Where the hell is Boris?

London has been in tier 2 for two weeks today, rumors of move to tier 3.

Numerous other areas moving into tier 2 or 3.

Furlough ending tomorrow.

Surely there should have been some kind of update or announcement from this sorry excuse for a government?

I’ve said this many times, Boris though being PM would be waving flags, banging out brexit slogans & if we were lucky we’d have got pictures of him on a zip wire in Union Jack pants, ‘getting Brexit done’
What he didn’t expect was hard work & decision making. From all I’ve read & heard Boris doesn’t like hard work.
He has proven woefully inadequate from day 1.

You do realise they are trying to prepare for/negotiate a BREXIT as well....

Lol. Running down the clock to secure a no deal Brexir for his chums more like.
Lazy feckless shit. Wonder who what he's doing just now because it's certainly not running a country through its worst crises for decades.

@MarshaBradyo

‘Save Christmas’ is such a load of bollocks

People don’t feel the same as March, most of lockdown is by consent ie not mixing at home.

Agreed. There is no way people are going to take any notice of him now.

Speculation rather than fact looking at the headlines this morning, but it seems we could be in full lockdown by Wednesday with only essential shops remaining open until 1st December.

Possible Boris announcement on Monday.

Off to get ready for work while I still have a job because I think another month being shut will finish us.

Fucking useless wankers.

@nancy75

Saving Christmas is the carrot at the end of the stick. They know full well that a huge number of people will visit family at xmas, no matter what the rules are. They will allow us out for Christmas Day because it looks better than saying we can’t go & half the country just ignoring them.

This is what I think. They'll feel they have to do something to try and allow Christmas to be celebrated, because the alternative is millions of people ignoring them and them being made to look impotent.
Report
Catmads · 31/10/2020 08:48

Hundreds, thousands, possibly millions of people have been ignoring them for months now anyway with no repercussions.

All the people not wearing face coverings in enclosed spaces.

All the people who will not give you a little bit of space, never mind 1 or 2 meters.

All the people continuing to ignore local restrictions.

All the people who didn't bother to self isolate when coming back from their holidays...

There was one chance at getting the public onboard with compliance in the hopes of it making a difference back in March.

Like everything else, with their stupid schemes and gimmicks they blew it.

I am just glad he is not on TV. I find myself mentally shaving his head and replacing his clothes every time I see him. For someone who earns so much, you think he could afford a decent suit.

That's very true, but Christmas is sort of more concentrated iyswim. People are inevitably paying attention and it's going to be much more politicised than eg the number of people who weren't socially distancing in public areas indoors in September. So that's what I think the motivation is going to be.

If Johnson comes out with save bloody Christmas line it’s ridiculous

One thing for crap media to spin it but I don’t want to hear it from anyone who is meant to be making decisions

Just looking at London stats London.gov some graphs show stark difference to March.

Yes it is. Saving Christmas is the sort of thing that happens in films and is typical of plans-on-the-back-of-a-fag-packet style of this government who still haven't worked out not to promise what you can't deliver and this is unprecedented times when you can't predicted the future.

"Saving Christmas" give me a break this isnt a low budget hallmark film. Christmas doesn't need to be saved but he does need to do his fucking job and run the country. He is such a waste of space.

Schools staying open will make people NOT comply with any of this.
That's how I see it. It is grim.

Report
Brazillio · 31/10/2020 09:25

I agree @the80sweregreat.

Teens especially are mixing outside of school because they can't see any difference to sitting next to their friends all day in the classroom. Unless schools are closed, this will continue and people will continue to feel like everything is normal and fine.

You know he’s going to go with saving Christmas, he’s got nothing apart from slogans. We’ll go from ‘hands face space’ to ‘get Christmas done’ or some such other bollocks that they come up with.

I e got a 15 years old & that is exactly how they see it - she’s in a small room with 30 other kids for hours, no masks, no distancing - what difference does it make if she sees the same kid she’s been sitting next to all week for a couple of hours on the weekend?

Nobody will fall for this will they?

Catmads · 31/10/2020 09:37

@Brazillio Exactly. You can't put teens in bubbles of 300 or whatever, have them sitting in non socially distanced classrooms without face coverings and then expect them not to mix outside of school.

They're not stupid or selfish, the decision was made for them, putting them (and teachers) at risk by this feckless government.

Stay at home order is the headline on bbc news. Maybe we will find out on Monday.
( unless it's work you can't do from home or go to school / college / Uni )
Which is a lot of people not staying at home.

All the time schools and colleges remain open lockdown won’t work. There is no social distancing at school and therefore understandable why people continue to meet up outside and go down the route of what’s the point. Personally I see the need not to allow my dcs to meet up outside of school as their exposure is high and other meet ups increase this. Understand though why people don’t though

Oh, I don't want to make excuses for him! There's no excuse whatsoever in trying to cling onto power when he's not up to the job, whether ill, drunk or incompetent - all of which I can believe!

I do think he has long Covid, though, and they want him in place until Brexit is finished so they can use him as a scapegoat.

I like what Larry the Cat has just tweeted:

The government have given themselves four hours to decide what to call a lockdown so that they can claim that what they're doing isn't a lockdown - because they've told people people calling for a lockdown that they're wrong. Should be worth watching
