Waiting times for test results

We are currently waiting for test results and I'm just wondering what peoples experiences have been lately time wise?

I was tested in the summer and got my results in about 12 hours (London).

How long did you wait and roughly where are you based?

36 hours Midlands

whataballbag · 06/11/2020 00:33

@neddle

Does anyone know if they only text results at ‘normal’ times? Ie 7am-8pm or could they potentially text during the night?
24 hours a day, I've had results at 4am before
neddle · 06/11/2020 00:39

@whataballbag
Thanks.

Dd got tested at 10am on Tuesday and we're still waiting. I work for NHS and booked her test via our occupational health thinking it would be quicker, deluded fool that I am.
I'm in Central Scotland - only took 30 hrs when dd was tested in August and that was via the government site.
We've now all been off school and work all week and I'm stressing at all the work that will have piled up whilst I'm off (admin, no one else covers my role).

ThisMustBeMyDream · 06/11/2020 00:44

Also had results in middle of the night before too. Last result took 34 hours. That was a few weeks ago. DP had one at 8am this morning so will see how long that one takes...!

Dinosauraddict · 06/11/2020 06:15

Our result came through in the night (before midnight but after I was asleep)!

chipshopElvis · 06/11/2020 06:59

20 hours, Manchester. Notification appeared in the app. Email went into junk, no text.

Longsleepneeded · 06/11/2020 07:22

My son was tested, posted back same day, never got results! We all ended up isolating over half term for 14 days!!! Rang 119 to escalate it , still no results! Very 😠

kirinm · 06/11/2020 07:27

Still nothing here. Really hoping that this doesn't end up a lost result.

London/Surrey test at 7pm Tuesday, results 6am Thursday.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 06/11/2020 08:08

Thanks @kirinm. He seems mild. I'm also symptomatic today so off for my own test.

MellowMelly · 06/11/2020 08:11

London- 2 days

roses2 · 06/11/2020 10:58

DS (age 7) got sent home from school as he had a coughing fit in class. Had a test 2.30pm Wednesday and still waiting for result in London. What is more annoying is that he hasn't coughed since he came home from school on Wednesday, no sign of a fever but they want a test before accepting him back :(

Same. DD was sent home from nursery on weds, we got a test at 6pm and haven't heard anything. We went to the Greenwich test site and because they had so many appointments free I assumed the results would be quick.

Waiting here in nw, ds tested (v Mild cough) 7pm last night.
As a family we have had 2 since the summer which took 22h and 28h.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/11/2020 14:22

Oh dear. Hope you're not feeling too bad.

No I feel ok. Washed out. What's frightening is actually how not ill I feel and how many thousands of people must be going around like this. I had no cough or temp, and only lost sense of smell for about 6 hours

roses2 · 06/11/2020 19:09

D'S finally got his negative result after 52 hours. I have two kids and really don't want to do this every other week until Spring Sad

kirinm · 06/11/2020 19:23

We have also finally got a negative. They seriously need to improve testing times.

Just got it back at 8pm after 25 hours (manchester)
ThisMustBeMyDream · 07/11/2020 12:22

Same kind of turn around time for my test the day after my partners positive one. Mine was negative. As were my children. We tested 12pm yesterday, all 3 results came back together at 9.05 this morning. So 21 hours.

TheTroutofNoCraic · 08/11/2020 12:42

Lancashire. Test at 1pm yesterday. Email with negative result at 4am this morning.
