Am considering going to town tomorrow and maybe having lunch out - can’t decide if it’s a good idea (since who knows when we’ll be able to again, realistically) or really stupid, considering the rising levels of infections. Fwiw I’m young(ish), no health conditions and live in an area that has been tier 1 up until now...

Because some of us care about supporting businesses and people's livelihoods. Covid is not the only thing that matters.

wizzbangfizz · 02/11/2020 15:37

Hair, waxing, possibly eyebrows and a trip to next to pick up a new coat and wellies for DD. Might suggest lunch with DP on weds but looking at my diary it will be impossible!

wizzbangfizz · 02/11/2020 15:37

Oh and gym tomorrow first thing!

NameChange84 · 02/11/2020 15:37

No, too many people out there having a “last hurrah”, it’s heaving, social distancing isn’t happening and things are just as dangerous as the last time we locked out. People will undoubtedly pick it up this week in restaurants, pubs, soft play etc before we lock down and as a direct result some people may be fine and others will pass it on to colleagues, teachers, care staff and there will be deaths as a result or long term health repercussions.
The virus isn’t giving us a few days reprieve so I’m staying in earlier just like I did back in March. I’m pretty much still shielding, only leave home for essential reasons.

I'm trying to shop in as many local independent "inessential" shops as possible, as I'd like them to still be there when everything re-opens. I'm trying to get a few Christmas presents while I'm there. Latest stats seem to show a very low number of infections resulting from shopping, and we have v. low rates in this area, so I strongly doubt that I'm going to be contributing to the second wave by doing so. Would strongly consider a meal out (for the same reason) but don't have anyone to go with at short notice.

pumpkinpie01 · 02/11/2020 15:37

Very few cases here , took fil for lunch yesterday we normally do something with him at the weekends since mil died. Going out for tea with friends tomorrow and will take ds7 and his friend to the cinema on Wednesday.

@1forAll74

No, as there is no difference from now until Thursday, the virus is spreading all over everywhere every day. So the more people who rush out for the last supper so to speak, are not doing anyone any favours.
There is no difference in the virus between now and past Thursday, when we were in tier one and no sign of increasing. A jump to full lockdown is OTT in my area. So yes I'm going out shopping and going out for dinner. If I had planned it last week nobody would have blinked so planning it now is no different.
Wherearefoxssocks · 02/11/2020 15:40

Yep table is booked for Weds lunchtime. I have a voucher that will expire in December so want to use it before lockdown

harridan50 · 02/11/2020 15:41

Yes went shopping today, gym tomorrow, hair colour and meal out Wednesday

This too. I've gone and bought christmas wrapping paper, cards etc from the local independent card shop. Otherwise I'll inevitably end up buying them from amazon or asda and I dont want to give them even more money

I’ve ensured I supported local non essential businesses by placing telephone and click and collect orders for the ones who don’t have an online presence before they have to close. I will continue to support the others online and through click and collect through this lockdown. Sent some money to my hairdresser and a tutor even though I’ve not seen them since before the last lockdown. Cant risk attending in person given my medical history though.

One last walk with 2 friends, dropping dh's camera off for repair before the camera shop shuts. Exciting, me.

gluteustothemaximus · 02/11/2020 15:48

No. Town is heaving. No one is distancing. There will be a good bit of spreading before lockdown. I work in a school and am exposed enough as it is. Don't want to spread it.

Calmandmeasured1 · 02/11/2020 15:53

Going to shop for birthday and Christmas cards for Nov, Dec, Jan plus make-up and usual food shop. No meal' out but I've just come back from a UK holiday so need to cut down on eating now.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/11/2020 15:54

@NameChange84 that's fair enough, it was more aimed at the people making the "irresponsible" comments.

GabsAlot · 02/11/2020 15:54

tier 2 so can only goout to eat with dh but hes working-if you can enjoy

Fruggalo · 02/11/2020 15:55

Shopped for Christmas stuff at a fair few independents today.

olderthanyouthink · 02/11/2020 15:55

I had already booked museum tickets so that's what we're are doing today.

DD needs a bigger coat so will try a squeeze that in today or do it tomorrow.

HitchikersGuide · 02/11/2020 15:57

Yes. Eating out and shopping + a face to face work meeting.

GinAtMerlottes · 02/11/2020 15:57

Had emergency drinks out last night and having a pedicure and lunch with my aunt on Tuesday. I am working until late on Wednesday so that’s it for me. Will be meeting friends for walks though.

Legoandloldolls · 02/11/2020 15:59

Yes. I am seeing my sister and finishing my Christmas shopping. Four kids so no way I can offord to do it all online. I went out today too. I found the last lockdown extremely hard so I want to preserve my sanity and be ready for staying home until spring. I dont believe the entire country will be unlocked in four weeks.

sunflowershine · 02/11/2020 16:01

I wanted to! We were booked for our favourite restaurant on Friday night and am gutted it cancelled (I know, first world problem). They can't get us in beforehand though so not going. Boooooo.

TheoriginalLEM · 02/11/2020 16:01

We had lunch out today in a place where we go for a treat. It wasnt intentional but my mum is having surgery today and i needed the distraction.

PuzzledObserver · 02/11/2020 16:05

Been shopping today - managed to get a couple of presents and the cards. Writing them will give us something to do over the next few weeks...

And bought a takeaway coffee from my favourite chain - they didn’t stay open for takeaway during the last lockdown and I missed them.

sociallydistained · 02/11/2020 16:06

I'm going for lunch tomorrow with the 2 year old and dinner out Wednesday night with my partner. Also got a final gym class booked for tomorrow night. Sucks
