In tier two? I think not However a family member is arguing with me that you can.

Its my mothers birthday just before Christmas - planning to take her and my uncle out for dinner as its our wedding anniversary as well. Tier 2.

I'll make use of the business exemption - mum, me and DH are all directors of our company - and we can "discuss" making my uncle a director also if need be.

It always goes through the company books as our annual Christmas party anyway so totally legit.

We were going to say we'd moved in together for the duration of covid for support but no need

Frazzled2207 · 03/12/2020 15:47

Not allowed however I am pretty sure most establishments will not strictly enforce (not saying I think that’s ok).
How these places will be able to make money through this is a mystery. They might as well remain closed. Basically unless weather good all socialising is banned. Dark times.

AcornAutumn · 03/12/2020 19:14

I imagine they rely on people being sick of cooking and staring at the same four walls.

Ginogineli · 03/12/2020 19:52

They lee not enforcing

My family has been offered a an area at one side of the room in a pub for pre Xmas meal - theres 20 of us

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/12/2020 20:20

So my colleagues and I that work together all day can’t go for a coffee after work but we can have a coffee whilst we have a business meeting in the cafe?

Is car sharing allowed? Two friends of mine have been car sharing the school run since school started back.

Joynot · 04/12/2020 09:20

Gino- 3 households can meet if it’s for xmas, maybe? Any other time, they can and will be fined if they are found out. And they are doing spot checks.

southeastdweller · 04/12/2020 09:41

No spot checks here. Fuck the guidance.

AcornAutumn · 04/12/2020 10:05

How would anyone know who was in your bubble anyway?

Joynot · 04/12/2020 11:23

They will do spot checks, trust me.
And the cafes and restaurants will be fined
It’s actually quite obvious to the restaurant staff
when people are not in a bubble. It’s a support bubble, not a social bubble
So one family with one single adult household or Vulnerable. It will start to happen everywhere and restaurants will have to stick to the rules or be fined, so they will start refusing.
And then some will decide that policing the situation is unfair and untenable and will close.

We had a bit of a head start with our tier 3 before lockdown

AcornAutumn · 04/12/2020 11:35

Joy - let's say I go for dinner with my best friend

how does anyone know we are a bubble or not?! (we are)

we are also both single households but I'm assuming we don't need to carry a copy of our council tax bills!

AcornAutumn · 04/12/2020 11:36

I don't see how a non-bubble can be obvious to staff unless there's about 20 of you, in which case they are unlikely to take your booking anyway.

clareykb · 04/12/2020 11:49

Several places in my LA were fined and closed in my area North East in October...they are spot checking in some places

AcornAutumn · 04/12/2020 12:07

what were they looking for please?
Joynot · 04/12/2020 12:13

At that level Acorn, you’re right, no-one could guess and it’s not going to raise any questions.
But if you get two couples or 4 women who obviously haven’t seen each other for weeks then it’s a bit of a clue.
But there still loads of ways round it. The business meeting is a big one. Although I swear they only put that in there because an MP got caught out.
If I take my nieces out no-one would argue that they’re not mine.

Joynot · 04/12/2020 12:15

I know 3 local restaurants that were fined. In the NW, just in our local area

KiposWonderbeasts · 04/12/2020 12:25

Given that North Yorkshire (T2) police are stopping cars driving from West Yorkshire (T3) and turning people back, I gather there will be a fair bit of spot checking.

(Announcement in the Yorkshire Post yesterday from NY police)

clareykb · 04/12/2020 13:25

Acorn Autumn, People in large groups, people making bookings for more than one household and also other non compliance there is a reporting button on the council website and I think the follow up from that.

NewLockdownNewMe · 04/12/2020 16:01

@Joynot - yes, our local pub has decided not to open partly because they don’t feel able to take on the responsibility of policing whether people are in bubbles together, and whether they’re coming in from T3.
