You’ve kept schools open for a term, by and large. You’ve dealt with thousands of children coming back from a massive disruption. You’ve supported parents and families who feel vulnerable. You’ve rewritten the curriculum to account for the lost time - as far as you can. You’ve dealt with longer days; shorter breaks; so much extra cleaning. Some of you have had PPE that makes teaching hard. Some of you have had no PPE, which makes teaching riskier. You’ve had double the workload, providing online resources as well as in school teaching.

Schools have been open and that’s down to you.

What a lovely thread and hopefully the mealy mouthed miserable twats will give this a swerve

Larsingsong · 23/10/2020 19:37

Yes absolutely! The teachers at my children's secondary have been amazing , keeping spirits up and disruption to a minimum.

The teachers are also donating 1% of their November pay to provide Christmas food and treats for children whose families are struggling financially

Well done teachers 👏👏👏.

BelleSausage · 23/10/2020 19:38

Thank you! It’s been so difficult.

Extra well done to all those NQTs who are starting off on such a difficult time. You big stars! 🌟

I hope so. Or perhaps they’ll join in the appreciation for the frankly amazing thing school staff have pulled off this term!

Yes. My children aren't at school but I'm grateful for the support they've received. Thank you.

UncomfortableSilence · 23/10/2020 19:42

I wish I could tell my DD’s teacher how much I appreciate what she has done. But she would think I was an OTT weirdo and probably start avoiding me

Please do it, I had a parent email me today, I'm not a teacher I do the school finance, and it made my day at the end of the hardest term where I just want to crawl under my duvet for the next week it cheered me up so much.

Teachers and all school staff have worked so bloody hard I can see how drained everyone is but we got through the term with 'only' 2 cases and I'm so happy the kids are back, I worked right through lockdown with only a handful of people in the huge school, it felt so cold and empty and it's so lovely to hear the constant noise and the kids laughing, I'm so happy we managed a full term and pray it continues for them.

Namechangeme87 · 23/10/2020 19:44

I’m an NQT. Thanks so much. Honestly I’m so tired, as are all my experienced colleagues. It’s nice to be appreciated, honestly it means the world. This term has been so hard.

I want to thank all the really experienced teachers who have supported me. And the lovely pupils who have brightened every day.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 23/10/2020 19:46

I completely agree and I have sent an email to my children's school to tell them so.

PeaceAndHarmoneeee · 23/10/2020 19:49

Well done to all the teachers and school staff 🙌🏻 you have all done an amazing job supporting kids back to school in v difficult circumstances.

I sent DS's teacher some gin and a card today, she probably thinks I'm completely weird but I am so grateful to her because he has been so happy at school this term.

Thank you.

Yes! I am in awe of the amazing hard work and positivity in the face of adversity of all the staff at dcs schools. My dc have all found it especially hard returning after a long break and the teaching and other staff have all been just fantastic. ❤️❤️❤️

SmileEachDay · 23/10/2020 20:34

I’m glad to see how much parents appreciate school staff!!

You're doing an amazing job! Well done keep at it! I can barely remember doing my PGCE it was so long ago but I remember very long sleepless nights doing work! :) You'll get there! Make sure you get some rest this half term and don't do work solidly. It's tempting but give yourself some down time too! You deserve it!
munchbunch12 · 23/10/2020 20:39

Yes, a big thank you to all school staff, including those who run breakfast and after school clubs Wine Brew Cake Flowers Gin

Flatwhite32 · 23/10/2020 20:39

Thank you SO much! I'm 28 weeks pregnant and exhausted, and this thread has made me feel really good about my job. Thank you! X

Sending my thanks too Wine

Abelard40 · 23/10/2020 21:22

Thank you! Never been so proud to be a teacher. Just before lockdown I was offered a place on the Ed Psych doctorate that I’ve fought hard for for 4 years.. tough decision but I don’t regret staying in the classroom and seeing this through for another year..

pooiepooie25 · 23/10/2020 21:26
