant to navigate this. It’s so obvious the decision makers here are all men with sahm

Old people can't be expected to stay at home, that's breaching their liberties

We must all suffer especially the children, and extra specially those women who would like a career

ReesMoggsGlasses · 31/12/2020 00:02

All I can think is there must be some seriously under stimulated specimens of women around who love nothing better than to sit home and dream of home schooling their spawn to fill their very empty lives and brains

I'd love to find one of these jobs with employers that understand and just "suck it up"!
My company also not in this country won't furlough anyone as they're supposedly supportive but in reality couldn't give a toss and just pile on more work....if it's not done you're out pretty quick. To be honest most employers in the industry I'm in would be like it.

DH works for a small firm who did furlough him last time but as it's small it nearly went under because they needed him at work for jobs they were on. No chance of furlough this time.

If our schools/nurseries shut we're stuffed and I'll probably have a mental breakdown but hey I'll just tell my employer to suck it up, get sacked, not get another job due to a recession and end up on benefits causing more debt to the country.
Would be easier to get my death in service....at least DH and DS would be sorted in future years.

My heart goes out to you @Littlewhitedove2 it's well and truly shit!

(Sorry this is mega negative but feeling pretty fucked off with life right now)

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 31/12/2020 00:04

I agree it's hard for loads of people.
Primary schools aren't safe - it's a fact. Children are having parties and sleepovers and playdates. Yes maybe not yours but it all has an effect. Children do not socially distance. We try our best. Children and staff were tumbling before Christmas.

Personally, I've been in fear of my life for the last term (over 55, asthma) but have never passed my fear on to the children. 37.5% of our staff would not be back on 4/1 as suffering Covid. We (staff) all isolated right over Christmas.

Don't teach your children - stick them in front of a video if you must. I HAVE educated my 4 when they were younger while working and living abroad. I know everyone can't manage it for various reasons and I know it's hard. Much as I love my job I have absolutely not been sleeping because I'm terrified of dying due to the ridiculously dangerous situation we've been put in. Don't teach your child, we'll catch them up the best we can (I'll be teaching online daily), but I am not prepared to die for my job.

Fear HQ

CountessFrog · 31/12/2020 00:08

Rabid, foaming fear.

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 31/12/2020 00:09

Maybe that's because we all know people in ICU or dead!

ReesMoggsGlasses · 31/12/2020 00:11

It's not lurking around corners waiting to pounce, there are things you can do to mitigate. Life has to go on.

It's not the Black Death.

BuzzingTheBee · 31/12/2020 00:12

I am so worried about how its all going to work out.

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 31/12/2020 00:13

And yes fear, because we have no protection.

OppsUpsSide · 31/12/2020 00:14

Well no, we have pretty good treat for the Black Death as it happens Confused

ReesMoggsGlasses · 31/12/2020 00:14

Changed my mind, let's jack it all in, fuck the job, fuck the house, fuck the kids, fuck eating, fuck socialising, fuck getting dressed and leaving the house - fuck the lot of it, see where that gets us

OppsUpsSide · 31/12/2020 00:14

*treatment

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 31/12/2020 00:14

What can you do to mitigate in a primary school? I'd love to know!
