Can my spiritual healer still come over?

Genuine question - can she? It is work for her and can’t be done remotely as requires touch.

No because it’s not essential work, which is the only kind that can continue if not at home. If it requires touch definitely no. All mobile hairdressers and beauticians that come into the home are banned too.

OpheliasCrayon · 05/11/2020 10:55

I have a feeling that this could go two ways.... Sensible answers (which to be honest are probably no she can't come over ) or.....it could swiftly go the way of mumsnet classics.

I await with interest.

IrkedEssex · 05/11/2020 10:55

Health care is allowed.

Holyrivolli · 05/11/2020 10:56

What is a spiritual healer and why do they touch you? Genuine question as I’ve never known anyone to use one.

JaJaDingDong · 05/11/2020 10:56

Health care is allowed

Spiritual healing is not healthcare.

ShowingOut · 05/11/2020 10:57

If it's spiritual, why does she need to touch you?

Mischance · 05/11/2020 10:59

She can do it from her home - just send the messages via the ether, but at a specified time - just so you can be sure you know it is happening.

willowywillow · 05/11/2020 11:00

Could she sent you something she had touched that you then can touch? Some old Christian traditions of this type of thing.

cologne4711 · 05/11/2020 11:05

I would have thought that it would be in the same category as "massage parlour" (which includes perfectly sensible things like sports massage Angry ) so not allowed.

BeeFarseer · 05/11/2020 11:06

No.

everythingthelighttouches · 05/11/2020 11:06

OpheliasCrayon

I had the same thought!

Place marking for potential mumsnet classics thread.

TheRealJeanLouise · 05/11/2020 11:08

Oooooooooo I’m following this all the way to Classics!! Grin

madcatladyforever · 05/11/2020 11:08

Yes of course and you can have a party with 50 people at your house too, fill your boots ff's.
As soon as lockdown starts we get these ridiculous questions.
I haven't met up with my spiritual group since February, we are all longing to see each other - it's not happening until next year so just live with it.

helloxhristmas · 05/11/2020 11:09

That's a no from me.

OpheliasCrayon · 05/11/2020 11:10

But NOT after 10pm for gods sakes
Calmandmeasured1 · 05/11/2020 11:31

Spiritual healing does not need to involve touch. It can be hands off, hands on (with your permission) or you could receive distance healing. I would say that as Spiritual churches are not holding spiritual healing sessions, that it is not allowed in your home.

You know those aren't the rules don't you? Nowhere does it say (and nor did it in March) that only essential work can be done:
  1. Going to work
To help contain the virus, everyone who can work effectively from home must do so. Where people cannot do so - including, but not limited to, people who work in critical national infrastructure, construction, or manufacturing - they should continue to travel to their workplace. This is essential to keeping the country operating and supporting sectors and employers.

Public sector employees working in essential services, including childcare or education, should continue to go into work.

Where it is necessary to work in other people’s homes - for example, for nannies, cleaners or tradespeople - you can do so.

Thanks all. My healer does reiki which is touch based. There’s no mention of this in the guidelines though so I guess it’s open to interpretation.

I note acupuncturists are working and that’s not dissimilar.

OP posts:
MrsBennetsnerves · 05/11/2020 13:25

There are 3 grades of Reiki and only the first is touch based. She's probably not very well trained (and that's before I get into the fact that you can set up as a Reiki practitioner after a weekend course or less.)

AcornAutumn · 05/11/2020 13:33

OP she will know the answer to this.

interesting that acupuncturists are working.

Torvean32 · 05/11/2020 13:34

There is evidence that accupuncture works some Gps will refer for it. Physios can sometimes do it.
It's 100% different than reiki.

ImperfectTents · 05/11/2020 13:39

Just burn a few tenners in the garden, it will have the same effect

yes, but then massage for physio, painful conditions needing treatment etc should also be allowed?
Ginnymweasley · 05/11/2020 14:06

I mean I doubt it. If hairdressers etc can't work I really don't see how a spiritual healer could be allowed.
