I just tested positive this morning after having a swab done yesterday, I am on day 2 of symptoms and feel like rubbish already. Will track and trace be in touch with me?

I’m the same, I tested positive (test yesterday - results today) and track and trace contacted me today for all details. I hadn’t been in contact with a positive case that I know of. Started with cold symptoms Saturday and thought it was just a cold Monday woke with no smell or taste and symptoms are getting gradually worse. Hope your feeling better soon x

@Aragog

My ribs have been very sore since diagnosis. Not sure if it is linked to the prolonged coughing or from prolonged breathing issues perhaps. The ribs ween't sore early on.
Really common to get sore ribs after a bad cough. If you still have it holding a pillow round your chest when you cough, it can help.
Aragog · 28/10/2020 18:11

Thanks. Cough now pretty much subsided. Ribs are still sore, though this not being helped as I have to wear a heart monitor for 72 hours at the moment too, so have sticky tabs, wires and connectors attached to the skin above my ribs too right now!

@ContemplatingLife435

Can I ask how close your contact was to the positive person ? Did you think you were social distancing ?

ShowOfHands · 28/10/2020 19:35

We are 20 days into 28 days of isolation. Track and trace phone us 4 times a day every day.

In terms of how long to show symptoms, DD did 14 days of isolation and we were all fine. Thought we'd been lucky until DS became symptomatic 36hrs after his sister's isolation ended.

ContemplatingLife435 · 28/10/2020 19:57

@Unsure33 I live in the same house as the positive contact

Track and trace seems really hit and miss. I started with cold symptoms on Saturday and developed a bit of a cough sunday. Tested sunday evening and results back on Monday night.

I got a text with a link to the track and trace form. Filled that in and haven't heard anything since, they have emailed my husband though.

Main issue for me is that the nhs track and trace app has me isolating for a day longer than the self isolation note generated by the website 🙄

Unsure33 · 28/10/2020 23:30

@ContemplatingLife435

So probably very difficult to avoid then .

Just reading another thread where two people working back to. Back and sharing tools at work . We are not even allowed to share pens or staplers .

We all got given different dates from different sources!

T&T on the phone told DD she had to isolate til 31st October which would have been 18 days from my positive test was taken, 23 days from when my symptoms started and 21 days from her first contact with me.

DH was given a different date again.

The hospital told me 10 days from when they gave me my result, a different doctor said 10 days from when my test was done, T&T email said 10 days from when my symptoms (none big 3 ones) started, which was 5 days before the test was done, T&T women on phone gave another date between them!!

GranolaHolmes · 29/10/2020 12:17

Tested this morning and waiting for results.

Can anyone tell me if I am positive how far back test and trace want to know contacts and what constitutes a contact?

One week/two?

AllBellyandBoobs · 29/10/2020 12:29

@ShowOfHands I am not sure your isolation advice is correct. Public Health England website says the following 'Stay at home for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day the first person in your house developedsymptomsor, if they do not have symptoms, from the day their test was taken'. Not sure you all do it to do another bout of 14 days (though it does seem logical)

GranolaHolmes · 29/10/2020 12:38

NHS website is suggesting recent contacts means in the 48 hours before my symptoms develop. Is this right?

ShowOfHands · 29/10/2020 13:42

@AllBellyandBoobs it makes no difference if you've done 14 days for one family member. If another member of the household gets a positive test subsequently, you do the whole 14 days again (except the person who tests positive who does 10 days).

So DD tested positive and she did 10 days while DH, DS and I did 14 days. We emerged from isolation and then DS developed symptoms so we started isolation again. Us for 14 days and DS for 10 days.

ShowOfHands · 29/10/2020 13:48

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/what-to-do-if-you-get-symptoms-again/

You must self-isolate again even if you've had a positive test result for coronavirus before. You probably have some immunity to coronavirus but it's not clear how long it lasts

The official guidance and the multiple calls from and messages from T&T are clear.

Aragog · 29/10/2020 13:51

GranolaHolmes - yes, whilst you've got/had symptoms plus 48 hours before. That was what T&T told me, and PHE told my headteacher.

GranolaHolmes · 29/10/2020 14:43

Thanks. That makes it very simple for me.
Other than own household I only saw one person and that was outdoors. Have warned her in advance just in case.

AllBellyandBoobs · 29/10/2020 15:05

@ShowOfHands sorry, I didn't realise you had already finished one set of 14 days when your DS got symptoms. That is really unfortunate timing for you!

StatisticalSense · 29/10/2020 15:57

@ContemplatingLife435
If you live in the same house as someone who had symptoms for 5 days before you developed any you shouldn't have been in contact with anyone in the 48 hours before developing symptoms. NHS Test and Trace will be in contact at some point but I'd imagine you'd be a very low priority on the basis that anything other than 'nothing to report' would mean you had broken the law.

PositivelyConfused23 · 29/10/2020 16:03

I was self isolating anyway just didn't know if it was me that had to get in touch with them, they got jn touch with me like 3 hours after my positive result though

PositivelyConfused23 · 29/10/2020 16:05

Whoops Cross thread, OP test and trace should get in touch even if you live with a positive case

ContemplatingLife435 · 29/10/2020 16:07

@positivelyconfused23 they got in touch after a couple of hours
@StatisticalSense I had been self isolating for a week prior due to dd needing to self isolate due to positive case in nursery anyway

OP posts:
ContemplatingLife435 · 29/10/2020 16:11

Well being the one staying at home with dd for 2 days before the persons positive test then fully isolating the other 5
