Carrying on from the old Ocado thread. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/a4045676-Ocado-tips-hacks-Toblerone-and-Christmas?msgid=102560793#102560793

I have been contributing, just changed my name to prevent being outed over something!

I'm pretty sure I've read before they are not allowed to accept cash tips. I probably wouldn't anyway as it's always a different driver and I assume they get paid better than your average take away delivery person...

spongedog · 22/12/2020 17:15

Ocado here, yesterday for me and mum - no substitutions or missing items. Then took me the rest of the day to sort out and deliver to hers (local, dropped off, waved and ran). Lovely chat with the driver and he was early. I would almost have said they were less busy - I wonder if they have fewer, but larger drop offs this week. They are often late to me - the Dartford depot gets very caught with M25/Dartford Crossing problems

PoulePouletteEternellement · 22/12/2020 17:21

Presumably, spongedog, adding your mother's address to your account doesn't work well for you? (I guess it might mean too few deliveries between you?) But it would save your time, if she is able to sort and put away herself.

I used to have my mother on my account. Now she has her own and is allowed more deliveries than I am. Xmas Angry

BentBastard · 22/12/2020 18:12

I tipped (and he happily accepted). I tipped on the basis that it was a massive delivery and it was Xmas.

He certainly didn't react as if he expected a tip, more a pleasant surprise.

BuntysTwinkle · 22/12/2020 19:08

I always assumed they get paid more for Christmas deliveries and that's why we are charged a tenner. I hope that's the case...

Heads up - Ocado have some of the M&S mini meals listed as full size ready meals, so have a close eye at the packaging before buying. They sold me one as a flash sale item when it was actually full price, bit sneaky!

Quarantino · 22/12/2020 19:27

I don't usually read privacy policy updates in detail, but they've just sent out a headsup that they've amended their privacy policy. It now includes (not sure what it said before re Facebook):

"Facebook - Ocado Retail may share customers' personal data (mobile numbers and email addresses) with Facebook Ireland for the purposes of:

Identifying customers who use Facebook so we can advertise products we think would be of interest to them based on their Facebook profile.
Serving non Ocado Retail customers targeted marketing about our products and services on Facebook. This is done if we think that they are likely to be interested in our goods and services based on whether their profile matches those of our Customers.

Ocado Retail and Facebook Ireland are Joint Data Controllers for this processing and both parties have entered into a written agreement that sets out their respective responsibilities for carrying out the processing in a GDPR compliant manner. This includes a requirement for Ocado Retail to provide our customers with details of the processing we carry out (as detailed above) and an acknowledgment that Facebook Ireland will be responsible for enabling Data Subjects' GDR rights for any Personal Data it stores after the Joint Processing.

For further information about how Facebook Ireland processes your personal data, including the legal basis they rely on and the ways you can exercise your rights over the data they hold about you please visit www.facebook.com/about/privacy."

I assume the phone number is because Facebook can hold users' phone numbers (if they elect to give it to FB, which I don't).

One more sleep till I find out what we're having for Christmas dinner. I won’t get chance to go out for any missing stuff

I tip the driver on the Christmas delivery. The only other time I’ve tipped is when a driver found my lost £20 well outside my property line but was my cash and asked was it mine. He could have pocketed it and no one would have known

Fuss · 22/12/2020 23:04

I had a realisation in town earlier. Obvious really but Ocado reduce some things that are still more expensive in stores.
Piercy Pig biscuit tins are £5 in store but £2.50 on ocado.

That said ocado don't sell Percymass Pies. Ohh no.

Goslowlysideways · 23/12/2020 06:29

I had a few subs which were mostly ok. But the fruit was pretty poor. I've had 6 months of £1.99 delivery charges and from January it's 9.99. I think I'll cancel my smart pass. I don't like the M&S stuff. I miss Waitrose and the ocado fruit and veg aren't great.

bruffin · 23/12/2020 07:30

Anyone having problem with the ap, i cant sign in. Ive got order coming at 11.30 i think

viccat · 23/12/2020 07:37

The moment of truth is here and the invoice email has landed...

3 missing items; Christmas Colin the Caterpillar mini cakes, M&S Plant Kitchen vegan chorizo sausages, and a homeware item I'd only added as it was in the winter sale.

The first two are annoying as they were in my order from the very beginning but all things considered totally non-essential. I'm relieved overall.

bruffin · 23/12/2020 07:43

Im on pc now. Just missing some brie bakes and no subs!, but tbh i dont have veg and only a gammon for meat. Ive got a christmas oddbox arriving tonight.

Birthdayhat · 23/12/2020 07:43

Relief here too, no chocolate Santas for the stockings though :( Otherwise just crackers for crackers (the eating kind!).

Onceuponatimethen · 23/12/2020 07:53

Glad to hear about all shops arriving with only a few missing items / subs

RaggieDolls · 23/12/2020 07:55

Just had my email for my delivery today..... just missing mini marshmallows. Really happy with that Xmas Smile

Ontheboardwalk · 23/12/2020 07:56

All good here thankfully. Subs for eggs and pigs in blankets. No mash and missing one lot of bacon

Turkey, brandy sauces, pudding, veg and fruit all being delivered

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/12/2020 07:58

I'm just waiting for the text from the driver now. Email says there are a few missing items, but they're all items I bought as extras, no problem doing without them (all Isle of Wight speciality tomatoes, as it happens). They've subbed my gammon but the one they're sending is same sort of size and price, so that's OK. No black grapes so they're sending me some green ones - that's fine too, but I already have green ones in the order, so we won't go short on grapes over the next few days! Pretty pleased so far, and relieved.

Onceuponatimethen · 23/12/2020 08:22

Great news about another set of pretty complete deliveries.

At least they have so far managed to deliver almost everything for most of us Glitterball

beela · 23/12/2020 08:26

I had my Christmas delivery yesterday - all present and correct.

I can't get another delivery slot until 10th January though! Sad This is despite being a smart pass holder for years, and having a weekly delivery. I can't book a reserved slot either - they let me get through to the page where you cluck on the day to choose your slot but none of the days are clickable.

Our Aldi has just started click & collect, I am going to try them. I can't get half the things I want from ocado now anyway.

MyPersona · 23/12/2020 08:26

I haven’t had an email for my delivery due between 9 and 10 this morning and the site seems to be down. I can’t log in anyway. Eek!

Madcats · 23/12/2020 09:06

I was up at 6 for my Waitrose delivery (3 sensible subs and, unsurprisingly for that time of day, no newspaper).

It was worth setting an alarm for the first day of our 'holiday' to save fighting round the shops. I have that similar light-headed/excited feel that I get if we need to get to the airport for an early morning flight (except that I am not going to venture further than the butchers).

I hope Santa manages to sort your orders.

These threads have given me the opportunity to rant, leaving the family unscathed.

Fuss · 23/12/2020 09:58

Let’s take a moment to celebrate the first anniversary of Ocado driving over my lawn and the driver trying to hide the fact he’d done it (it was dark, we watched him on cctv). He was rude, surly and really couldn’t give a shit.
I had to argue for the return of my delivery fee and, twelve months on I long gave up waiting for their ‘insurers’ to deal with it and dealt with it myself. It took a stinking letter to the ceo for them to actually apologise.
22foot long and over a foot deep in places.

Just another reason Ocado can kiss my arse when this is all over.

NotGenerationAlpha · 23/12/2020 10:11

@beela What do you mean you have a weekly delivery and reserved slot? I have been just booking the same slot manually 4 weeks ahead. (I remember seeing an email about reserved slots are back but they are midweek only). I think it depends on the area. But I can get one for tomorrow if I want to. Otherwise, the next available is 5/1. But I've got every sunday booked until 17/1 currently.

mumof1879 · 23/12/2020 10:13

Ours all came minus our Christmas dinner sausages. All meat dated until Boxing Day, which is a bit disappointing as we needed to stretch it longer as no slot until 2nd Jan as forgot our usual slot fell on Boxing Day.
But all in all very good, and was expecting much worse!

FurForksSake · 23/12/2020 10:21

My order is coming this evening, two subs of like for like (ish) items. So pleased, we are in isolation till Christmas day as I have covid so this is brilliant news to us.
