Can my spiritual healer still come over?

Genuine question - can she? It is work for her and can’t be done remotely as requires touch.

OP posts:

Do they have a cure for a certain virus by any chance? 🥺 bit of sage maybe.

Only joking OP but no I don't think it is allowed.

52andblue · 05/11/2020 14:12

'I have a feeling' this may end up in Classics too...

I had a session with a Shaman about 6 weeks ago. It was my first, and very interesting. I knew nothing about Shamanism / spiritual healing but the practitioner was very genuine.
She is offering a SD online space for the next 7 weeks which includes 30 mins of online small group meditation, for £7 per week.

NO

VanGoghsDog · 05/11/2020 14:14

@BuffaloCauliflower

No because it’s not essential work, which is the only kind that can continue if not at home. If it requires touch definitely no. All mobile hairdressers and beauticians that come into the home are banned too.
The rules don't say anything about "essential work".

Hairdressers have not closed because their work is not essential (though obviously it's not) they have closed because the govt has specifically said they must.

DimidDavilby · 05/11/2020 14:15

My physio/sports massage place is open so i don't see why reiki shouldn't be allowed. It's health care.

ivftake1 · 05/11/2020 14:20

If it was health care it'd be health care

CovidClara · 05/11/2020 14:23

Cant she send the wooo over zoom?

TheRealJeanLouise · 05/11/2020 15:03

Fuck off is it healthcare 😂

TheRealJeanLouise · 05/11/2020 15:05

Meditation is completely different @52andblue. That is actually scientifically proven to help people.

ChristmasReindeer · 05/11/2020 15:07

What does a spiritual healer actually do? What is the benefit of them? I'm not being sarky, I've never known anyone who goes to one so I genuinely want to know. I

Icanseewhyichangednyusername · 05/11/2020 15:28

Is it reiki/hands on healing? I’ve had a few “remote/distance healing” which if you believe energy can be travel through time and Space there’s no need to be physically in the same room

SinkGirl · 05/11/2020 15:42

@Mischance

She can do it from her home - just send the messages via the ether, but at a specified time - just so you can be sure you know it is happening.
I know you’re joking but when mum had terminal cancer, she spent a lot of money on distance healing from a guy in California - she got a phone call before and after it.

Right up until the day before she died. He also called the day she died, no doubt hoping to get another few hundred quid out of her. Obviously I told him to get to fuck.

Mischance · 05/11/2020 16:02

SinkGirl - there are some truly evil people about making money out of others' suffering. Sickening. Flowers

SinkGirl · 05/11/2020 16:05

It’s not even the half of it. She spent around £45,000 in her final 18 months on “alternative medicine” (even though alternative medicine that is proven to work is just called “medicine”). She was deep into it before the cancer diagnosis but then it obviously spiralled. It really is heartbreaking, the way vulnerable people are exploited.

Sorry, bit of a tangent!

JaJaDingDong · 05/11/2020 18:29

Would you want to take the risk OP, even if it was allowed?

Does the dubious benefit you get from the reiki really outweigh the risk of having to go on a ventilator, unconscious, with tubes down your throat, up your bum, and into your stomach to help you breathe, poop and "eat"?

sallyedmondson · 05/11/2020 18:33

Only if she does not breath whilst with you.

DrDetriment · 05/11/2020 18:46

Yes she can OP. The complimentary and natural health council, which includes reiki, today clarified that the government is allowing complimentary therapies to continue as they are under the banner of mental health. Check out the CNHC website to see if your practitioner is registered with them.

SlopesOff · 05/11/2020 19:17

I have had Reiki both by touch and by distance healing.
While it is preferable, touch is not the only way.

VioletCharlotte · 05/11/2020 21:21

@TwinkleInMyEye2020

Thanks all. My healer does reiki which is touch based. There’s no mention of this in the guidelines though so I guess it’s open to interpretation.

I note acupuncturists are working and that’s not dissimilar.

Ignore the nasty comments. So far as I know reiki healers can't work as it's considered a 'close contact' therapy. Although pp seems to think they can so this could have changed, your reiki practitioner should know.

The reiki healer I know are offering distance healing so maybe that could work for you?

MitziK · 05/11/2020 21:37

@IrkedEssex

Health care is allowed.
Which cuts out the feels nice but does nothing medical option.

It's more of a religious thing, and they're not allowed to meet up, especially not to touch one another. Perhaps she could use her spiritual powers instead of her hands?

callistography · 05/11/2020 21:49

Nope. It's not essential work.
It's not medical.
It's not necessary.

Surely she can send magical healing thoughts from home

DrDetriment · 05/11/2020 21:51

Is there a reason why everyone is ignoring my post where I say CNHC has confirmed with the government that alternative therapies including reiki can still practice?

Can you evidence this please as everything I've found online states that non-essential close contact services are not allowed at this time.

Spiritual healing is non-essential.
Recognised formal healing/life-saving such as doctors or hospitals is essential.

brupogqubp · 05/11/2020 22:09

Less essential that a haircut or a football game.

LastTrainEast · 05/11/2020 22:33

They can just send their astral form surely?

I knew someone who did reiki and he said he could do it via email. Grin
