Support bubble and overnight stays in tier 4

Is this allowed still? I am being told it's not allowed but I can't find a source for this. That if you're in a support bubble you can still stay somewhere overnight even if you're in tier 4 sorry if already been asked I'm panicking.

@Waspnest
I agree

redribbonbow · 20/12/2020 17:10

@TheFormerPorpentinaScamander where is that from? @Hugstoall that doesn't clear up overnight stays though. I know I can visit but it's the overnight bit I'm none the wiser on.
Think I will just have to go with it's ok while I await clarity. Would really like to see a clear article saying overnight stays in tier 4 fine in support bubble.

@Shesingsshangrila

It’s different if you are in tier 4!!!

redribbonbow · 20/12/2020 17:37

@Shesingsshangrila thank you, much clearer

Shesingsshangrila · 20/12/2020 17:38

@justa47 literally says "even if you are in tier 4" right there in the article

lifestooshort123 · 20/12/2020 17:39

www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1374702/Tier-4-support-bubbles-Can-you-still-have-support-bubble-in-Tier-4-EVG

Updated today, the relevant section says -

"Can you still have a support bubble in Tier 4?
Support bubbles are still allowed in Tier 4 areas, and are permitted in every Tier across England.

Support bubbles are still allowed to mix indoors unlike anyone else.

They are also allowed to have overnight stays between the two households involved in the support bubble."

Justa47 · 20/12/2020 17:41

@Shesingsshangrila

So it does and if you live in 4 and bubble in 2/3?
And I glad some one has said that at last

Justa47 · 20/12/2020 17:41

As too late to form new bubble as to leave one you need to wait 10 days

Here you go

MaggieFS · 20/12/2020 18:55

Bugger, not the right bit, sorry. I'm sure I've seen something about overnight being ok for support bubbles in tier4

redribbonbow · 20/12/2020 19:04

@MaggieFS thanks I read that but there was a separate part describing overnight stays which is what confused me.

OP posts:
redribbonbow · 20/12/2020 19:05

Oh seen your update. Someone on here has posted a bbc article that outlines support bubbles are ok to stay overnight. I think that is sufficient to say there's enough confusion if it's not correct at least!

A lot of people unclear what a 'support bubble' (in law a "linked household") is. Important as you can lawfully visit and stay with anyone in linked household for Christmas.

They became wider with last regulations

Linked households explained here:

Agree. And it's all driven by that terrible wording which they've had ample opportunities to update but just keep copying and pasting.
SuperDiaperBaby · 20/12/2020 20:07

Has the guidance been updated?

Staying away from home overnight
You cannot leave your home or the place where you are living for holidays or stays overnight away from your main home unless you have a reasonable excuse for doing so. This means that holidays in the UK and abroad are not allowed. This includes staying in a second home or caravan, if that is not your primary residence, or staying with anyone you do not live with (other than those with whom you have formed a support bubble)

Lellochip · 20/12/2020 20:12

Has the guidance been updated?

Looks like it, that makes more sense. I just found this page on gov.uk that also confirms overnight stays in or from tier 4 are fine

Sitt · 20/12/2020 20:16

“ my understanding is that the support bubble system was for people to physically be able to treat one other household as if they lived together, even hug if they liked.”

It has absolutely nothing to do with distance however. I am aware of a support bubble that is 200 miles apart. They have seen each other in each other’s homes at least every two weeks. I’m sure you will think this wrong, but you have no idea of their circumstances, and I can assure you it is within the rules and significantly less pressure on community services

MaggieFS · 20/12/2020 20:18

Yes, it has definitely finally been updated.

SuperDiaperBaby · 20/12/2020 20:30

@redribbonbow

Think that has been confirmed on Gov.uk - hope that eases your anxiety.

redribbonbow · 20/12/2020 20:37

@SuperDiaperBaby thank you this has helped me!

My photo was from BBC news I think but I see its finally been clarified further anyway.

Enjoy your Christmas everyone Smile

ConfusedatChristmasTier4 · 20/12/2020 23:54

Hey @redribbonbow I’ve just come back to your thread to say the guidance has been updated and clarified so that overnight stays are allowed and I see I’ve been beaten to it! Great news. Have a lovely Christmas Flowers

Suzi888 · 21/12/2020 18:57

@Waspnest you can stay the night. Some people need overnight care and that means someone staying overnight.
