Our case rate is dropping quickly - Tier 2
Hospital pressure - Tier 3
Positivity rates still high - Tier 3

I'm hoping for Tier 2, but expecting Tier 3 until the 16th Dec

ShangelaLaqueefaWadley · 26/11/2020 07:38

Can cope with T3 for a couple of weeks, but please, not till March.

NatMoz · 26/11/2020 07:41

I would do anything to be tier 2 but we will probably be tier 3.

Gobacktothe90s · 26/11/2020 07:48

Can someone please sum up the difference between t2 and t3 as I thought there wasn't much difference as they took away the rule of 6 indoor mixing in tier 2

ShangelaLaqueefaWadley · 26/11/2020 07:49

People in GM have been under restrictions since July now.
We are a very large, densely populated city with high levels of deprivation. I know some people will claim that we must be 'not following the rules', but it's just the demographics of the city.

ShangelaLaqueefaWadley · 26/11/2020 07:50

Tier 2 is like the old Tier 3.

In the new T3, hospitality is takeaway only, hotels closed, swimming pools closed, all indoor entertainment closed, no mixing except public outdoor areas.

FlyingWithoutWingss · 26/11/2020 07:53

I'm really hoping for Tier 2. I actually feel nervous waiting for the announcement.

Sirzy · 26/11/2020 07:54

Yet liverpool have managed to get their cases down much more. They have dropped from about 600 per 100,000 mid October to 150 now.

Demographics certainly play a role but so does behaviour in the area and management from above. I think the delay on agreeing tier 3 for greater Manchester will mean than now they need to go back into tier 3 to allow the drops that are showing to continue workout risking them peaking up again when things are relaxed

moofolk · 26/11/2020 07:55

It's going to be high.

EggysMom · 26/11/2020 07:56

Nobody in government likes Andy Burnham. We'll be stuck in Tier 3, regardless of dropping R-rates.

ShangelaLaqueefaWadley · 26/11/2020 07:56

There's no way that people in Manchester just happen to be 'less compliant', than other cities. I don't have the answer for it, but people either follow the rules or don't regardless of where they live.

BeakyWinder · 26/11/2020 07:56

Sirzy, Liverpool has mass testing though doesn't it, which would pick up more asymptomatic people and reduce spread, reducing cases more quickly?

divafever99 · 26/11/2020 07:57

I'm expecting tier 3, and I have resigned myself to the fact we will be for the rest of the winter. We've had increased restrictions on us since July, and it almost feels "normal" now Sad

DottyWott · 26/11/2020 07:59

It’s just going to be tier 3 isn’t it? Can’t see it being any less

Sirzy · 26/11/2020 07:59

@BeakyWinder

That will have had an impact of course but them moving into tier 3 sooner will have had more of an impact because it reduced the mixing to start with.

The roll out of mass testing to tier 3 areas will hopefully help pull back control in them even more (and undoubtedly should have happened much sooner)

ShangelaLaqueefaWadley · 26/11/2020 08:00

They could put the highest areas like Oldham into Tier 3 maybe, and then the areas like Stockport into Tier 2 as they have almost half the cases, but they probably won't.

BeakyWinder · 26/11/2020 08:10

True Sirzy, but your post made it sound like "behaviour" was the main reason for the difference in rates, not the mass testing program only carried out in one city and not the other.

ChasingRainbows19 · 26/11/2020 08:12

Tier 3 unfortunately. Cases are dropping and have been for a while, but hospitals if anything like the one I work in are still busy with covid and still admitting new patients every day. This time round deaths aren’t as high which is amazing but more are staying in longer for treatment so less beds for other things....

I miss eating out! Hopefully it will be reviewed regularly! We’ve been so hard hit in this area since July I really worry about business and jobs. Tried to help buy from local business as much as possible. But doubtful it will be enough in some cases!

userxx · 26/11/2020 08:15

@Gobacktothe90s Pubs and restaurants in tier 3 can only open for takeaway food, if we end up in tier 3 for much longer our hospitality industry will be decimated. I'm praying for tier 2, i need to socialise...... in the pub with a massive glass of wine.

ChasingRainbows19 · 26/11/2020 08:16

Liverpool weren’t more compliant.. in fact when they went into restrictions lids jumped on the train that weekend to places like Chester, Warrington and Manchester. Manchester had loads of scouse accents that weekend funnily enough... not sure they all lived there somehow! They also had more government support with testing where as because Andy Burnham dared speak up we are in the bad books with the government playing politics.

Most people I know in Greater Manchester have followed everything from July. All around the country people have ignored rules. Our rates were higher on release of lockdown initially.

chipshopElvis · 26/11/2020 08:27

Tier 3 and feeling pretty depressed about it now.

Missfelipe · 26/11/2020 08:27

It seems hugely unfair that areas with low rates like Trafford are being held in lockdown by others...what if those areas never improve? We stay locked away long term?

LadyMSM · 26/11/2020 08:29

I am hoping for 2 but expecting 3 Sad
I live 6miles from city centre and work at the quays and its a ghost town, roads are dead, I need to be in work due to my job and there are hardly any of us in. Everyone I know has been very careful, but tbh maybe moreso in this lockdown than before it.

It will be 3 I recon
