Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

@BillyDaveysDaughter God that's so shit. How scary for you. Not eating won't hurt for a few days. Could dh be getting scared? I think someone needs to have a look at you.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 18/11/2020 12:10

Thanks both, yes I have noticed that the "you need to eat" mantra and withdrawal of support comes pretty much when I feel and look my worst, so as much as he makes me cry, I'm willing to accept that it's because he's frightened.

I'd be happy to have another assessment but it's so difficult getting one. Anyway my breathing is OK at the moment.

PrivateD00r · 18/11/2020 12:25

I expect he is just frustrated because he can see how weak you are and can't understand why you don't eat. I don't think it is easy to understand if you aren't in that situation. TBH he doesn't sound like a bad egg, he called you an ambulance! And has been trying to access other help. Sounds like he is trying.

I couldn't eat either due to horrible nausea which later turned to vomitting. Like you, by BMI is over 30 so I knew it wouldn't matter. I did get horribly dehydrated though which is a much bigger problem, so I would urge you to try your best to keep drinking. I think I am only starting to get hydrated properly again now (day 20). I gained 4 lbs in a few days which was clearly from fluids so was strangely reassuring!

Do you have a pulse oximeter to monitor your sats? I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with mine as sometimes it reassured me but sometimes it caused me stress when my sats were low. However at least it meant I wasn't having to call anyone out.

Covidwoes · 18/11/2020 13:13

I got a positive result on Sunday. I had a temp and body aches to begin with. Temp is now fine, body aches gone, but my whole body feels like it weighs a ton. Going up the stairs is such an effort. Not got much energy at all. Taste and smell have completely disappeared. I'm also 32 weeks pregnant and have a 2 year old. She's now got a temp so we have ordered a home test for her. Not being able to taste anything is really frustrating, and I'm struggling to eat because of it!

Covidwoes · 18/11/2020 13:15

Oh and I've also had a dodgy tummy, but I'm not sure if that's just caused by Covid, or by the pregnancy as well.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 18/11/2020 14:49

I've had rotten nausea on and off, and was anxious about that turning to vomiting as I'm severely emetophobic. I nearly got myself a bowl the other night but as sick as I've felt, it's never actually made me feel like vomit was coming. I'm hope to god that stage is over, but it's not helping me want to eat. I feel safer being empty.

It's not been too bad a day, temp has stayed down, cough and breathing are manageable, nausea minimal, only one episode of diarrhoea, and I've been awake apart from a short nap after a bath.

Please, please let this be a turning point...

justleavemebe · 18/11/2020 14:57

Joining please, symptoms started Sunday. Nausea, headache aches pains and sore throat. Have ordered a home kit today for me and my 6yo who's had a temp for a couple of days.

KriKay · 18/11/2020 15:04

Hope we all feel much better soon!

Day 5 for me, temp and headache gone, cough getting annoying, still a bit achy and like @Covidwoes strangely my body feels like it weighs a ton too, and the same thing going up and down stairs. It’s weird! I also had a dodgy stomach on days 2/3 but that’s better now.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 18/11/2020 15:18

I admit to being seethingly envious of those who made a reasonably quick recovery and are up and about. I've been in bed, just about able to go to the bathroom, for SIX DAYS. 6 days I tell you! And I'd felt a bit unwell for 5 days prior.

Now if I stand for longer than 20 seconds I feel all my blood rush to my feet. I'm not happy and I'm going to make a complaint.

KriKay · 18/11/2020 16:05

Aww hope you feel much better really quickly @BillyDaveysDaughter. This is such a strange virus

I really feel for you. Did you have your 32 week appointment ok? Please take serious care of yourself, you need to be resting. Lots of fluids and I would advise regular paracetamol to try and prevent any temp spikes. Have a low threshold for seeking help if you become unwell Flowers

I don't know whether to admit this...... I was in bed for over 2 weeks Sad It sucks, I agree its so unfair! I don't understand why there is such variation, though I don't wish being really unwell on anyone of course! I think it was the cough that made me vomit, when the pneumonia kicked in, I would cough and cough until I threw up. I have never heard a cough like it! Hopefully you will skip that bit Flowers

Oh I genuinely thought I was getting pressure sores at one stage, I was in a lot of pain from being in bed. It definitely wasn't a choice!

BillyDaveysDaughter · 18/11/2020 16:47

Ohhhh I see @PrivateD00r - not random vomiting from being nauseous, but from that plus the deep cough. Thanks, actually that's reassured me - my cough is deceptive, it has made me a bit "gaggy" I suppose but I think I've been lucky with mine. I have no health conditions other than being a bit fat, and my lung irritation has settled at the very back of my throat - so I've got a stupid little "cough cough, cough cough" on virtually every out breath, but it isn't a relieving cough, it's just dry and painless and does nothing to take away the tickle. Maybe the bigger cough is to come!

Oh Christ, two weeks. Dear Lord I hope not. DH is already fed up and making snarky remarks about festering in my sweatbox. If had the option of getting up and carrying on as normal I would be, trust me! This is no fun for anyone.

I must say I am feeling significantly better this evening. I had my one relapse - dying on day 8, loads better on day 9, relapse on day 10 dying again, better on day 11.

DH would like me to join him downstairs catching up on episodes of the stuff we watch, but I'm not ready to be that far from the bathroom yet - besides, you can go from fine to terrible in minutes. I'm feeling OK laying here dicking around on my phone, I'll just enjoy feeling OK for now.

Covidwoes · 18/11/2020 18:15

Thank you @PrivateD00r. As this is my second baby, I don't have an appointment til 34 weeks. I have been invited to a 'Covid hub' to get checked because I'm pregnant, but I haven't got the energy to get there, and my stomach is dodgy so it worries me going there! I'm hoping to get there before the end of the week. Luckily my temp appears to have settled back to normal now.

LavenderBee · 18/11/2020 18:40

@BillyDaveysDaughter I second your complaint. It’s just not cricket!😂

Ah your schedule of appointments must be different to ours (I am not in England), ours is now 28, 32, 36, 38, 40. I am glad you won't miss an appointment. Make sure your midwife is aware though as you should be referred for a growth scan for 2 weeks after you are better (again maybe this will vary though if you are in England) Flowers
BillyDaveysDaughter · 18/11/2020 19:13

Check out my arm. These patches are burning hot, and they crop up mostly on my arms but pretty much anywhere on my body. The paramedic commented on them the other night, but then they were all over my upper body whereas the bottom half was purple and mottled.

Weird huh? I'm still feeling OK.

ValleysGirl72 · 18/11/2020 20:03

Can I join please? I've tested positive!

My boss sent me home on Monday, took a test yesterday and had my results this morning.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 18/11/2020 20:08

Hey @ValleysGirl72, welcome to the 2nd-rate SARS Virtual Infirmary. How are you feeling?

ValleysGirl72 · 18/11/2020 21:00

@BillyDaveysDaughter, I'm not feeling too bad at the moment. I think Monday was my worst day cos even my boss said that I looked like shit - his words not mine!

My chest/ribs are aching because of all the coughing. Fed up of the phelgm in the back of my throat - sorry too much info!! Very little sense of taste or smell. Body aches are easing and I'm sleeping better.

DH is feeling very sorry for himself - typical bloody man!!

BillyDaveysDaughter · 18/11/2020 22:06

Haha! When I had paramedics here the other night they asked my DH if he had any symptoms, and he said only a mild cold - they said well into bed with you at once, this could be serious!

It was very amusing but I wasn't laughing much at that precise moment, I thought it was curtains for me.

I've felt pretty good all day - have to keep the paracetamol going, and stay laying down, I have jelly legs and get extremely dizzy standing, but that's OK I'll take that over the previous abject misery. Much of the crippling, electric shock head pains and drilling into the spine, hip and knee joint pains have eased.

The cough is becoming a bit more bothersome, it's very persistent, tickles constantly and I can't take a deep breath in. I've noticed laying on my side with my head tilted forward and down aggravates it less. I've got some Benylin but it doesn't do much and besides, as it goes down I can feel it turning me Covid bowels to water 💩💩

I really hope this is me on the turn though. A friend said his 30 year old neighbours were taken to hospital today - and my boss says he's got a mate whose been in hospital for 2 weeks already. I casually googled the Covid cough to see if there are breathing methods to feel more comfortable, and chanced across a very matter of fact clinical and practical study of a 38 year fit healthy man who died with fully congested lungs on day 8.

Yeah I should've stopped that one really, especially as I watched it when I was feeling pretty ill...

IHeartKingThistle · 18/11/2020 23:44

Urgh, was hoping I'd escaped the nausea. Nope...

Poppins17 · 19/11/2020 07:28

Morning all,

Can I join in please... I started to feel unwell Monday, got tested Tuesday 11am, had positive result yesterday 9am...

I haven’t got a cough, but my body aches all over. My skin hurts and is painful to touch... I have a terrible headache, thick head like it’s full of cold, runny nose.

My husband had a test yesterday so we are anticipating the results around lunch time today.

Sending best wishes to you all xx

MrsWarleggan · 19/11/2020 07:39

I tested positive Wednesday 😔 my symptoms started a week ago. Had been celebrating my DH getting a new job, so woke up on Saturday thinking I had a hangover. No temperature. No cough. No loss smell/taste.

Bonkerz · 19/11/2020 08:39

I'm on day 8 of positive test. Don't know when symptoms started as an on new medication that can cause all the things I feel too!

Currently I feel weak and dizzy. Been staying downstairs and scared I will end up trapped upstairs.
Taking codeine every 4 hours and have pain behind eyes and a headache too. Diarrhoea is horrid and sickness and temp hit last night about 5 and then literally passed out till 3am.

Have had a sinus steam this morning to see if that helps with the dizziness.

What doesn't help is I'm isolating with my autistic and adhd children age 20/14 so am worried about their mental health both are also positive but thankfully not poorly and my 9 year old who needs support with online schooling so rest isn't really possible because I'm a single mum.
