They're panicking now.

X-post!

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2020 15:20

I’m glad that that particular post was sarcastic, but I’ve seen similar on here that definitely weren’t.
@WankPuffins

Does it not have a ring of familiarity about it for you? Mao's China? Nazi Germany? Stalinist Russia?

Think irony.
Exactly my thoughts. Quite horrifying that there would be people all for it.

BonnieDundee · 19/12/2020 15:23

@BonnieDundee- I know this probably won't make much difference but I think to need to understand the difference between 'telling lies' and 'things that aren't yet understood'.

The big clue in all this is that it is a novel virus. That means the advice and informationwillchange as we come to know more. When C19 first appeared, we didn't know whether you might be able to catch it just by popping your head around the door of a room with an infected person in it - so we had to act basically as though that were the case. We didn't know whether surfaces were a big infection vector (now looks like not).

I know the difference between telling lies and things that aren't yet understood thanks. I was referring to this
www.express.co.uk/comment/expresscomment/1357262/coronavirus-latest-science-data-out-of-date

This doesnt fall into the category of things that aren't yet understood. This falls under the category of telling lies.

WankPuffins · 19/12/2020 15:23

I'm very glad that was sarcastic!! Still wading through the thread.

DollyParton2 · 19/12/2020 15:37

Why on earth did they not just put us into a full lockdown up to Christmas Eve? I’ve been into London twice this week. The number of utter twats walking around in shops or sat on the tube either with mask pulled around their neck like the latest fashion accessory - or under their nose - is unbelievable. People constantly nudging into you/ invading personal space. Non essential clothes shops still packed. Why were they allowed to stay open? Why are shops - even with their extra security - allowing idiots to wander around with masks on but not wearing them?

For everyone saying “oh it’s just a bit of turkey let’s cancel Christmas Day with family” I truly don’t think you understand how for so so many people it’s the not just turkey.... it’s a day of pure magic, it’s special, it’s something so positive to keep them going after a shit year. People who would’ve visited family now don’t have food in. They’ve spent money, made plans because they banked on spending Christmas Day with their family.
Do you think a mass stampede at supermarkets from all 100000s extra households who would need to now buy additional food to spend Christmas Day at home is a good thing either?

Haha more fool you for actually believing that pile of shit!! It’s completely false.

PimlicoJo · 19/12/2020 15:42

Haha every serious news outlet knew and reported the reason?

I must have missed that.

Oliversmumsarmy · 19/12/2020 15:47

HaHaVeryBunny
Where on earth are these reports?

WankPuffins · 19/12/2020 15:50

If someone could link to those reports, I'd be very interested.

userxx · 19/12/2020 15:51

@HaHaVeryBunny C'mon now 🙄. And that's coming from someone who this this whole thing is a massive overreaction.

RoseyLentil · 19/12/2020 16:06

I hope so as I've done no Christmas shopping or prep and frankly can't be arsed with any of it this year. It's just a lot of extra work on top of work.
Tell me I'm miserable
I don't care 🤷‍♀️

Facelikearustytractor · 19/12/2020 16:07

They can try to cancel it, but I'm pretty sure it will be business as usual for a lot of people.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 19/12/2020 16:09

Possible restrictions aka tier 4 elsewhere too, also Scotland. Bbc news.

Frostythesnowwoman · 19/12/2020 16:12

Yes bbc saying some very big and worrying announcements coming... few minutes more they say Hmm

Your not miserable at all. I feel the same and my friends are the same too. :(
JanewaysBun · 19/12/2020 16:14

We've already planned for a small Christmas. Some people will need to nix but we don't so seems sensible that we stay in so others might mix

Frenchdressing · 19/12/2020 16:47

Well good for you🙄 Remember not to complain if any of you or yours become ill and there are no available hospital beds.

I am having panic attacks several times a week and want to throw myself off a bridge on a daily basis. Seeing my parents over Christmas was the only thing keeping me going. So yes, good for me and good for my family for wanting to keep me alive.
