I just had a play on that calculator. If you click on 'advanced mode' (it's at the bottom of the list of questions) you can change the number of vaccines given per week. In 'simple mode' I'm not getting mine until June, but if I change number of vaccines given per week to 3 million (based very roughly on 1000 GP surgeries giving 400 per day plus a few mega-centres giving a couple of hundred thousand per week) then my date leaps forward to February. Hurrah!

BlueBlancmange · 17/12/2020 16:44

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

I am June-September Grin

Seriously, they have assumed a maximum speed of a million a week but subject to supply it could actually go a lot faster than that, given medium sized gp practices have been doing 400+ a day and there are supposedly going to be 1200 gp practices involved plus hospitals and big centres.

Me too.

@FuzzyPuffling

Anyone want to find out when they might get their vaccine?

www.omnicalculator.com/health/vaccine-queue-uk

I'm really hoping it's better than this, as mine might not be until the end of April, and I'm CV. But a bit of fun!

Second half of 2021 for me!
FourTeaFallOut · 17/12/2020 17:06

Apparently I'm up in January or February. That would be brilliant! I'm looking forward to not being the weakest link in the house Grin

chri55ie · 17/12/2020 17:07

I’m 48 too and got June-
September. Think they have lumped everyone else under 50 together

tobee · 17/12/2020 17:22

I got June which is slightly disappointing but I'm not as old and knackered as I thought! It's the good news thread right? Grin

My Dh is January 2021 so that's good!

ChristmasinJune · 17/12/2020 17:49

Well I have a dilemma. I'm March/April if I contact the doctors and let them know my BMI is over 40. Or June otherwise. I kind of feel like I shouldn't move up the queue due to being a fatty!!!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/12/2020 17:56

Oh please tell them, Christmas. It benefits all of us if the vaccines are used the most efficiently, which means the people most at risk regardless of why they are at risk.

ChristmasinJune · 17/12/2020 17:58

Good point @TheCountessofFitzdotterel

FuzzyPuffling · 17/12/2020 18:18

I'm 62 and CV and only a month ahead of you young 'uns!

My DH (55 and CEV) is Jan-Feb, but he has said he won't go out until I'm vaccinated too, since there's no guarantee about transmission.

  1. He's a very supportive husband
  2. Drat, I was looking forward to sending him out to the shops.
Which is it!!?

I agree. Look upon it as potentially helping the NHS for very little cost!

tobee · 17/12/2020 18:30

My ds is fantasying about going out to the shops with CEV Dh after February. But I'm not sure how it will work. There are so many things to factor in.

Definitely!!!

tobee · 17/12/2020 18:32

The nurse I know got it because, she said, her job, her age, her weight, her asthma. That was the order she put it.

tobee · 17/12/2020 18:44

Is that calculator based on Pfizer only or what?

FourTeaFallOut · 17/12/2020 18:47

It's just a calculator based on the population make up and assumptions about logistical capacity to administer jabs. I think you can play with that figure.

MadisonAvenue · 17/12/2020 18:52

I’m Jan- Feb too. Fingers crossed!

chri55ie · 17/12/2020 19:18

Can someone tell me why it’s taking much longer to authorise the Oxford vaccine compared to Pfizer? Not a criticism just a genuine question! Is it the different dosage efficacy causing an issue? Thanks

cathyandclare · 17/12/2020 19:20

I think this is a good and fair summary of the statistical challenges of the Oxford vaccine:

Ah thanks @cathyandclare

Really interesting, thanks for sharing this. I work in this field so managed to comprehend most of what he was saying at a superficial level at least (I’m not a statistician...)
Crumpetycrump · 17/12/2020 20:11

I read it but didn’t understand very well - please could you summarise in layman’s terms? Thank you.

tobee · 17/12/2020 20:17

Although it's good to see famous people getting the vaccine to up the uptake, I think it's good to see Prince Charles is saying he'll have the vaccine but must wait his turn as he's only 72.
