Positive test and only symptom is tiredness. Did anyone start off ok and get worse?

I’ve just had a positive test result but feel fine apart from feeling really tired. I’ve had none of the symptoms the NHS list.

Did anyone start off ok but then deteriorate? I’m feeling a bit anxious about it.

I had all the symptoms @Auntpetunia2015 mentioned there but it was ages ago in feb/early March so I had limited awareness of wtf and didn't get tested. When I finally looked at the NHS criteria I only had 1 of their things as I'd forgotten a brief fever, only had chills. and from what I can remember it did start with fatigue I'm afraid and got worse. It was like flu. Manageable with half a day in bed and sneaking off to sleep whenever I could. Loads of medication etc. Not a high risk group. try not to worry OP now theres more awareness you can be aware of what to do when.

I went to bed with slight sore throat. Woke up next morning feeling like a cold was coming on but nothing more.went to the allotment to do some work and started feeling off. No cough or temp. By the end of the following day I was delirious with a high fever. Next day joint and chest pain which was very bad but both pain and fever came down with painkillers. Unable to move a lot for a week. Kept to my room and DS cooked and cleaned. Not bad going for a 12yr old! It is a month since i first got symptoms. Last week I felt good and worked two days. Bad idea as it knocked me back for days. I have to pace myself and
am snacking to keep energy up but I have experienced this in the past with Dengue fever so I am trying not to worry about money and concentrate on getting well again

Is it bad that I read that as a positive pregnancy test and I was wondering why everyone was banging on about covid, then the penny dropped 😂

@Aragog hope you don't mind me asking, how did you know your blood pressure got very high? I'm pregnant and getting worried about how I will know if anything is wrong!

I had a two day headache (which is incredibly unusual for me) and then three days of really bad fatigue, walking through treacle type stuff. Then I was fine. This was in the days when it 'wasn't in the country' so I didn't/couldn't test - but it's clear looking back that DH caught it abroad and brought it back with him. His symptoms were textbook, I breezed through and DS15 said 'god I need an early night' twice Smile

Of course I don't want to take away the seriousness of it (and I have lost someone from Covid) but don't overthink it, you'll probably be totally fine.

That’s exactly the kind of thing I would do. My brain just adds words to sentences 😁

I’ve just been for a test.
Horrendous headache and nausea yesterday afternoon so just went to bed early.
Headache still really bad all day and some nausea on and off for a large part of the day so didn’t eat lunch. DH cooked dinner and I tried to force some in, despite having no appetite. The dish is pretty spicy and usually burns my tongue & makes my eyes water a touch. Today I couldn’t even taste it!

Your symptoms do sound very much like mine. It must be frustrating not being able to find out if it was definitely covid

@Missandra it really is! We've toyed with getting an antibody test but they seem so unreliable...

DC2's only symptom was extreme fatigue. DC1 only had the fatigue plus a temperature for 48 hours.

DS and I had every symptom going!

I think symptoms vary hugely between people.

The worst thing for me was headaches every day for about a month, and also I went through a phase of having to sleep slightly propped up. I am a side sleeper but couldn't do that as I didn't feel I could breathe properly. But I only had the cough for a short while - other symptoms for longer. I could function throughout and worked from home throughout. Luckily I didn't have any days where I was completely bed bound with it.

Most people have a really mild illness with vague symptoms. I work in nhs and caught it in March. Achy and tired for a couple of days. A week later lost smell and became a bit short of breath. Was fine. Am a bit fat and nearly 50. Tested pos for blood antibodies months later.

My DS15 came home from school in sept with cold symptoms so bit of a cough was the only COVID symptom and not continuous just the usual cough that comes with a cold. He had 2 days over the weekend mostly in bed and day and night nurse ... Monday he was fine and went back to school.
Two days later I started with same symptoms, I have had far worse cold symptoms ...again had day and night nurse.... but that was the end of sept and I had about two days feeling a bit grotty And mostly cleared up except I keep having days still where I feel exhausted and feel like I’m fighting an infection so the same drained feeling as when tonsillitis starts, also I keep having to clear my throat due to phlegm and like it feels like it’s running down the back of my neck.
I have it my partner and son who don’t live with me.... partners son had more of a cough they got tested a few weeks ago and tests came back negative.... so I presume I didn’t have it.... but it’s odd I’ve had this lingering exhaustion and ongoing symptoms.... any thoughts??

No, I just felt lethargic for a few weeks after testing positive, as in needed a lie down in the afternoon even if I hadn't been doing much! I also seem to get headaches now, might be coincidence but I've never really had them before, and since I seem to get a few a week. If I hadn't had been tested when going into hospital I would have had zero idea, I had no symptoms at all when I went in, the tiredness came after. Like any illness it will affect people differently, just try and look after yourself and rest if you can.

I forgot to say... my partner knows at least four people who just have classic cold symptoms and have tested positive so none of the 4 classic Covid symptoms 🤷‍♀️

Report
Sandybdnas · 24/10/2020 08:18

@Nononoandno there are the usual viruses flying around still, every year they make people poorly and some extremely so, so it could be a faulty test result, but could feasibly be something else.

The other concern I had was that they did their own test.... so the testing center handed the packs through the car window, they Parked up and swabbed their own nose and throat... he told me they were laughing as gagging 😂.....it does make me wonder if they swabbed properly??? On tv I’ve seen the swabs go really far up noses I can’t imagine they did that to themselves 🤷‍♀️
