Apologies if this has been done already. But I believe they are starting vaccinations next week ?
I know life as we knew it isn't round the corner but when do people expect that this Tier system and not being allowed to see people can be dropped ?

I also think we will be living with tier system for the next 12/18 months, hopefully no longer. I’m hoping for a part return to the office by next spring.

I am trying to remember what there was between the end of lockdown 1 (hospitality reopening, was it, early July) and Tiers....

There was the rule of 6, that was introduced before Tiers. We were in Tier 1, and I remember thinking there really wasn't any difference between rule of 6 and Tier 1.

So, in terms of reversing it, once every area is stepped down to Tier 1, the next stage would be to relax the rule of 6.

Given that the vast majority of hospitalisations and deaths are in the over 75's, and the uptake is likely to be high in that group, I think that Easter is a fair shout for most if not all of the country to be in Tier 1.

When we can go further than that depends on uptake in the younger groups, as well as how quickly it can be offered.

I think mass participation events may be possible by the summer. I still think we will be wearing masks indoors until the end of next year.

@Ethelfleda

Why on earth did I click on this thread?? If this shit is going to actually carry on for years - decades even then what the fuck is the point of living? And that’s not hyperbole. I genuinely think I wouldn’t be able to carry on if that’s the case.

Can they seriously just completely ignore all
Of the negative effects of lockdowns to control a virus that has a fucking vaccine?? (Or multiple vaccines!)

Will they seriously just let victims of DV, poor mental health, lack of hospital appointments etc just fucking rot?? And carry on with the ‘if it’s not Covid, it’s not tragic’ narrative??

Nah. People are guessing. Various people on MN were also very sure that the spring lockdown would be in place for at least a year and that schools wouldn’t reopen until 2021.

I think spring to be generally out of the restrictions, with maybe some still in place around bigger events.
