So disappointing for all the salons etc but I think it’s needed. However, it will be useless unless they also close schools.

It won’t be useless if the schools stay open but it would be better in terms of the virus not spreading if they closed (but worse in terms of education to do so).

Loopyloui · 17/12/2020 19:13

This is devastating for business there will literally be nothing left and this is all about saving the nhs I think there will be riots soon

AnyFucker · 17/12/2020 19:16

Bloody hell

Smallsteps88 · 17/12/2020 19:17

Agree @Loopyloui, there will be riots because this won’t be the last lockdown, because without closing schools (which they won’t do- understandably) this lockdown, like the previous, will achieve nothing.

OP posts:
Loopyloui · 17/12/2020 19:22

I hope they do riot it is fucking ridiculous they made the cuts and everyone has to pay

gallbladderpain · 17/12/2020 19:26

Our school sent home packs today for circuit breaker ?
I do think they will at least go to blended learning but I don't think they will close schools the whole 6 weeks maybe a couple of weeks at beginning of January or blended learning approach

It has to include schools....the last 2 lockdowns haven't brought numbers down enough because schools are open. If you have a couple of children in school you end up connected to 60 other families at least
It's not fair to continually lock down hospitality, who lets face it, haven't been open long enough this year to be the cause of the spread but to keep schools open everytime

What happened to the uk wide agreement about a travel window from 23-27 December?? Jeez I hope queen Nicola doesn't get wind of this, I'm sure she'd have Scotland banged up tomorrow if she had her way!

Smallsteps88 · 17/12/2020 19:32

Not sure how this will be impacted. I haven’t seen any mention of travel restrictions. Yet.

Looks like the Christmas bubble will still be allowed until the 27th. It does look like there will only be limited reopening of schools in January. Schools were closed for an extra week here at Halloween.

Smallsteps88 · 17/12/2020 19:37

Local MLA is saying 3 house bubbling will be allowed up until the 26th so that’s cutting short the 5 days of Christmas that was allowed.

No household mixing except in an emergency!

8pm curfew for the first week (to start Hmm)

I don’t understand an 8pm curfew. What is this based on? Is there a lot of post dinner spreading?

So people can stay have an unlimited number of people from 3 households plus their existing bubble in their home for Christmas and stay overnight as well until the 27th but on the same day they can’t even go for a walk with a friend. That makes sense. Hmm

Maybe we turn into pumpkins on the stroke of 8 p.m.

JaggyJumper · 17/12/2020 19:54

@emmathedilemma Nicola is the only one out the 4 that hasn’t had a second lockdown so as much as I can’t stand her if she wanted us locked down she could have.

I’m dreading what’s to come in January, all for these few days

It makes no sense does it? Very confusing.

Its fucking ridiculous. Its not going to work unless they close the schools.
DD was supposed to be kept on from her Christmas job but now they can't do it Angry

halcyondays · 17/12/2020 20:02

Close the schools for crying out loud.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 17/12/2020 20:03

This has confused the heck out of me - my mum was supposed to be visiting us in England from NI but now she can’t?

What date was she coming? I haven’t heard anything mentioned about travel restrictions. If she is coming to you in England and you aren’t under lockdown then she should be ok?
OP posts:
emmathedilemma · 17/12/2020 20:19

@JaggyJumper a large part of the population was in Scottish level 4 for a number of weeks which was basically the equivalent of lockdown 2 in England.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 17/12/2020 21:12

Smallsteps She’s coming from the 23rd to the 27th and we are in tier 2. I think this means she can still come?

It's only for the first week of lockdown... I think it's an attempt to prevent NYE parties

Cannotcope4223 · 17/12/2020 21:38

This has really knocked me for 6. We’re in the west and only had 11 deaths in weeks and weeks - yet I’m facing another lockdown on the barest bones of my arse AGAIN alone with a 7 yr old. Fuck this.

Yes I think she will be ok. She’s leaving NI before the lockdown starts and they won’t prevent her going home from the airport on the 27th.
