I've had my invite today and so have lots of my colleagues. NHS ward staff. My firat appointment is 17th December.

Thought it might be interesting to try to track the mexican wave of vaccination as it passes through the priority groups.

I’ve registered as work in a Care Home some staff from our group went today I couldn’t however so I’m waiting for my invite.

PrivateD00r · 09/12/2020 21:54

I was invited to book mine for next week because I am doing some vaccinator shifts. My colleagues haven't been offered yet as my trust are offering it initially to ECV staff and those working with the most vulnerable patients. I am a midwife and we aren't in that category.

DM had a text today - she is 81 with Alzheimer’s

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/12/2020 21:59

My dad, he’s 80 with mild health conditions.
However by the time he had worked out how to get to Basildon from the other end of Essex all the over 80s appointments had gone. This is probably a good thing as it shows take up is ok - there was a poster on here from the hospital saying it had been low.

Nootkah · 09/12/2020 22:36

Good to see a mix of care staff , NHS staff and over 80s!

great idea for a thread.

Smashedavacado · 09/12/2020 23:15

FIL aged 85 no health conditions (except a pace maker - not sure if this is relevant) and living in his own home. First booked for 15th December.

TheGreatWave · 09/12/2020 23:54

DH was advised today that MIL will be offered it upon hospital discharge, 88 years old. (89 this month)

Not quite what the paper implied, that all current inpatients over 80 were getting it.

starfish88 · 10/12/2020 06:27

My grandma is 91 and still hasn't been called. She's not in a nursing home though so might not be called yet.

Grobagsforever · 10/12/2020 06:49

Friend of a friend has had it, NHS doctor. DP's brother, NHS physio on lung ward.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/12/2020 08:28

My mum, NHS in a major hospital. She isn't normally frontline but has been this autumn. Date in early January.

Christmas1935 · 10/12/2020 09:29

I assume they only vaccinate inpatients when they are considered fit for discharge.

The vaccine probably hasn't been tested on seriously unwell patients in hospital and they don't want the sick to get sicker.

DH has his tomorrow. NHS Wales.

ThreeTwoOneGoo · 10/12/2020 18:53

It's good to hear lots are being offered. Would be interesting to see what area too

exexpat · 10/12/2020 18:56

Both parents are booked in for next week. Both over 80 and have multiple health conditions, particularly DF (diabetes, heart failure, COPD, history of pneumonia and more). Living in their own home with daily agency carers.

MissDollyMix · 10/12/2020 18:59

My friend’s mum is having it next week. Fit and healthy 86 year old

WithASpider · 10/12/2020 19:02

FIL booked in next week, 81 and minor health conditions. MIL annoyed that she has to wait because she's only 77.

daisypond · 10/12/2020 19:07

I’m really surprised at some of these. My parents are late 80s with health concerns and they don’t expect to hear anything for a while. They are in their own home. I’m alarmed if it’s being organised by text, as my parents don’t have mobile phones.

iolaus · 10/12/2020 19:13

Been offered it for some time between 14th Dec and 3rd Jan (had to give them a list of when available they will then contact with an appointment

I'm a community midwife in an area that has been deemed high risk, some of my colleagues in the same trust but cover a different geographical patch have been told they aren't eligible at the moment

PuzzledObserver · 10/12/2020 19:13

@daisypond I imagine it’s being organised by GP’s. If they have a mobile number they will use it - otherwise, they’ll send letters.

exexpat · 10/12/2020 19:45

Daisypond - my parents are in their 80s and don't use mobile phones; their GP practice called them on their landline to arrange the appointment.

Carriemac · 10/12/2020 20:12

DH and I are booked for Sunday
Both NHS workers in a large Hospital, and we're over 50

Frazzled2207 · 10/12/2020 20:36

this is all very positive, following with interest. in England at least it's only currently being offered in 50 hospitals, out of 200+, so I'm guessing if you're at or near one of those hospitals you'll be in luck, otherwise you'll have to wait a bit longer.
Anyone know if other hospitals are soon joining the 53?
