If it's OK for teachers to have to carry on working, why isn't it OK for MPs to go back to Parliament and work no PPE and no social distancing? These MPs know how dangerous it is out there and there's no way they'll put themselves in danger, but they're quite happy to throw teachers under the bus. And by the way, I'm not a teacher, I'm an appalled parent.

Transmission does appear unclear, I know many examples where husband + but wife not, same for siblings - this was during lockdown and so had the same contacts.

Indoor, crowded spaces without social distancing or masks are where superspreader events occur.

This is now a known fact.

Of course not every contact of a positive case catches it - that's not how it works, for ANY disease. Some may be asymptomatic, some just won't catch it. But indoor, crowded environments without social distancing or masks are where sars-cov-2 thrives. Fact.

There was an epidemiological study of a bus in China early on where some of the people (masked I think) didn't catch it when sitting quite close to a case, then (unmasked) people got on after case got off and THEY caught it (the masks were key IIRC).

I actually have worked in Imm/ID in the past so do have a fair idea of transmission...
What we do know is you can have 2 people with the same contact in the same environment and both people won’t become positive.
So it is fair to say as the op did that there are a lot of unknowns.

But I do think teachers should have ppe/protective measures and schools should have extra funding for cleaning/resources.

Sounds like the study that got retracted very quickly.

I'm pretty sure it's 'not advised' for teachers to wear masks, which is not the same as 'prohibited'. Some staff in my school are wearing masks.
