Anyone had a positive test without a temperature and cough?

I’m worried I might have some of the symptoms but I definitely do not have a temperature and not really much of a cough if at all

I’d normally assume a cold but this close to Christmas and meant to be meeting family finally I’m a little nervous to say the least

But I don’t have the symptoms listed to get a test

Yes all with a cold here tested positive 11 days ago. No temp, cough or loss of taste or smell

DailyPotion · 17/12/2020 09:23

I had a very slight tickly cough and a runny nose when I tested positive. Temperature didn't start until about 4 days in and I lost my sense of smell after a week.

whatswithtodaytoday · 17/12/2020 09:25

If you're seeing family I would get a test. But is it really worth risking it to see family anyway? You can't guarantee you're safe.

Pinksmartie230316 · 17/12/2020 09:26

Me! Tested positive on Friday with a runny nose. Still not had a temperature and only lost sense of smell for a day.

SugarCoatIt · 17/12/2020 09:28

My friends Husband tested positive and was completely asymptomatic.
I think it obviously effects everyone differently so it is possible/plausible I suppose.

Dowhatyoudowell · 17/12/2020 09:36

Can I ask why you are all having a test when you don’t have the specific symptoms stated on the NHS website that qualifies you to have a test?

This is why there has been some horrendous problems for those with the actual symptoms getting a test.

Our area is now asking everyone to test
SomethingsBrewing · 17/12/2020 09:41

We had common cold symptoms. No fever. No cough. No loss of smell. There was an outbreak at nursery and we were due to meet someone who is medically vulnerable. As we felt bit ropey we decided to test. We were positive. Do it.

I am having this dilemma. I've had a sore throat all week, no other symptoms and it has eased now. I contemplated getting a test, but to do so I would have had to lie. But there is a chance I've got it as not everyone has the classic symptoms.
FoodDrive · 17/12/2020 09:44

Dowhatyoudowell The original problems getting tests have now been sorted. No one I know has had any problems getting tested with symptoms over the last month.

In this case though I would say OP has got a symptom - she has a cough

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/12/2020 09:45

Yikes, DD and I both had 'colds' last week/over the weekend (but none of the 'classic' three COVID-19 symptoms). We have carried on as usual.

LindaEllen · 17/12/2020 09:45

Me and DP were both positive before the temp and cough started - we just felt generally unwell. The cough came a little later for both of us, and DP got a temp but I never did.

MrsWooster · 17/12/2020 09:47

My extended family almost all began with horrible migraines and some never got the ‘big 3’ symptoms apart from a very minor temperature later in the illness.

Because, if you read the comments, it's very clear that the three listed symptoms are not the only symptoms.

Also, in some jobs you get tested as standard regularly.

The reason people are struggling to get tests is not because people are getting tests, it's because the government has not put enough resources into the operation.

notangelinajolie · 17/12/2020 09:49

Appointments for tests are very easily available where I am in the NW. I just booked one for my DD and I could have picked anytime I wanted - the first one was in 15 mins time.
She has a cough but no other symptoms.

Vanillaradio · 17/12/2020 09:51

Yep positive test with no symptoms at all (this was in July when no shortage of tests,). I tested because dh had symptoms- he tested negative, me positive!

2020out · 17/12/2020 09:52

"not much of a cough" sounds like you have a cough.

My cough comes about once every thirty minutes. It's still a cough and it's definitely covid.

Onedropbeat · 17/12/2020 09:52

Wow I didn’t realise that it could present in just the same way as a cold

This time of year you’d expect to catch colds normally

Il have to get a test

I’ve had plenty of tests whiteout having symptoms before as I’ve had a lot of time in and out of hospital but not has to do one myself

No, that was because Dido Harding didn't realise the return to education in September would result in an increase in demand.

My not much of a cough was having maybe 3 small coughing episodes yesterday afternoon. Nothing before and nothing since.

So maybe that’s a good sign.

My throat was most sore last night but is subsiding today.

Sore throat started at weekend

Hope you're well soon, OP Xmas Smile

Pinksmartie230316 · 17/12/2020 10:25

We have mass testing in our area. For what it's worth I work in a primary school and had I not tested when I did and carried on working until I lost my sense of smell I could have infected a lot of people. That's without taking into consideration that my own children would have still attended their respective schools. As it is we have isolated and no one else in my bubble is showing symptoms so far, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Pinksmartie230316 · 17/12/2020 10:26

That was in reply to Dowhatyoudowell. Haven't worked out how to quote yet!

WishMyNameWasWittyNotShitty · 17/12/2020 10:28

I had a slight cough that I wouldn't usually have worried about, more like a throat clear, I didn't considered continuous, however a member of the household then showed a 'definite' symptom, and so I tested to find I was positive.

The temperature never came, however the loss of taste/smell came on day 4, and the fatigue just appeared out of nowhere.

Hope you are ok!

Cornettoninja · 17/12/2020 10:28

@Onedropbeat you’ve literally just described one of the criteria for testing. Get a test.

Re: tests - Tests are much more widely available now after the September shit show. The government realised pretty sharpish that they would fuck themselves if they limited testing so capacity has been dramatically increased and is much, much quicker now. Stop spreading misinformation about it, that’s really dangerous,
