I just tested positive this morning after having a swab done yesterday, I am on day 2 of symptoms and feel like rubbish already. Will track and trace be in touch with me?

Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Can I ask, do you know where you caught it?
Did you have contact with a positive case?

I’m only asking as my mother in law tested positive this morning. We had close contact with two days before she developed symptoms.

We are isolating but wondering when most people start to show symptoms after contact with a positive case.

ContemplatingLife435 · 27/10/2020 10:33

I had contact with a positive case and im assuming this is where I caught it from

How long after having the contact did you test positive? We’re only on day 4 after the contact.

Really hope your feel better soon. Flowers

ContemplatingLife435 · 27/10/2020 10:39

It was 5 days after contact

Thanks so much.

Hope the other person is okay too.

Sorry I can’t help with your track and trace question.

ContemplatingLife435 · 27/10/2020 10:43

It can take up to 14 days to have symptoms though remember

Sorry to hear that OP. Hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself and make sure you get lots of rest.

You might not get it, or may stay symptom free anyway. Dh had close and prolonged contact with me both before and after testing positive. At no point has he displayed any symptoms. 18y dd came home just before and stayed for the SI afterwards - again she had no symptoms during that time either.

eatingsugar · 27/10/2020 10:44

Yes we will be isolating for the full 14 days.
Just curious how long other people have gone before developing symptoms.

My DH did have a bad head yesterday but we don’t want to test unless we have one of the 3 main symptoms.

SpookyNoise · 27/10/2020 10:47

Ds tested positive last week. I’ve had six phone calls from track and trace so far.

Mammaaof · 27/10/2020 10:48

Can I ask what your symptoms are? I'm awaiting a test result x

ContemplatingLife435 · 27/10/2020 10:49

@Mammaaof I have a weird cough that sounds really barky that I can feel rattle in the middle of my chest, lower back pain and back rib pain when breathing

They should be. But if you know who you have had contact with then I’d tell them now because track and trace seems to be incredibly slow. My DD had close contact with a positive case on Thursday of the week before last and then another different contact on Monday of last week and there was no contact from T&T (via school) until Thursday just gone. So she’d been at school potentially spreading it on Friday, Monday and Tuesday (she was off on Wednesday anyway) before any contact was made. No wonder it’s spreading so quickly through secondary schools. So if you can contact people you know you came into close contact with it will be quicker than waiting for T&T. Best wishes hope you recover quickly.

Apandemicyousay · 27/10/2020 10:54

@eatingsugar track and trace will contact those contacts declared by the positive case, who were also in contact either 24 hrs before symptoms began or 24 hrs before positive case (if asymptomatic testing). They are also interested in what the positive case was doing in 8 days prior to symptoms to determine where sources might have been. If determined as a contact, it could be up to 14 days before symptoms, but majority present by day 8 ish

Mammaaof · 27/10/2020 10:54

@ContemplatingLife435 thank you! I was just feeling really strange on sat can't explain it, then Sunday had a sore throat and headache and temp, same yesterday but last night had sharp pain in my ribs. Hopefully I get my results soon. Hope your feeling better soon x

ContemplatingLife435 · 27/10/2020 10:59

@Mammaaof the sharp pain in ribs was actually what made me test as I normally have a cough anyway due to Post nasal drip

Trust me, don't worry about hearing from track and trace. They will be in contact many, many times. We had a positive case in our household, the positive case listed the rest of us as contacts and we now receive multiple phone calls a day (1 for each person). When I woke from a nap once (2yo up l night) there were 9 missed calls on my phone. We've told them we are fine and don't need calling but they still do and this is day 9 of 14 days isolation. Really sick of them and tempted to stop answering calls. As if it isn't bad enough isolating without many phone calls a day to 'check you are ok'?!?!?! I'm fine, leave me alone!!!!

AllForYOuu · 27/10/2020 11:19

I tested positive 6 days ago. Track and trace sent me a message asking a few questions and that was it no contact from them. They have called DH a couple of times a day he is trying to WFH as has no symptoms and is getting very irritated with their 3 calls a day checking up!

Mindymomo · 27/10/2020 11:29

4 people at my sons work tested positive last week, none of them have been contacted by track and trace and consequently my son hasn’t been notified as to how many days he needs to isolate. He’s doing the full 14 days since last contact, much to his employer’s annoyance as they think he can return as he has had a negative private test that they paid for.

Aragog · 27/10/2020 11:47

Track and Trace contacted me a day or two after my positive test. I got the email the day after my result and completed it with all details. They then texted close contacts almost immediately. They called them a day or two after that.

I told my contacts immediately so they could go home from work straight away. I didn't have the big 3 symptoms so Dh wasn't isolating already. I was tested as routine for a hospital admissions due to other symptoms.

@Aragog

What symptoms did you have?

Aragog · 27/10/2020 12:07

I was taken into hospital with dangerously high blood pressure, fast heart rate, tight chest and breathlessness. I was being investigated for blood clots on my lungs, or possibly pneumonia. I'd also had some sharp pains in my leg.

I didn't get a cough until a few hours after I'd had a positive result. I had a vaguely high temperature for about an hour, again after the positive test.

Oh no, doesn’t sound good!

Hope you’re recovering well.

ContemplatingLife435 · 27/10/2020 14:26

@Aragog did you find your back and ribs to be really painful?

OP posts:
Aragog · 27/10/2020 14:36

My ribs have been very sore since diagnosis. Not sure if it is linked to the prolonged coughing or from prolonged breathing issues perhaps. The ribs ween't sore early on.
