Has anyone else lost the will to care?

I have. I barely care about anything anymore. I don't know what we are fighting for - if this is life then is it worth living? We are not living, we are only existing at this point.

We could be in for months and months of restrictions and there's even talk of a third lockdown. Because the first two worked so well?

In a few short months a whole year of our lives will have been restricted.

If there is light at the end of this tunnel it's a very long tunnel, and I don't think we've travelled very far.

Not very good manners to not directly address directly who you’re talking to is it?
AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 18/12/2020 16:27

Honestly don’t know how some people will cope when the next pandemic comes along and actually does kill huge numbers of the population, probably something with antibiotic resistance. Of course we won’t be able to furlough anyone when that one comes cause we’ve jizzed all the money on covid 🙄

Cantstandsmugness · 18/12/2020 16:29

@Cornettoninja

Just go away, nobody cares.

Pootle40 · 18/12/2020 16:31

@AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii just about wet myself Xmas Smile

applesandoranges221 · 18/12/2020 16:31

@Pootle40

I mostly follow the rules by coincidence rather than effort. However I travel outside by local authority if I want to (Scotland) and at the weekend am staying overnight at a friend's house (with another friend). As far as I'm concerned we've lost our senses with this now. When I hear about babies born in 2020 having not seen otherwise healthy grandparents because of a small risk of catching us virus you are most likely to recover from I am flabbergasted. But on MN I would be a murderer and someone quickly along to tell me they know 5 healthy peopled aged under 35 who all died. I keep saying I will quit MN but then I have this sort of morbid obsession to want to convince people to see sense by posting!
This.

So much this.

garlictwist · 18/12/2020 16:32

I don't really feel that fed up with it and I'm not sure why.

I don't really see anyone as I'm working from home (which I really like and don't want to go back!) and I've never really been that fussed about shopping and pubs.

I don't have kids though so maybe that's why it's not so bad.

I'm more sad that I've broken my ankle so I can't exercise.

Cornettoninja · 18/12/2020 16:32

@Cantstandsmugness (lol) and who exactly are you to tell me where I can and can’t post?

@Cornettoninja I'd bow out. It's not worth it. Can't argue with stupid. None of them have had it or looked after anybody with it I suspect. That's why they can't accept what's going on.
There's another thread on aibu about people showing lack of empathy re covid/lockdown. Vast majority of posters on it are justifiably frustrated but recognise that the virus cannot be allowed to run wild otherwise it will swamp the NHS and affect covid and non covid related care.

Iheartmysmart · 18/12/2020 16:41

A bit like Neil Ferguson who probably hasn’t got a sum right since primary school being caught out visiting his mistress despite telling the rest of us to stay home or we’d kill hundreds of thousands of people.

Cornettoninja · 18/12/2020 16:47

I’d quite like an answer from @Cantstandsmugness first Schonerlebnis.

Cantstandsmugness · 18/12/2020 16:47

Or Tobias Ellwood who had an xmas dinner with 27 guests at a private members club! He said it followed strict guidance and they didn’t pull Christmas crackers Grin

arevioletsreallyblue · 18/12/2020 16:47

Climbing over the bodies of other issues to shove yours in peoples faces is crass and offensive.

I 100% agree. Climbing over the bodies of people who are on the brink of suicide, will never financially recover and are seeing their lives torn apart in every way by screaming at them 'Atleast you're not dead, count yourself lucky' and 'be grateful for what you have' is crass and offensive Hmm

I’m tired of tiptoeing round their fragile little sensibilities and whining.

And I'm tired of tiptoeing round the fragile little sensibilities and whining of people who screech 'you're putting me at risk' when you dare to come within 3 ft of them in the supermarket because they've spent 5 fucking minutes hovering over the potatoes. Or who claim that anyone who decides to put themselves first just once is a selfish Fucker and putting them at risk despite having nothing to do with them - mind your own fucking business. Guess what, I think you're a selfish fucker for asking me to tank my own mental health to keep you safe from a virus you have a 99% chance of being fine with. I think you're a selfish fucker for 'doing the right thing' by staying in, getting your food delivered and take seats, forcing people like me to work more hours, put myself more at risk, and then lamenting me when I do catch covid because it's obviously because I broke the roolz and not because it's impossible to social distance in the job I do Hmm

Everyone is 'selfish' in this pandemic. It's just for some people what's best for them happens to fall in the roolz and they conveniently forget that whilst they're living in their ivory towers someone has to facilitate their rule following.

Cornettoninja · 18/12/2020 16:51

For all of that to be relevant @arevioletsreallyblue you have to be absolutely sure that those people you’re talking about don’t also fall into the category you’re aligning yourself with. There’s a whole Venn diagram going on here.

Are you absolutely sure that’s the case or are you in fact pushing people struggling in between over the edge? Or does that not matter?

Iheartmysmart · 18/12/2020 16:52

@arevioletsreallyblue Well said!

arevioletsreallyblue · 18/12/2020 16:56

@Cornettoninja

What exactly are you asking me? You've posed very vague fluffy questions. Ask me something proper and I'll give you an answer

Cantstandsmugness · 18/12/2020 16:58

@ Cornettoninja

I’m no one, just a fellow fed up person losing everything I’ve worked 35 years for a virus that kills a very tiny minority. IMO Mental Health is going to be a bigger problem than COVID is in the next 24 months. And on that note I’m going to bow out and just lurk. Happy Christmas!

Wrong.
I've had it.
My 2 best friends have had it.
My Grandmother has had it.
My nephews have had it.

All fine.

SomewhereEast · 18/12/2020 17:11

Ooohhh Niall Ferguson says Lockdown 3 might have to be stricter than Lockdown 2 presumably to prevent blokes from trekking across London for a shag

AntiHop · 18/12/2020 17:14

I find what helps is remembering how much worse off millions of people are in the world. People living without running water. Refugees living for years in tents. People living in fear of corrupt government. People with no access to healthcare.

I don't doubt that there are people in the uk with truly awful situations of course.

Onedropbeat · 18/12/2020 17:16

I’ve seen talk of this being actually expected to go on until 2025

That’s depressing if true!
