Mass evacuation of London

madcatladyforever · 20/12/2020 09:36

just seen yesterdays videos of the mass evacuation of people from London to go and spend christmas elsewhere before it's too late.
Well done Londeners thanks for spreading the virus mutation ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.
Now waiting for tier 4 all over the country in the new year.
Because your christmas is so much more important than anybody elses health.
This is how it all started, no action in Wuhan, a few days later it's been flown all over the world, fantastic.
Mark my words the new year will be hell.

OP posts:

I think OP's basic point is that we should form militia to throw a ring of steel around the South East and shoot anyone heading North or West who can't pronounce 'bath' correctly, just in case they have the Supercovid.

I'm in.

donquixotedelamancha · 20/12/2020 11:26

Wonder if OP will answer these reasonable points.

You must be new here.

Weedsnseeds1 · 20/12/2020 11:27

Just found these on the platform of my local train station. Should I offer them my spare room?

Mass evacuation of London
Vintagevixen · 20/12/2020 11:27

@HopeYourHighHorseBucks

Last night I was on an amusing thread that described it as fleeing, that has vanished though. Now we have mass evacuation 😂

Where are they going? Who is inviting them? What about if they live there but travel in to London to work? All questions that were asked yesterday, while the OP shouted "BUT HULL"

New year will be hell because the virus will spread regardless, you can try slow it down but it will get around eventually, that's what viruses do. I dont know anyone who woke up yesterday panicked and thought, must head to the north.

Yes annoying isn't it when people come on a thread and totally ignore rational arguments and just shout "SELFISH" "SHAMEFUL" "ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE."

There's a lot of it about these days.....

D4rwin · 20/12/2020 11:28

That's Londoners isn't it? It's not them spreading the virus just because they're sodding off to their second homes for the holidays. They're all so very clever the virus knows to leave them be.

I was on the 'fleeing' thread too.

Hull became the new 'cancel the cheque' 🤣🤣🤣

SavageBeauty73 · 20/12/2020 11:29

Mass evacuation 😂😂😂

So ridiculous. As a Londoner, I didn't have any Christmas plans as my parents are vulnerable. None of my friends left London last night. But yes, blame London for everything 🙄

maureenfrombarnsley · 20/12/2020 11:29

@PrincessBuggerPants

They weren't Londoners. They were people who reside in London but are originally from other places, going home to stay with family for Christmas.
Exactly.

I live in a low-case northern area but I can't get mad at these scenes. It's people going home for Christmas, as they'd been told just 2 days prior they could. It's a virus, its job in life is to spread. This hysterical need to blame our fellow man is absolutely absurd.

Marimaur · 20/12/2020 11:29

We’re a pretty small country, so to think it’s not already ‘everywhere’ is a bit silly.

Prime example! Jesus wept.....
BluebellsGreenbells · 20/12/2020 11:31

If those ‘Londoners’ arrive elsewhere then surely they would follow the rules of distancing and mask wearing etc, so where’s the increased risk?

They should keep away from family as much as possible to prevent household spread. Clean hands and surfaces.

It’s up to the hosts to ensure their own safety.

I looked out of my window this morning expecting to see a parade of suitcase-touting people in pearly king and queen outfits knocking on doors and saying 'Ello me old China, any Uncle Neds free in your drum 'n bass?'

I didn't Grin.

AcornAutumn · 20/12/2020 11:33

Maureen “ It's a virus, its job in life is to spread. This hysterical need to blame our fellow man is absolutely absurd”

This.

I’m tempted to get leaflets printed.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 20/12/2020 11:35

We have no idea who those people were or the normal footfall the last Saturday before Christmas.

I'd rather we stopped losing faith in the sense of our fellow citizens - en masse, most people seem to be behaving in a pro-social way.

Feasibly - a virus mutation isn’t always a bad thing. Evolutionary biology tends to act in interesting ways as it’s not in a virus best reproductive interest to kill its host or prevent it moving around. It would be very 2020 if the people who've seeded the new variant elsewhere have introduced a strain that more transmissible but less virulent in the acute form. And while I'm fantasising, who know if it has less impact in the Long Covid sense as well.

Pinkfreesias · 20/12/2020 11:36

Everyone squabbling like this just lets this awful government get away with being incompetent. We're playing right into their hands. The virus is already in Scotland. Even Anglophobe Sturgeon admitted that last night.

GroundAlmonds · 20/12/2020 11:36

@sunflowerstory

Why would a "Londoner" take themselves off on a Christmas jolly to Grimsby?

If you're committed to taking a divisive stance, it's not Londoners who are travelling.

Huh? Confused
HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 20/12/2020 11:38

Vintage they cant let common sense stop them.

Worra I've never read Hull so much in a thread before, their ears must have been burning.

*I looked out of my window this morning expecting to see a parade of suitcase-touting people in pearly king and queen outfits knocking on doors and saying 'Ello me old China, any Uncle Neds free in your drum 'n bass?'

I didn't .*

Grin I would check your loft if I were you.

AcornAutumn · 20/12/2020 11:39

Ground it’s not landers who are travelling to the Lakes or something.

Londoners living, working, with family here are staying here as we usually do.

People on the trains last night were people from other places trying to get home. They likely work or study here but it’s not their home.

AcornAutumn · 20/12/2020 11:39

*landers

That wasn’t me doing a lazy accent, it should say Londoners!

BringPizza · 20/12/2020 11:40

The new strain will be all over the country by now anyway. If it's more infectious then I'm hoping it's also less deadly and is starting to settle into its longer-term form.

I think there's a lot of anti-London sentiment for 2 main reasons. One is that the North was told to just shut up and knuckle down when the tiers came back a few months ago, and secondly no-one outside of London believes London has genuinely been Tier 2 all this time. FTR I'm not in the North, nor in a particularly hard-hit area.

I don't have a problem with travelling Londoners, I have a problem with anyone who convinces themselves they're a special case, or who just sticks 2 fingers up to the rules- especially on the back of a religious festival they don't go to church for. These people are why we're still nuts deep in this virus a year on.

Witchlight · 20/12/2020 11:41

Ok I’ll bite...

As a Londoner, I thank the rest of the country for voting for this of a government, who have reacted too late repeatedly. I thank the rest of the country for voting for this *** of ineptitude, who voted for Brexit and all the other negative things that the government are not managing.

The idea that the virus understands it needs to keep its mutant child inside the M25 is laughable when commuters have been going back and forward for weeks.

peardrops1 · 20/12/2020 11:41

I'm in London, and so are all my friends and colleagues. I don't know of a single person who has left.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 20/12/2020 11:41

Mark my words the new year will be hell Ma Shipton is that you?
I swear to god, it’s uncanny. I mean how could you possibly foresee upset & disruption?
On what basis....

baroqueandblue · 20/12/2020 11:41

Ffs OP could you have chosen a more alarmist title or were they all sold out?! I live in London, saw your title in the trending list and nearly shat myself. As it is there's no end to the emergency services sirens where I live, I don't need more scaremongering thanks very much. Jesus Hmm
