Get well soon x

wetasstenalady · 09/12/2020 10:48

Thank you

Am I being naive thinking it may just stay this mild?

I had it and it was even less than you describe. I'm on the shielding list as well and take three immunosuppressants. You'll more than likely be absolutely fine

I've just got through it and I was ok, had a sore throat, bit of a headache, weepy eyes and nose and tired towards the afternoon, I felt better after about 5 days. My OH, who is mega fit, fell runner, cyclist, hiker etc was really bad with it, could barely lift his head off the pillow, really suffered for over a week, so it doesn't matter how fit you are, it hits everyone in different ways. Lots of Vit D, paracetamol, not ibuprofen, it makes you vomit, and lots of rest.

wetasstenalady · 09/12/2020 13:20

Ahh I forgot that about the ibuprofen

I have been really ill it usually very fit do loads of cycling/spinning ... really hit me hard still recovering and have to be careful not to overdo things

DuzzyFuck · 09/12/2020 16:10

Not necessarily OP, my friend has it and she's just the same as you, slight sore throat and a bit tired. Nothing that would have kept her locked away in normal times.

That's really interesting (and glad for you) I read some of these are being used as treatments for covid..Glad to hear anyway DH is on them too.

anniegun · 09/12/2020 17:18

Just out of interest where do you think you caught it? Have you been contacted by Test and Trace?

kulaexchange · 09/12/2020 17:38

I've got similar symptoms at the moment op. Only noteworthy because I've not got the usual snotty nose and sore throat I associate with a cold at this time of year. I've not tested though as I don't have the symptoms. I know a lot of people, like you, have tested positive without having the three main symptoms but how did you get the test in the first place? Hope you continue to feel (mostly) well with it.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/12/2020 17:40

I'm also very vulnerable and had a very mild dose. I felt a bit rough. But had I not been forced to stay at home, I doubt I'd even have had time off work.

Well my husbands work colleague is also positive so possibly from work I've been off from having an op a couple of months ago so have been inside the whole time

@opheliascrayon wow really, so glad you were OK! That's really reassuring too as I have family members in a similar boat.

HallFloor · 09/12/2020 19:44

I'm the same. Started with a slightly skratchy throat on Sunday, that made me cough a bit. Only tested because I knew people at work would worry about the cough. So far, I've had far worse colds

Littlebelina · 09/12/2020 19:46

You can take ibuprofen with covid. There were some initial reports from France that it might cause issues but it quickly (by April) became evident it was fine. Nhs states you can take it. www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/how-to-treat-symptoms-at-home/ (you shouldn't take it with an empty stomach but that's a general not covid thing).

Ds had a mild temp and headache for a couple of days and was fine. Fingers crossed you will be too.

What I take was trialled I think , but has not since been used.
Remmy123 · 09/12/2020 20:46

Most people get it v midly you will be fine

Nameandgamechange123 · 10/12/2020 07:13

I also tested positive a few days ago and have almost exactly the same symptoms as you say. I'm thinking if it was going to get worse, it would have done so by now. We are very lucky!

pringlebells · 10/12/2020 07:14

My sister in law had a mild sore throat and lost her sense of taste and smell, otherwise fine

BibBobb · 10/12/2020 07:24

I'm awaiting a test result- up and down temperature, some loss of taste (but not all), sporadic cough but not continuous. There's been an outbreak in our school and school has closed so I thought I should test. However we were tested a fortnight ago with coughs and came back negative, so this could well just be that coming out as I haven't felt better since then. It's all moving off my chest and loosening up. I don't feel any different than I've felt before when I've been unwell.

wetasstenalady · 10/12/2020 22:30

Just started feeling fluey today I suppose I would be about day 3 or 4 today

OP posts:
ooherrmissus14 · 10/12/2020 22:40

I took a test on Tuesday and it came back as positive yesterday. Feel achy and tired but not too bad. I definitely got it from the school I work at as it's rife there. My husband also tested positive as well - he must have got it from me as he works from home. Took my dd11 for a test today too as she's now developed a cough and headache.
Just wish it would go away now!!
Hope you feel better soon xxx

HallFloor · 10/12/2020 22:45

I've developed a ridiculously blocked nose today (day 5 ish), like the passages have all shrunk. So, I'm struggling to breathe but not in any scary kind of way where my lungs are affected.

DH has slept most of the day, although has no symptoms as such. DS1 has a headache.

What happens for subsequent tests with the contact tracing?. E.g. presumably DH doesn't name me as a contact and my isolation doesn't have to start again from his first symptoms? If he does name me, how would they know I'm already isolating? Does he even need a test?

wetasstenalady · 10/12/2020 22:55

My 14 year old has developed a cough. I can't get a home test for some reason. How do I get him to a test centre if I'm positive and isolating?

OP posts:
HallFloor · 10/12/2020 22:58

I think you're allowed to go for a test but try again in the morning. They seem to have an allocation for the day.
