Does anyone know whether these will still be allowed to continue? Am thinking of sports my DC which are outdoor and steps have been taken to make more "Covid secure" since the summer. Am suspecting it's a no. Just trying to gauge as may be a while before hearing from their clubs.

I would like to know as well. I'm fucking fuming.

Nomaj · 31/10/2020 20:08

I suspect they will stop.

Aside from anything else it will encourage travel which they want to discourage.

whattheheckactually · 31/10/2020 20:08

Guidance I just read on sky news website said professional sports can continue but amateur ones cannot.

CharBart · 31/10/2020 20:08

Really hoping they allow children’s outdoor sports to continue....

Aurorie11 · 31/10/2020 20:09

According to Sky elite sports continue but not amateur. Don’t know if they will draw a difference between adult and children sports

OhDear2200 · 31/10/2020 20:09

This is the one area I’m fuming about. It’s not fair!

frozendaisy · 31/10/2020 20:09

I am presuming all extra curricular activities to stop.

PM said all "leisure" ...........which I presume means sport/dance/clubs

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 31/10/2020 20:09

The to organisation im part of is awaiting more info from the National Youth Agency. But general feel is is we will close again. Debating whether Tuesday session will go ahead right now.

Dollybagwash · 31/10/2020 20:17

Dance teacher here Sad it's a no! All studios in England need to shut Thursday.

BunsyGirl · 31/10/2020 20:20

What happens about sport in schools? My DCs have tennis, gymnastics etc at school. Can this continue?

tealcheese · 31/10/2020 20:22

Anyone have any idea about baby/toddler classes?

ihearttc · 31/10/2020 20:24

My friend just posted this, says decision not been made yet.

I really hope my two little boys football will continue. They both love it so much

cologne4711 · 31/10/2020 20:27

I was also wondering this. My running club chairman has already posted on FB that organised sessions must stop, but I've not seen anything official, only in relation to hospitality. I've not even seen anything saying gyms and swimming pools must close.

cologne4711 · 31/10/2020 20:27

Sky news seem to have a bit more detail than the BBC or the Times, but not sure where they are getting it from: news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-england-to-enter-month-long-lockdown-from-thursday-pm-announces-12120114

Ouchy · 31/10/2020 20:35

Outdoor organised sports for children should absolutely continue. What about long term objectives for NHS around health/fitness, and obesity avoidance - which, additionally, helps reduce risk of severe covid (i.e. prevention agenda)?!? If they stop this that would be ridiculously short sighted

sirfredfredgeorge · 31/10/2020 20:43

Yes Ouchy, but sadly none of the policies are remotely costed in those terms, it's all short termism, longer term impacts are just things. Obesity is just another thing to blame on "people being bad", the same as lockdown is "people not following the rules", rather than political decisions which encourage or facilitate fitness.

mamaduckbone · 31/10/2020 20:49

We've just had a message from dc's rugby club to say tomorrow will be last session until December. Rubbish but understandable as they come from about 4 different schools.Sad

BlackPetunia · 31/10/2020 20:51

if they are shutting shops and people are furloughed then kids sports are not important either!

ihearttc · 01/11/2020 17:42

Don’t suppose anyone has any updated news on this?

DS played his last game today and it was so sad, like March all over again.

Rabbitholebonkers · 01/11/2020 18:07

@ihearttc

Mine too. We made the most of it. Sad

Purpler5 · 01/11/2020 18:48

Nothing formal here but the assumption is they’ll stop I think. Gutted. And I fear it will be for more than 4 weeks. Sad

ihearttc · 01/11/2020 19:18

I thought as much but just wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed anything.
