A colleague asked me if I knew how long this will be for as our pub will close.
I thought I heard Matt Hancock say recently it maybe until Easter.
What does anyone else think or understand for the next restrictions.

OMFG I hope not

roses2 · 23/12/2020 21:07

Until the death levels are at an "acceptable" level with the most vulnerable vaccinated. I would have thought Easter at the earliest.

Chasingsquirrels · 23/12/2020 21:08

I should think so.
Don't think ds1 will be taking his theory test in early February.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 23/12/2020 21:09

I read somewhere it would be February at the earliest, however I think Easter is probably a more likely estimate.

Suzi888 · 23/12/2020 21:09

I thought it was until February too.

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 23/12/2020 21:09

Easter? Ffs

Mammaaof · 23/12/2020 21:11

Yes definitely 3 months I think 😓

whatisforteamum · 23/12/2020 21:15

Personally it will be a long dark time but I can't see us open in Feb.Not with the new strain.Poor man didn't even want another lockdown as he is single so without work is alone.

Depends I think. They could do T4 for 6 weeks and include schools and it would take it right down.
Problem is, reopen the schools after half term they'll still only be half way at best through the most vulnerable so I reckon lock down again by Easter.

Keeping schools open and vaccinating all and sundry asap, given the virulence of this latest version I think T4-T3 by Easter then reopening for the summer slowly. Furlough ends April now - end I think?

So unless the new testing results changes things re primary school pupils my money is on a couple of weeks of home schooling to "fire-break" it and then we all sit more or less tight until Easter with the schools open as before.

gurglebelly · 23/12/2020 21:19

I guess it depends how sensible people are!

Stellaris22 · 23/12/2020 21:24

Depends on people's reactions to it.

If we continue with the 'I don't care, I'll make my own risk assessment and continue as normal' then yes, months.

If people finally realise how easily it spreads then it could be better.

But it'll be months I reckon.

But the government have made such a shambles that people will rebel for the sake of it as they don't want to follow more rules. I know a few people who purposefully break the rules just because they hate the government.

partyatthepalace · 23/12/2020 21:24

End of Feb for sure, maybe a bit longer...

Clockstop · 23/12/2020 21:37

I think it'll be at least until February and the entire country will go to tier 4.

Get ready for more celebs to claim they have all turned into pro hairdressers.

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/12/2020 21:47

Lives in Wales ( 2nd worst in the world for numbers per head of population , not something to be proud of )
I think lockdown til after Easter

Dadnotamum72 · 23/12/2020 21:48

The problem with all the predictions is the future is such an unknown.

In April could we have predicted how life was by july?
By Auģust could we have predicted how life would be like come November?
So now anyone is just guessing March, it may be what people are saying but could be worse and could be better, what is likely is that come March we will be saying I would never have believed this if you'd told me 3 months ago!

lljkk · 23/12/2020 21:53

April would not surprise me. :(

Goodbye2020Hello2021 · 23/12/2020 21:54

When does the latest furlough end? April?

Fieldofyellowflowers · 23/12/2020 21:54

After the christmas fiasco, the government won't want to make promises they can't keep.

BrusselPout · 23/12/2020 21:59

@Goodbye2020Hello2021

When does the latest furlough end? April?
Doesn't mean anything. We came out of the original lockdown in July and at that point furlough ran until until October. It depends on how much everyone takes it seriously and cuts down any non essential contact, and how quickly they can get these vaccines into people
whatisforteamum · 24/12/2020 17:33

My instincts tell me late feb/March.I do think hospitality is trashed for many pubs now.Only so many come backs and wastage they can take.

I've given up trying to predict what's going to happen next. Just drag myself through each day and every night tell myself it's one day closer until its all over.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 24/12/2020 17:42

Tier 4 will doubtless end when they introduce tier 5 Sad

Letseatgrandma · 24/12/2020 17:43

It depends entirely on whether they close schools or not.

If they don’t, it’ll be Tier 4 in most places for months.

MadameBlobby · 24/12/2020 17:46

It’s always months. It’s always far longer than the incompetent liars initially tell us. This vaccine needs rolled out the the population who are medically able to have it ASAP. No more twatting around about “autonomy”.
