Just thought I'd start a new thread for the north east lot as number 3 is getting pretty full!

@PennyDreadfuI hope you're ok and hope you don't mind me picking the thread up!

Just checking in.
PickAChew so pleased your DS is back at school. I’m counting down the days for mine to go back to sixth form/college. Home alone will be bliss Blush.
I want the sun back.
My hairdresser has just posted that they are taking booking, yeah. I gave up on having a fringe, takes too much up keep, but is cheaper than Botox Grin. The wrinkles have to stay on view. All ready booked in for my eyebrows.

PickAChew · 04/03/2021 13:24

Ooh, I need to check my hairdresser. It's not been cut since August and, despite never using heat on it, the ends are getting crispy and it's fizzing up rather quickly.

Off for my jab, later. Excitement and dread, all rolled into one.

MrsEWeatherwax · 04/03/2021 13:32

Good luck @PickAChew, DD had hers this morning, all fine other than dead arm. In and out in less than 10 minutes. I’m relieved.

Florelei · 04/03/2021 13:35

Afternoon everyone.

Good luck for your jab @PickAChew! If you feel up to it, let us know how you got on.

@MrsEWeatherwax - glad to hear that your DD was fine after hers.

It’s brilliant to hear of so many people getting their jabs.

Someaddedsugar · 04/03/2021 21:59

I've managed to book my hair in for 27 April and have pre-warned my hairdresser of its current state .

Hope your vaccine was ok @PickAChew and pleased your DD has had hers @MrsEWeatherwax.

I would never have thought of Lidl for a kettle @NUFC69 but can well imagine the microwave option being a total pain!

Nothing on my hairdresser's Facebook save a humerus reminder to step away from the kitchen scissors!

I feel better after this jab than I did after my flu jab. Fingers crossed I won't need to go braless again!

PickAChew · 04/03/2021 22:11

Humerous. Armless joke.

PickAChew · 05/03/2021 08:48

Spoke too soon. Woke up in the early hours shivering. Temperature of 38 and feel like I've been runover, this morning.

Florelei · 05/03/2021 09:40

@PickAChew I was the same. My really bad symptoms only lasted about 12 hours though.

FlowersBrew for you and I hope you feel better soon.

Also if you had the AZ one, apparently the second one is much easier!

PickAChew · 05/03/2021 09:45

I was AZ, yes. Feel a little perkier for a nap.

MrsEWeatherwax · 05/03/2021 14:20

My DD has headache and shivers, so is staying in bed(no change there). She is not happy with headache, she never normally gets them, so is depressed. I can’t wait for mine. I was wondering about volunteering at a vaccine centre but I only want to do a couple of hours a couple of times, I’m too lazy to volunteer all day.

Someaddedsugar · 05/03/2021 18:52

@MrsEWeatherwax we're volunteering in 4 hour shifts (I think you can do longer but I can't fit in longer) - I can see if I can find a link if that would help?

Hope everyone's ok. Hopefully they're just short term side effects!

DS is a firefighter in another part of the country, and had his vaccine fairly recently - this was because if there was vaccine that would otherwise go to waste, firefighters were among the groups of people invited to use these doses.

He was quite poorly for a couple of days. His father and I think this could be because he must be more effective at making antibodies as he is so fit.

I am excited on your behalves at the imminent return to school.

MrsEWeatherwax · 05/03/2021 22:35

Thanks she’s a lot better today, still a bit of headache but that’s it.
@Someaddedsugar that would be great thanks, was thinking might look good on a cv, (selfish). Could manage 4 hours if outside but not sure if I can wear a mask that long! TMI I have about one/two hot flushes a hour and if have my mask on I have a panic attack tooBlush.
I’m meeting my friend next week, I’m so excited it’s sad, if warm enough we might sit for minute.Smile

PickAChew · 06/03/2021 08:30

Under 55s are hit harder because their immune system is stronger. Mu h better night's sleep from me and the aches and shivers have gone (and my fitbit no longer thinks I'm running a marathon, which tbh, started on the way to my appointment after eating a salty stir fry. I suspect the oyster sauce and it's gone in the bin)

Still have a fuzzy head, mind, and my sinuses feel like they could explode. Looking forward to a strong coffee with my breakfast.

myrtleWilson · 06/03/2021 12:18

Hope your vaccine side effects ease soon!

Just stopping by as the thread had fallen off my 'threads I'm on'...

Someaddedsugar · 06/03/2021 18:20

@MrsEWeatherwax I'll find out the info on Monday for you. I think there's a mix of indoor and outdoor roles so should be something that isn't indoors with a mask for 4 hours!

I'm very excited as my parents are booking their vaccines later this evening. Such a relief!

Hope you're feeling better @PickAChew!

I'm meeting a good friend from work on Friday to do the circular walk at broom house farm with a coffee and I can't wait. It'll be so nice having a meeting that isn't online and yet more talking to a screen! And then I've arranged to go for a picnic with my mum for Mother's Day and it'll be so nice just to be able to sit and talk and feel almost normal!

OP posts:
Florelei · 06/03/2021 18:54

Oooh let me know @Someaddedsugar what that walk is like now if you would please in terms of mud! Apparently you needed wellies a few days ago.

I think we will have to give it a go some time soon!

Someaddedsugar · 06/03/2021 20:37

@Florelei we did it last weekend and I ended up with my Timberland boots being covered up over the laces. DP had to pull me out of the mud which ended in me laughing so much I nearly fell in face first. Thankfully he pulled me backwards just in time Grin. I think it's dried out a bit now but will definitely be wearing my wellies this time!

😂😂 so glad he saved you!

TheSilveryPussycat · 08/03/2021 20:22

How is everyone? Drunk with a day of freedom?

I've never done the Broom House circular walk, I'll add it to my list. My friend and Iused to refer to our visits as "piggy therapy" Smile

MrsEWeatherwax · 09/03/2021 19:51

Gosh the helicopter was low tonight, exciting. Sounded like they were going to land on our roofBlush

TheSilveryPussycat · 09/03/2021 20:02

Haven't heard any helicopters, but the other day two lowflying jets (I would think they were jets) passed over, several hours apart. I looked on FlightRadar for the second one, it took off near Catterick I think, and no picture of the plane model was displayed.

It brought back memories of the 80s and 90s when I lived further west, and each summer there were some very low training flights, oftern in pairs, over Weardale. I was once in a park in Wolsingham with DS, and one came over. They were too fast to get any warning, and quite loud and alarming. Cue lots of scared children running to their mothers (including DS).

myrtleWilson · 09/03/2021 22:43

Oh I heard those jets the other day (possibly Sunday?) silvery

PickAChew · 09/03/2021 23:55

I heard one of the jets. Seemed quite odd after hardly hearing any planes for so long.

Took a walk into town because I needed the post office and wanted to do a sweep of Savers. The marketplace was remarkably busy. No visible progress with the bus station and there was more of the North road disruptives and bored arriva drivers than people waiting for buses.
