I know they will be open, but I am curious to see if parents will feel they will be safer at home.

My 3 year old will continue to go to nursery as I'll be working at home, it's better for her own mental health for her to go in my opinion xx

DominaShantotto · 31/10/2020 21:15

Yes. The way the last lockdown fucked with my youngest child's mental health and language was fucking appalling. I am NEVER putting either of them in that situation again - to the point I'll be the first out to protest if they closed the schools.

Blue565 · 31/10/2020 21:17

Yes

RaggieDolls · 31/10/2020 21:17

Yes. It wouldn't occur to me not go send them but in any case I have to work so even if I didn't want to I would have to.

user675761 · 31/10/2020 21:20

Yes low risk for children. If vulnerable people don’t need to shield this time then healthy children can surely go to school

m0therofdragons · 31/10/2020 21:21

Yes. Primary dc I have no concerns but secondary I’m less happy about with 200 in her bubble. I’m not so much worried about her but being a carrier and giving it to dh or me. We won’t be seeing my parents for that very reason.

sydenhamhiller · 31/10/2020 21:21

My 3 DC will be going to school as I will be going to school after 4 weeks off: 2 weeks because I had covid 19, and then 4 days because I have long COVID-19, with breathlessness so bad I had to monitor my oxygen SATs.

I walk to primary school, stay there for 10 hours, then walk home to my family. Rinse and repeat. I don’t socialise at school, I eat my lunch in my classroom. Both an adult and a child were tested and diagnosed with C19 before me, I have no doubt that I caught it from them - at school.

So it’s hard. My 3 children suffered being at home. Esp my youngest, still at primary. But I have suffered being back in. So, I’m back in on Monday, hoping my breathlessness and chest pain let me get through a whole week, but also pleased both my biological children and my ‘class’ children, are having as normal an experience of life as they can o this abnormal time.

I don’t want schools to be closed. I don’t want to be back at school. I will be.

DrDreReturns · 31/10/2020 21:22

Yes. Apart from anything else you get fined if you don't Hmm

Char2015 · 31/10/2020 21:22

Parents may end up with no choice .. I suspect there are going to have quite high numbers of teachers going off sick this week with stress/anxiety. I really don't blame any teacher going off sick at this time. And with other staff having to isolate... there may not be enough staff which may mean some schools will end up closing anyways for short periods.

mynamesnotsam · 31/10/2020 21:22

Yes. They are loving being back at school and are actually getting an education.

NataliaOsipova · 31/10/2020 21:23

Yes. And the greatest risk to them will be travelling in the car to get there.

clopper · 31/10/2020 21:23

Yes and I will be in school teaching myself.

whattodo2019 · 31/10/2020 21:24

yes 100%
I have a DD at boarding school and a DS at day school.
I also work at a school.
All school are following excellent protocol

Ouchy · 31/10/2020 21:26

Yes mine will be at school as they should be

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 31/10/2020 21:26

You bet, until they lock the gates. She needs to be in and has been a different child since she went back in September.

Feellikefrighteningyeah · 31/10/2020 21:26

Yes

Glittertwins · 31/10/2020 21:28

They'll be going in until they are told by the school they can't!

Frequentflier · 31/10/2020 21:28

I am sending my son in sixth form, but worried. Not so much for him, but that he will bring it back to us. In a small flat and can't socially distance as much as we would like. I wish older kids were allowed to wear masks in class. He also takes the Tube.

thisismylife12 · 31/10/2020 21:29

My husband is vulnerable. And can work from home. There has been a number of cases in my two children’s schools. Why would I want to take the risk if he is being told to work from home and lock down and still send my kids into school where the school is not following proper provisions put in place and loose my partner. I’m waiting to see what he says about fines ect... it wasn’t ok in March for our children to be in school it was too risky the cases are even higher now never mind the deaths but it’s ok. No Thankyou!

lyralalala · 31/10/2020 21:30

I'm not sure. School have offered remote learning (they have an excellent set up for the children who haven't returned for reasons of vulnerabilities) for them both because of how vulnerable my youngest is (she's not at school yet).

It's a really fine balance between keeping them there and mixing with other kids as long as possible for the sake of both their education and MH, but also protecting my youngest.

Attictroll · 31/10/2020 21:31

Yes - I think under lockdown it will be better as kids will not be mixing with others as much beyond school.

pointythings · 31/10/2020 21:31

Yes. DD2 is in Yr13 and I'm not risking her education.

Lauradoralaura · 31/10/2020 21:31

Yes of course.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 31/10/2020 21:31

We’ll only have years 7 and 8 in so ds2 will definitely be going 👍🏻

Crunchymum · 31/10/2020 21:31
