They're panicking now.

@TheClaws Calling out the behaviour of the media is not being a conspiracy theorist

Mind you i suppose it does mean all these are conspiracy theorists too.
Those involved in and organising the Leveson inquiry.

Hugh Grant
Steve Coogan
Christopher Jeffries.
JK Rowling.

Such conspiracy theorists.

Told us what? You claiming you told us that the Netherlands would ban flights from the UK? Because I don't recall you posting that.

@GetOffYourHighHorse

'So by making your own life a little better, you’re making others’ lives a little bit shitter. Well done, Merry Christmas.'

Exactly.

I really had no idea what there were so many selfish, obstinate and willfully ignorant people in the UK.

Stay home. Christmas is one made-up fest day out of 365 days in the year. Don't perpetuate this pandemic over it.

TheClaws · 20/12/2020 03:30

MercyBooth What's your point about the possible suspension of flights between the Netherlands and the UK? That's a sensible action and one I'd support.

As for your general leanings towards the alt-right conspiracy side of the arena, I'm still not convinced otherwise.

MercyBooth · 20/12/2020 03:43

No worries If gaslighting makes you feel better and gets you through Smile

MercyBooth · 20/12/2020 03:46

Though one does wonder why you are still not satisfied when you have got what you wanted.

You are proof that whatever lengths the public go to , to help prevent the spread it will never be enough.

Are you talking to me? And gaslighting? Hmm I don't have any idea of what you're on about.

All I know is that you've been consistently negative about a public health issue. I don't think that helps anyone.

Suzi888 · 20/12/2020 05:02

It’s too late now. No one I know is changing their Christmas plans, bubbles everywhere.

nonono1 · 20/12/2020 05:34

To those calling me selfish - I’m on the brink of losing my job and my home because of fucking Covid. My anxiety is through the roof. Seeing my family for a few days is ALL that’s been keeping me going these past few weeks and I’ll be damned if I don’t see them. There’s no point speaking to my (frankly useless at the best of times) GP - unless they can magically give me my job back. Is there a pill for that?

Frenchdressing · 20/12/2020 06:34

If you have severe and enduring MH problems or are suicidal and believe getting together with your relatives will help you then I get that. However a lot of people are quick to say ‘what about my mental health???’ When actually they are just a bit pissed off.

AuntieStella · 20/12/2020 06:56

I'm sorry to say I have cone across this. And it is very wrong.

I still hope it is not widespread.

TheKeatingFive · 20/12/2020 07:23

Being prevented from seeing close friends and family, for significant periods of time, will impact people, even if they previously had no mental health issues.

I’d have thought that was obvious.

IndecentFeminist · 20/12/2020 07:28

Even going private doesn't work. When we were in the depths of trying to sort my mum out (though it was only mental health, so presumably she should have just bucked her ideas up 🙄) I phoned every private hospital in the area and they weren't seeing people or taking on new patients. All their spare capacity had been put aside to support the NHS with covid.

Of which we had next to none, at the time less than 10 cases per 100,000.

Chaotic45 · 20/12/2020 08:28

@TheKeatingFive I'm well aware of that. I live in Leicester . We've had no mixing indoors since all of this began, and until it gets better that will continue, and that won't happen whilst people carry meeting on regardless.

Don't tell me to meet anyway- my DH has Covid atm and if we had 'met anyway' so would his family.

If someone has a severe mental health issue and they can honestly say meeting their family at Christmas will help significantly then fair enough. If someone has a relative and this is likely to be their last Christmas fair enough. But that's not what's happening in many many cases.

Frenchdressing · 20/12/2020 09:05

A member of the local cycling club (fit 50 YO) just died from Covid last night. Sobering reminder of the human cost and the need to stick to the rules.

CouldBeOuting · 20/12/2020 09:41

I know people who have actually had their mental health IMPROVED by lockdown.

Not everyone enjoys being in the company if other people.

My DH is very happy to be having Christmas with just me and DS. He will miss DD but we will see her via zoom.

I usually host a pre Christmas party which DH pastes a smile on for and DS shuts himself away in my room so he can use the en-suite (he has SEN and hates being around people)

This year is has been great great for DH and DS and I do worry about their mental health when things get back to normal.

You've not even posted at all on page 6 on my screen. I have no idea what you're talking about or why you've @ me.

But anyway, what I do recall is that you said whatever the rules, you'll do what you want. Then when people objected you doubled down into conspiracy theory nonsense.

BusySittingDown · 20/12/2020 17:29

Ha! Absolutely roaring with laughter at "phone a GP".

My GP surgery is doing covid vaccinations only from tomorrow. Any other problems/illnesses and I or anyone else needing an appointment will need to travel elsewhere (god help those unable to drive/travel).

A few weeks ago I needed an appt for my DD and couldn't even get one then.

Dugee · 20/12/2020 18:11

@IndecentFeminist and @BusySittingDown

Have you seen the "how have you shown your appreciation for the NHS" thread yet?

IndecentFeminist · 20/12/2020 18:44

No, not yet...

I feel very town, as I am a fervent supporter of the NHS and have had very positive experiences in the past. But as a family we have also been very let down over the years, my mum especially. Most obviously in this most recent episode (don't even get me started on her actual experience in the psych ward) but on a couple of other significant occasions.

BusySittingDown · 20/12/2020 19:10

@Dugee, no I haven't seen it yet.

I am very appreciative of the NHS, my mum has had 4 strokes. The 4th was at the beginning of August this year. They took great care of her and although she is not and never will be the same, thankfully she is still here. I have friends that are nurses and they are amazing.

It was just the idea that someone suffering with their mental health should just "phone the GP" when many surgeries have been shut and have been cancelling appointments left, right and centre sounded absurd.

NoelEdmondsRUS · 20/12/2020 19:11

IndecentFeminist I am also in the same place you are (hi waves. :) ) and the NHS here is notoriously fucking shit.

I have a DS with severe mental health issues that got worse inlockdown, plus who has a bunch of neurological issues, and all referrals for him (made in february) were cancelled. No-one told me they were cancelled despite me ringing weekly until the end of June. Then finally someone said they were cancelled, and had been back in March, and referred back to the GP. Again, no-one told me this- and I have a 12 year old who was threatening to hurt himself.

My experience of this local authority. I have not been able to get a repeat prescription for a contraception since August. I need my blood pressure chedked, but the surgery is not taking face to face appointments.

IME, my local medical centre were fairly fucking sluggish and fucking lazy before. Now they have an excuse with COVID.

(PS- the asthma nurse at my surgery is epically fantastic. And so is the allergy clinic where we live. - everyone else? Might as well not bother.) But hey,. we are tier one and the ferry companies are saying to tirer 3 'don't come over' while taking their bookings and payments.

Kazmerelda · 20/12/2020 19:15

I know people who have actually had their mental health IMPROVED by lockdown.

Mine definitely has. My PTSD got diagnosed the start of last year and i struggled a lot with trying to be normal.

I started EMDR the start of this year, which helped then lockdown hit. I have been able to work myself around to some stability because there has been less pressure on me to be normal!
