Carrying on from the old Ocado thread. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/a4045676-Ocado-tips-hacks-Toblerone-and-Christmas?msgid=102560793#102560793

I have been contributing, just changed my name to prevent being outed over something!

@Florelei I’m near Durham and have had no major issues with slots or availability since around June, they only started delivering to us last January and we have no Waitrose option locally so pretty happy really. But no free shortbread.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/12/2020 20:24

I have a slot for the 30th. This is a massive relief! I don't have to buy for New Years this Friday!

LloydBC · 16/12/2020 23:17

Just cancelled my Christmas slot for the 22nd - £9.99 with a £90 minimum, no thank you.

Have a free slot, with a £40 minimum with Waitrose instead.

I feel liberated!

Olinguito · 17/12/2020 00:09

I've cancelled my Ocado Christmas slot too - I don't want to pay £9.99 for delivery when I can now get it delivered free from Waitrose. With no guests coming I'm sure we can improvise if something is missing.

tootyfruitypickle · 17/12/2020 06:57

My HUGE order is coming today with only one sub!

Now to make space in the freezer (I double ordered in case stuff didn't come on christmas eve!) This is going to be a mission....!!

Fuss · 17/12/2020 10:02

My last order before Christmas is coming today. I have one missing item. A Swede.

Fuss · 17/12/2020 12:04

One bottle of bleach with the cap loose. Fortunately I noticed it before it covered me. Bag full of tins for MIL shop covered in it. Couldn't send it back as its stuff she needs so wound up taking the lot into the downstairs loo and cleaning it off.

Noflora · 17/12/2020 12:11

Last order before Christmas for me today (I cancelled my 23rd Dec one). 2 missing items, no subs, apparently no bread in the whole warehouse to sub with. I am fed up with Ocado, there are so many things I used to buy that they no longer stock, which leads me to place other orders with Waitrose and a rotation of Sains, Morris, Tesco. It's a pain remembering what from where.

BuntysTwinkle · 17/12/2020 15:47

I can now book a Christmas Eve slot if I want to. I think I will stick with the 21st though, I feel more comfortable knowing I can go to the shops if I need to rather than find out on Christmas Eve that something is missing.

Things like Harry Potter choc sorting hats, etc are all available now. Unfortunately I've already finished buying that sort of thing. I understand that things have been very difficult this year, but it's a shame Ocado couldn't have got it together before we were a week away from Christmas.

BuntysTwinkle · 17/12/2020 15:50

apparently no bread in the whole warehouse to sub with

This is the most annoying thing. For everyday items, most people will accept any loaf of whatever kind of bread they like in place of their preferred brand. Same for milk. Even if it is all automated, it shouldn't be too hard to add that variation.

bruffin · 17/12/2020 18:21

I ordered the light up gin liquor on the day christmas orders opened up
Just had an email saying it wont be coming for my delivery on 23rd. It was a christmas present for DD. Im really not happy

CarryOnFestiveNamechanging · 17/12/2020 18:45

I’ve cancelled my Christmas order with them. I resent paying the £10 delivery charge when half the stuff I want is out of stock so I’ll have to go to a supermarket anyway.

Today’s Ocado delivery was my smallest one ever, half the normal spend,. When I tried to edit and add things on Tuesday the website was down so I couldn’t! Mouldy satsumas and no fresh tomatoes today.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 18/12/2020 15:05

My video - at last! Star (I'm clearly ridiculously easily pleased.) Blue eggs. Blue eggs ...

StanfordPines · 18/12/2020 18:14

My last delivery before Christmas came today with week long dates on the fresh stuff. I was surprised at the sausages which normally only have a few days on them.
Only a couple of missing items, nothing I can’t live without. One was the hot chocolate that I am the best buyer of in the whole country!

Noflora · 18/12/2020 18:14

Just had a look. Lots of Christmas slots including the 24th available. Pretty full stock level, eg every turkey size and crowns etc. Have so many customers cancelled or WTF?

Noflora · 18/12/2020 18:15

The big turkeys have £15-20 coupon off btw

herecomestheSon · 18/12/2020 18:17

The big turkeys had a coupon earlier this week- but no availability

StanfordPines · 18/12/2020 18:17

I bet a lot have. A combination of so much being out of stock and changes in Christmas plans.

PowerslidePanda · 18/12/2020 21:22

So many of us have cancelled our Christmas slots now! I'd love to know if Ocado have actually realised the failings which have led us to this, or if they're sat their scratching their heads about the high cancellation rate.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/12/2020 21:26

Minor confusion with my sainsbury's delivery this evening when the driver presented me with a crate of veg rather than the alcohol I was hoping for. Thankfully it was easily remedied.

Justajot · 18/12/2020 22:35

At the moment they probably aren't too fussed about cancelled orders. There aren't any delivery slots available, so it looks like there haven't been enough cancellations to make a dent in their sales.

It's interesting to see that some people didn't get a "you were the top purchaser of..." in their video. That makes me suspect we really are the top purchaser of something in our county. I assume they have left some categories out, you'd hardly want to know you were the top purchaser of Bazuka in Surrey.

At least they didn't tell us how much we spent in the year like my credit card company insists on doing, though not with a cheesy video.

LloydBC · 18/12/2020 23:45

Lots of Christmas week delivery slots now appearing for me - in Hampshire - and those weren’t available before.

I miss the Waitrose staples too much, and so far Waitrose are really delivering with minimal missing items / substitutions.

Justajot · 18/12/2020 23:48

We're not far from the main depot and there are no slots for us until the new year (other than the ones we have already booked). We're in the subset of customers that Ocado has treated most favourably over the past year, so I'd expect to see slots if any were available.

Justajot · 18/12/2020 23:51

I guess local driver/van capacity is the limiting factor if some areas have availablity and others don't.

BuntysTwinkle · 18/12/2020 23:52

It really feels to me like they felt people would only need to start buying Christmas stuff from 8-9 days before Christmas. Stock levels suddenly went from bare minimum to just about everything fully stocked. Everything I was frustrated that I couldn't buy weeks ago suddenly popped into being!

I don't even need to look to know that there are probably only men running the show at Ocado Grin
