I followed some info I had seen on here and checked my phone settings for my app exposure notifications, just out of curiosity. However my app apparently hasn't checked for exposures since 24th Sept?!?! How has that happened?

I deleted it. It's not fit for purpose.

myhobbyisouting
@Chairlove no, the app of a person that tested positive (and you've been near them) was updated on Tuesday with their positive result. That doesn't mean you were near them on Tuesday

So we are being asked to self isolate for 14 days less the number of days since the positive person updated their app. But that will be in turn be a number of days since contact.
I've read the same elsewhere myhobby it's just that we may be self isolating for longer than necessary ie over 14 days?

We seem to fumbling around in the dark here Hmm

Flaxmeadow · 02/11/2020 11:01

Its the positive case that causes the check

Not sure.

I've got quite a lot of these checks everyday, I suppose because I'm in a very high risk area? Higher risk area, more checks?

So far when I click on one of the times/notifications, in the info it always says

"Number of matches 0"

So I guess it's just the app working and that it isnt really important info in general, but If I was exposed it would tell me in the actual app anyway.

PotholePalace · 02/11/2020 11:03

163 checks in the past 14 days. I don't go out much at all: supermarket, work away from home 1 day a week, maybe 2 hours in a shopping centre. And I regularly turn Bluetooth off when I'm at home then forget to turn it back on.

Xenia · 02/11/2020 11:10

This thread is making me glad I do not have a phone that will take the app! My neighbour does not never had a computer or mobile,

Flaxmeadow · 02/11/2020 11:16

The amount of checks might simply be because someone lives in a high risk area, and so it checks all the time anyway, whether you go out or stay in all the time.

But then it also checks when you log in a place with the GR code (the sqaure thingy with black patterns). It does the random checks, but also when you check in somewhere. I say that because I snapped the GR code yesterday and noticed that one of the checks in my settings was at the exact same time I did it as I entered the building

Hope that makes sense Blush

Bufferingkisses · 02/11/2020 11:16

Mine has done 168 checks in the last 14 days... which seems a lot!

Flaxmeadow · 02/11/2020 11:24

...I've also noticed that, I suppose based on my postcode, as the infection numbers increased in my area I had more checks, but when the infection numbers decreased a little there were less checks for that day

storminabuttercup · 02/11/2020 11:35

I've had 4 matched key counts since 11.30 last night but no notification, I've not been within 2m of anyone bar DP and DS. The info on the website suggest it means I've been within 2m for more than 15 mins? Is that right? So confusing (I've had no notification)

Whirlwind14 · 02/11/2020 12:04

@storminabuttercup I think you get a match and then the check timings, distance, duration etc

I seem to get two data keys every 4 hours?? Doesn’t seem right. No matches though, thank god...

Ah that makes sense. First time I've noticed a 1 in that field that's all

Halloweiner · 02/11/2020 13:12

I'm in a high risk area but haven't had any checks, does that mean the app isn't working?

Eve · 02/11/2020 13:17

... this was slipped out in a blog post at the weekend.

JustFrustrated · 02/11/2020 13:39

I apparently matched with someone at 916 this morning.

As I'm currently isolating due to the fucking thing I find this quite concerning. Given I'm alone in the house apart from my husband - who doesn't have it. And my au pair - who doesn't have it.

Also, apparently at 2.13am the other day I matched again with someone, I was sleeping in bed.

So either my neighbor whom I've never spoken to has it or it doesn't work.
And if my neighbor has it, again, never spoken to the man, so why on earth am I isolating?

dementedpixie · 02/11/2020 13:42

Those times are when people update the app with a positive result. It will then check if you were a contact and how long you were close to each other

Bells3032 · 02/11/2020 13:45

Mine says hasn't checked since 26th September despite us having checked in several places since then (inlcuding a weekend break away) and I only updated it again yesterday. How do i get it to scan?

dementedpixie · 02/11/2020 13:49

Go into your list of apps as I found mine had auto disabled through not using it @Bells3032

Cookerhood · 02/11/2020 13:50

It may have been one of the "ghost" notifications. I can't find any checks anywhere on my phone!

Bells3032 · 02/11/2020 13:51

@dementedpixie I used it yesterday at two locations. Has all the correct permisions and notifications permissions etc

dementedpixie · 02/11/2020 13:53

My android phone had auto disabled mine for some reason but didn't see that until I went to my list of apps in the phone settings and clicked on it

Lumene · 02/11/2020 15:46

@dementedpixie thanks sorry just saw your reply. Yes in phone settings then clicked on where the app is listed there. Really odd, not sure if it’s working.

AlexandraEiffel · 02/11/2020 17:11

I've realised that I use my phone on low power mode most of the time and I wonder if this is stopping it doing the checking. Do others who have nothing in their log use low power mode a lot? (iPhone)

TableDesk · 02/11/2020 17:21

Can anyone interpret this from an Android phone? Am I meant to be isolating because of the 'matches'?

Thanks

Just check my app exposure notifications
dementedpixie · 02/11/2020 17:27

No. You isolate if it tells you to. You were maybe not in close enough proximity for long enough to need to isolate

TableDesk · 02/11/2020 17:32

So the matches mean nothing really?
