Tier 4... will Argos and Monsoon be open?

We posted DD’s letter to Santa today. The things on her list are all available at Argos and Monsoon. I had arranged a sitter for tomorrow so that I could go present shopping, however we are now in Tier 4 so I’m worried that I won’t be able to get her presents. Does anybody know? Thanks.

Banks should be open as normal on Monday.

itchyfinger · 20/12/2020 07:02

Set up PayPal and order online.

HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:03

@Starisnotanumber that’s what I’m thinking. Is it cheeky to ask someone you don’t know very well to deposit cash into their account and for them to order things for you?

Banks will be open. In tier 4 areas they are likely to reduce hours but it won't be in time got tomorrow.

HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:04

And would I have to take the person with me to pick them up?

OP posts:
HedgieHog · 20/12/2020 07:06

I wouldn’t be comfortable if I didn’t know somebody well
Have you not been in the country long op!

damnthemanatee · 20/12/2020 07:07

Most places will offer PayPal, do you have that?

HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:09

No, I don’t have PayPal. Fuck, I am so angry about this! Bastard people not wearing masks.

OP posts:
Starisnotanumber · 20/12/2020 07:10

When you order they ask for mobile number and e mail not sure if e mail is linked to card but you are OK with a text which they send right away.
You don't need any of their bank details or to take their card
I suppose it depends on the friend if they have the cash then I can't see any problem, the only slight issue is if you need a refund as it goes back onto the card that paid for the items

FuckOffBorisYouTwat · 20/12/2020 07:12

PayPal is easy to set up

Starisnotanumber · 20/12/2020 07:14

They can do an order from anywhere in the country so if you have someone who will help out that may be possible, just make sure they give your mobile and pick your local store not the one near them

HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:16

OK, thanks. I am going to ask someone. Poor DD, I feel so sorry for her. We were going out this morning to buy her a Christmas dress.

This sums up why we're in this position. You live in tier 4 and yet you've arranged a babysitter to come to your house the day after very strict rules come in about mixing, so that you can go out shopping! You're the same as the non mask wearers I'm afraid.

Eh? Has everyone forgotten that masks do nothing? Max of 3% protection if any. Muzzling the nation has been one of the whackiest decisions based only on creating a visual reminder to socially distance. If you can breathe air through a mask, you can breathe virus.
HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:19

@Littlefluffyclouds13 We’ve only just arrived in the country and I didn’t know!

OP posts:
wowfudge · 20/12/2020 07:20

No, Littlefluffyclouds13 those were the OP's original plans before Tier 4 rules came into play. She's now trying to shop online instead.

malaguena · 20/12/2020 07:23

OP it might be worth having a look on Shpock or your local facebook marketplace, they often have pretty occasion dresses, sometimes new ones and you could just pay cash on collection. I have seen Monsoon dresses on there.

Starisnotanumber · 20/12/2020 07:23

Do you have a large supermarket nearby asda sainsburys and tesco have some lovely Christmas clothes at the moment.

HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:24

@malaguena thank you, I’ll do that.

OP posts:
HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:24

@Starisnotanumber yes, we have Asda. Thanks.

OP posts:
HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:25

I’ve never been to an Asda but it’s a big one so they’ll probably sell toys and clothes.

OP posts:
RickOShay · 20/12/2020 07:27

@HermioneMakepeace
It’s not easy any of it. Set up PayPal.
Then have a look at Next with your dd. Things will get better. Wishing you a lovely Christmas.

RickOShay · 20/12/2020 07:28

Asda clothes are great btw

HermioneMakepeace · 20/12/2020 07:32

I can’t set up PayPal as my card (I’ve since discovered) has been blocked due to suspicious activity (I’m overseas). I only have cash. But that’s OK, we’ll go to Asda and I will ask someone to buy some presents from Argos.

OP posts:
Laughnaff · 20/12/2020 07:36

At a push click and collect. Argos will def be open for that
