Are you allowing teenage DC into friends houses?

I'm not. A walk outside, yes.
DD's friend and her parents aren't happy that we won't let DD go round for the afternoon. DD understands, and doesn't want to anyway.
They're not at same school so aren't 'mixing anyway'.
I shouldn't be feeling bad about this, right?

YANBU Op.

I also don't understand why some people think the rules don't apply to them. This will only get us locked down for longer.

Really! Do you seriously believe that it makes any difference anymore? The government has sent out so many mixed messages. Stay home. Eat out to help out. Return to offices, then back to staying home. I’m not listening anymore. I risk assess for myself. Keep a lid on things! Really! What about the impact that restrictions will have on mental health, job losses. Unemployment causes poverty and in turn reduces life expectancy! I work in a school and we are already seeing the impact of this situation on children’s anxiety levels and speech and language.

I know teens/20 year olds still meeting boyfriends for sex in the woods.Better they do it at home then like that , in my opinion

Well technically speaking, as far as the transmission of Covid-19 is concerned, it's better they do it al fresco actually Grin

I am not trying to justify the fact that DD has her BF here regularly, I know we shouldn’t be doing it according to the rules but it’s the fact that there seems to be some magic that stops them catching Covid from eachother at school that stops the instant they step outside that makes it ridiculous

Well, yes, the lack of virus control in schools IS absolutely ridiculous, and is leading to wholesale year group / class / group closures and many teachers being absent. Just because the guidance for one area of your child's life is woefully inadequate doesn't mean that you should be seeking to apply the same weaknesses elsewhere.

Much more sensible to say that because the controls in school are TERRIBLE, then controls elsewhere need to be as stringent as possible.

@Horsemad

Interesting thread.

Have just been consoling a friend whose 20yr old DD has 'found love' during this lockdown and actually stayed over at the new bf's house last week!! 😲

Friend is risk averse and compliant and is utterly horrified at her DD's behaviour. She has asked her not to do that again but the DD is still going out & seeing the bf and I can't imagine there's a lot of social distancing going on as she's got lovebites on her neck...

Some people just don't get it, do they? 🤔

Just coming back to this - it appears the friend's DD may now have caught Coronavirus... 🙄
You can imagine her mother's reaction! Whole family having to SI now. 🤨

Why are people SO stupid?
