I have been contributing, just changed my name to prevent being outed over something!

Good luck @viccat and @BesideTheFire and anyone imminently expecting an order!

CoteFolie · 21/12/2020 13:22

I think I made the right choice to switch.

Me too. Everything in my Waitrose order according to the receipt and no substitutions.

Thank you Waitrose Thanks- now if I could only get a regular slot. Xmas Smile

I agree. If I could get a regular pre booked slot like I do with Ocado I’d swap straight away.
BuntysTwinkle · 21/12/2020 13:33

We got our whole shop, so I'm happy, but it was only me and DS for Christmas Day so I hadn't ordered a lot.

Mominatrix · 21/12/2020 13:44

My order is due to be delivered tomorrow. I initially placed the order when slots opened up months ago and amended it a few weeks ago. No problems then of items not available and i’m curious to see what does not turn up tomorrow.

I thought about cancelling my Smart Pass as I am not ecstatic about the M&S move, but the Brindisa and Natoora goods keep me hooked. Luckily I have easy access to Waitrose stores to fill in missing items.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 21/12/2020 13:46

Our Waitrose order is coming this evening, only a couple of small items missing.
I feel more forgiving about Waitrose having missing items because I understand it comes from the supermarket.
But Ocado is an online business and are supposed to have a super duper IT system for managing their stock. If they can't do that, what's the point.

herecomestheSon · 21/12/2020 14:38

Today in supermarket deliveries

Ocado have a lot of half price turkeys.

I was planning to buy a half price goose but ended up getting a half price free range cockerel instead.

We have some chicken and duck in the freezer in case it doesn't arrive. It is due on the morning of 24th

The last supermarket delivery was from Waitrose and was missing half the stuff. Apparently they had no milk and no bread to substitute. My husband looked surprised that there wasn't much there and the delivery driver told me to call Waitrose as it was just so chaotic.

GiantKitten · 21/12/2020 15:05

Just had text from Ocado and I’m not getting sticky toffee trifle either, @Egghead68 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve never had it so won’t really miss it (it was a recommendation on here) but they’ve clearly got a sticky toffee problem this week Sad

(The only other thing missing is 3 bags of logs - I bet that’s a van space issue as each bag gets its own crate. But we’ve still got a few, and can get similar locally)

Fuss · 21/12/2020 15:41

Spoke slightly too soon. Everything there, driver lovely, but the date on my boxing day food pack is the 23rd December. I can't see anything online about freezing it either...

www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/78-piece-party-pack/716865-671010-671010

Have had a frantic game of freezer Jenga and froze it anyway, then emailed Waitrose CS to ask. I'd assume you can freeze it? I hope so anyway....

Egghead68 · 21/12/2020 16:11

Oh blimey @fuss - not good to send out Christmas food with a best before date of 23rd!

Autumnnightsaredrawingin · 21/12/2020 16:50

Our Ocado is booked for tomorrow am. Will report back then.

NotGenerationAlpha · 21/12/2020 16:55

The best before date should be fine. I have two pizzas with best before date of 22/12. I plan to eat it on christmas eve for lunch. Too big to fit into my freezer so I've just left them in the fridge. They don't go mouldy just like that. The date is really for best sold before in the supermarket.

NastyBlouse · 21/12/2020 16:56

I had an Ocado delivery this morning. Only thing subbed was Harrods mince pies for M&S ones. And the driver was lovely and very helpful and extremely handsome and muscly Blush

A lot of our fresh stuff has a best-before of 23 Dec as well, though. It's not a disaster as I can get potatoes and carrots etc locally. And 'best before' is not the same as 'use by'. But it's a bit rubbish sending out Christmas orders with food that only has a couple of days of product life left on it.

Now it's just fingers crossed that the turkey turns up from the farm shop...

Ellmau · 22/12/2020 00:09

I’ve never had it so won’t really miss it (it was a recommendation on here) but they’ve clearly got a s's off to the shops for meticky toffee problem this week

Obviously lots of people saw the same recommendation!

Last order here was 17 December, not another one until 3 January. I have had a few opportunities for a 22 Dec, but I'm not paying £10 extra for my normal order, so it's off to the shops for me on Christmas Eve (was going away, now can't so need food). Hope not all sold out ...

ElectricEels · 22/12/2020 05:14

Order coming today is only missing a single can of hard seltzer I was trying as I had a coupon. Everything else is there with sensible dates- anything party food like is Saturday or Sunday. I'm very relieved!

Justa47 · 22/12/2020 06:30

I agree the M and S thing is a disaster. Sticking with it until Covid over.

Onceuponatimethen · 22/12/2020 07:02

@ElectricEels and @BuntysTwinkle really glad you have everything! It’s such a relief isn’t it

Fingers crossed for anyone else with a pre-Xmas delivery yet to come. SIL is getting hers today so I’m hoping she gets what she wanted.

ElectricEels · 22/12/2020 07:06

@Onceuponatimethen such a relief. I couldn't bear the thought of traipsing out to the shops.

Onceuponatimethen · 22/12/2020 07:12

I know! I said to my dp I could now write a book on the outdoor shopping options in our area (coffee vans, outdoor veg stalls etc). I’m avoiding going into shops as long as I can.

ElectricEels · 22/12/2020 07:27

@Onceuponatimethen same Grin. Watch my delivery arrive missing half the stuff now....

BentBastard · 22/12/2020 07:27

Have my Xmas delivery coming this morning. 3 subs in a massive order, a gammon, some pate and stuffing. The subs are fine but it's a little irritating as these things went in the trolley in October. I know it doesn't work like that and they're not ring fenced, but still.

Anyway, better than expected in my case.

Good luck to rest of you.

ElectricEels · 22/12/2020 07:28

@BentBastard that's so annoying. I feel like Ocado should be able to ring fence things as it's not coming from a shop. Especially with so much notice!

Onceuponatimethen · 22/12/2020 07:35

@ElectricEels keeping fingers tightly crossed

@BentBastard that is really good news that you have almost everything and got subs for what couldn’t be delivered.

I guess Ocado can’t do much to provide the exact match if their suppliers come short, but notice would be good because then we could all have sourced the missing item from elsewhere

AuntieStella · 22/12/2020 07:38

Christmas Ocado order here - still unpacking but assuming that everything it says is there, is indeed there - then two substitutions, both rejected.
(One was double the price, the other just not a comparable item; neither was a Christmassy thing)

Really sorry to read about those who have had a delivery disaster

Mominatrix · 22/12/2020 07:38

All good here with my Christmas order. Only one substitution - seeded sourdough for rye sourdough, so no disasters. Phew!
