Click and collect food shop will we get everything we ordered?

First world problems I know! Just wondered if anyone has collected a click and collect food shop yet this week and got everything they ordered? With all the madness in the shops my OH has suddenly had a ‘first world’ panic we might not get everything due to people supposedly stripping the shelves. Anyone else done a click and collect for this week and received all their shopping as planned? Tia

Went to our big Tesco at 2ish this aft, it was quiet well stocked

I usually get random subs on my Asda collection order. I can't wait to see what they have in store for me tomorrow!! Xmas Shock

Theforest · 22/12/2020 18:32

Last week we had sambuca instead of salted caramel baileys. I mean, seriously!!!! This wasn't even a sub, just put in without telling us. Weird...

MaggieFS · 22/12/2020 19:19

I often used to tick no subs, but unless you 100% know there isn't a possible alternative, it's worth having subs because you can decline them at the door.

I LOVE the Waitrose system which lets you leave comments for each item.

Tier 2, a city - Asda delivery today, got everything in £100 odd order with exception of three things unavailable and one sensible substitution. Unavailable were soup mix veg pack, croissants and a gravy boat. I haven't ordered sprouts, spinach, citrus fruits or carrots due to Asda's short dates and plan to get those at local shops tomorrow, along with the croissants and some sort of veg to make a soup.

Tier 3. Ordered lots of basics from Iceland home delivery today-lots of slots available. Three things missing-tonic water, ready made custard, pringles. Guess we can easily pick those up somewhere else if necessary.

I’m not expecting mine to have everything which is why I’ve ordered a Christmas veg box from the milkman (they diversified into fruit & veg during the first lockdown)

BatshitCrazyWoman · 22/12/2020 19:58

I had a Tesco delivery this afternoon and got everything, including all fruit and veg. I'm on my own for Christmas so haven't ordered a turkey or anything 'traditionally' Christmassy. Apart from a fair bit of chocolate.

I live in London.

ElephantWhaleRabbit · 22/12/2020 20:00

Tesco delivery today. Everything except the cheeseboard.

autumnboys · 23/12/2020 11:26

3 subs - one was disappointing, a litre of their cheapest orange juice from concentrate subbed for a litre of freshly squeezed, but the other two were fine.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/12/2020 11:33

Asda click and collect: three iotems supposedly missing. that is if they manage to bring out all the food. once they forgot some bags and I had 37 items missing from the order.

tactum · 23/12/2020 11:43

Tesco click & collect just now - absolutely everything I ordered, no substitutions and some complimentary mince pies! Xmas Smile

Walkaround · 23/12/2020 11:52

I’m not sure I believe the claim that Waitrose Entertaining orders, including for Christmas food, which are specifically described as food made to order, are the same thing as normal click and collect. I got the impression the food was definitely ordered for you and held back until after your collection slot had passed. If it is treated exactly the same as normal click and collect, with no guarantees you’ll get what you asked for or even any kind of close substitute, I fail to see the point in having it as a separate “thing.” It’s far too late for people to order turkeys that way now, anyway, of course.

delilahbucket · 23/12/2020 12:48

Ours coming today from Sainsbury's. Lots of subs but none of it is particularly important and it will all just go back. All the Christmas dinner essentials are present. Just missing things like blue cheese, double cream, pistachios, pate. Will be attempting M&S tomorrow. Keep putting it off because I expect it to be busy but we're going to the butcher and fishmonger so going to do it in one town visit.

DrunkenKoala · 23/12/2020 12:56

Collected from Sainsbury’s this morning. It was mainly fruit, veg, dairy, chilled and bakery. Had a couple of subs but nothing offensive except sausage rolls were subbed with veg spring rolls. Will nip in in the morning to see if they’ve have any. Everything had good dates on them as well. I went about 9am and the car park was really quiet.

Lemondrops41 · 23/12/2020 13:50

Just got my ASDA Click & Collect, 2 subs (cheese & potatoes), 1 item not available (magazine) and got a refund for three items with short dates (dips and chilled pizza). Got everything I needed for Christmas Day anyway.

Comefromaway · 23/12/2020 15:44

I’ve got my Asda click n collect.

No chicken fillets or mini hash browns and they dubbed my normal Yorkshires for been dripping & gluten free ones.

RosesforMama · 23/12/2020 15:54

My Tesco click and collect had a few substitutions (eg 2 packs of 10 Yorkshires instead of 1 pack of 15). Nothing missing and free mince pies :)

PeachiceT · 23/12/2020 16:48

I'm on Essex and got everything on my food shop on sunday . Popped to Tesco this morning at 8am was relatively quiet and shelves were stocked x

Floralnomad · 23/12/2020 20:39

Got everything except part baked rolls and pink lemonade so nothing too vital . I’ve also realised that I’ve completely over shopped considering that I’m not catering Christmas Day or Boxing Day and I’ve had to put chicken , mince and salmon in the freezer as I doubt we will get to it .

Clevs · 23/12/2020 20:51

We had a Click & Collect from Tesco yesterday and had four substitutions on it, all acceptable.

DollyParton2 · 23/12/2020 20:53

TW2013 Tesco does definitely not pick all its orders from warehouse. The 2 massive Tesco’s near me- you can’t move from the order pickers clogging up aisles with their carts. Always been like that.

Anniecott · 23/12/2020 21:07

So mines just come from Tesco and some really random substitutes eg Lindt teddy bear to quality street chocolate, I rejected them all but was told to keep them and will get a refund but most frustrating my turkey and ham which I had been told weren't coming in my order, came as standard, we had already panic bought today as in tier 4 and the shelves are getting emptied rapidly, so now I have 2 turkeys and ham for 3 people. I rang them and they have refunded me the cost of both, so the freezer is on overtime. X

merryhouse · 23/12/2020 21:25

@emilyfrost but the only way to order the Special Christmas Ordering food - eg the Narragansett turkey - was to book a delivery or c&c slot; so those items should have been kept separately with ones name on, like they were last year.

(We were too late to book a slot, so couldn't order Special Christmas food. Bought a frozen (free-range bronze) turkey for £15 instead Grin)

ceeveebee · 23/12/2020 21:29

We had an Ocado delivery today without a single missing item or substitution. Didn’t include the turkey though as I got that from the local butcher, but actually when I went to edit the order a couple of days ago they were literally giving away their M&S turkeys - less than half price - so I think they have had a lot of last minute cancellations or changes to orders...
