If you’re in Liverpool, why on earth would you get tested?

I just don’t understand why healthy people would get tested and encourage more lockdowns?

Anyone in Liverpool? What are people’s thoughts on this mass testing?

Letter from professor of public health to Liverpool MPs explaining why this screening programme may not be a good idea.

@ReefTeeth

And this is probably why the UK won't get C19 under any sort of control.

Dh has been tested twice and I've been tested once because we were asked to do mass testings in Aus, even without symptoms.

Im in Aus too I only know 1 person who had the test, only cos he a truck driver and was going to Vic Dont know anyone who had it cos they had symptoms or been asked to as part of mass testing, which id refuse.

We are lucky here cos population is spread out and we could easily shut borders.
The state who had biggest outbreak is also the state with a huge population in small area

Just read Grapefruits link. Sounds very dodgy- some false reassurance and others false positives, having to isolate for no reason

And now they are talking about rolling this out in other random towns across the UK....

23k people tested
0.7% positive

I’d have thought it was better used in schools or maybe food factories etc rather than whole towns.

I’m also thinking it’s not really representative given it is a self selected study. Presumably those volunteering are the ones taking it seriously and likely being quite careful and observing rules. As we’ve seen on here those who wouldn’t take time off and don’t like rules and regulations, and are more likely to be non compliant or laissez faire about safety rules, would refuse to take tests anyway.

It would seem to make much more sense to do targeted screening of university students and schools, especially secondary schools. However perhaps that is what they want to check in a large pilot.
