In tier two? I think not However a family member is arguing with me that you can.

Shouldn’t be up to the cafe to police this!

Sparklingbrook · 30/11/2020 08:13

No it shouldn't be. But it shouldn't be up to supermarkets to police the mask wearing and yet are expected to.

I don't know if there's any consequence for the hospitality venue if they have people in that lie and break the rules. But how would anyone know really?

timeforanewstart · 30/11/2020 08:18

No
Not in cafe , pub or restaurant in tier 2 only with your own household.
Pubs here are saying when you book they will ask that you are same household or bubble so pretty obvious what people would say , don't think pubs etc will be asking for proof as won't have time to enforce

NewLockdownNewMe “ As an educated professional”

Do you know for sure whether I’m allowed a bubble on top of care visits?

I’m a singleton. Thanks.

NewLockdownNewMe · 30/11/2020 14:42

@AcornAutumn I wasn’t trying to claim any superior knowledge - just responding to someone else claiming it should all be easy to understand if you’re an educated professional! My reading is that if you are receiving the care visits then you can also have a support bubble. If you’re doing the caring, I’ve not seen anything to say you can’t have a bubble as well.

That’s interesting, thanks.

This had to be policed by the cafes for a while, in tier 3, before lockdown.
I know some restaurants that closed because it was just too difficult.

Sunflowergirl1 · 02/12/2020 16:53

You can if you are working

I thought cafes were closed in tier 3?
Joynot · 02/12/2020 20:59

Acorn- sorry It’s confusing!
Before lockdown we were the first in tier 3. Restaurants were open but you could only go with your household. It was only a couple of weeks, then we went into lockdown.
New tier 3, restaurants are closed yes.

Oh I see.

So are department stores allowed to open in tier 3? I tend to imagine tier 3 as being full lockdown.

FlibbertyGiblets · 02/12/2020 21:26

Oops tier 2 here and met one of my friends inside a cafe today. Shit, what a nana. And her, too! She's super clever, like, MA in an esoteric subject clever. Aaaaaaargh.

I’d do this but tracing makes it a no go.
Joynot · 02/12/2020 21:39

Shops were open yes.
We’re in tier 2 now, so rules all changed again!

AcornAutumn · 02/12/2020 21:47

Tier 3 also, nonsensically, looks like no overnight stays with bubble?

Which is worse than lockdown? Wtf?

Katie517 · 02/12/2020 21:53

Tier 3 you can still stay overnight with your support bubble in either your home or theirs the overnight stays part that’s been in all the newspapers refers to holiday accommodation, hotels etc.

nearlynermal · 02/12/2020 21:58

We are welcoming bookings inside from one household and their extended bubble and multiple households for business dining. I have multiple university degrees and I still have no clue how this makes sense.

But if you look at the table I linked to....I realise the papers might have it wrong though.

Business meals are allowed
yawnsvillex · 02/12/2020 22:20

@AcornAutumn does Covid know the difference then between a business lunch and a family lunch?

Damn clever I tell you

Obviously I don’t make the law

In case it’s not clear, I certainly don’t approve of lockdown and all these idiotic rules.

www.squaremeal.co.uk/restaurants/news/-tier-two-rules-london-dining-out_9853

Despite the restrictions on household mixing, you are allowed to meet up with people from other households in a pub or restaurant if you are there for abusiness meeting, a loophole which is supposed to help those who work freelance or do not have permanent office spaces in which to meet.

MarieG10 · 03/12/2020 12:04

I have made use of the working clause....I don't have an office now near me so I meet colleagues and clients either at their work premises, but usually a cafe or restaurant. I used to meet people at home but the work clause requires a Covid risk assessment to meet someone at home.

I've not been questioned anyway

AcornAutumn · 03/12/2020 12:27

I told my sitter in March that we should form a company

She thought I was mad

I meant for visiting each other’s homes though.

AcornAutumn · 03/12/2020 15:28

Sister

How the fuck did autocorrect decide that?
