Positive test and only symptom is tiredness. Did anyone start off ok and get worse?

I’ve just had a positive test result but feel fine apart from feeling really tired. I’ve had none of the symptoms the NHS list.

Did anyone start off ok but then deteriorate? I’m feeling a bit anxious about it.

@DonLewis apologies if my post came across smug. That was not my intention.

I just see it a lot where people are blaming the posters for getting a test rather than targeting their anger at the government who really should have a better testing in place.
I'm currently waiting on a test result and it is SO frustrating. Ordered them Tuesday so although not posted off till weds, it does feel a long wait.

RedMarauder · 23/10/2020 16:07

OP it's no-ones business why you got tested.

My entire household got tested more than once earlier in the year because I signed up for a research project, which is now being used for Covid.

Anyway just take it easy.

MrsWooster · 23/10/2020 16:07

I had the exhaustion thing at Easter-put me in bed for two weeks. I ‘got better’ but have had a post-viral-fatigue thing ever since not saying long Covid, as I had no test and cba debating doubters so take tons of mega vitamins and treat yourself with kid gloves for a bit.

DonLewis · 23/10/2020 16:10

@Hugosmugo

I snapped, so I'm sorry. Hope your results are back soon

That does sound really frustrating. It shouldn’t be so hard should it. Work are using a private company to test staff and I had the test in the afternoon and got the results back in less than 24 hours.

@Missandra yes definitely sleep as much as you can! Difficult when you have a 1 year old but even on the good day, don't do too much as you'll be exhausted the next day!

MollysMummy2010 · 23/10/2020 16:14

My husband has a positive test - no symptoms at all. I am tired and have an upset stomach but no other symptoms. Not going to get a test as have to isolate anyway.

I will try and take it easy. I’ve been trying to just get on with things but have now just come and got in bed because I just need to lie down.

This is interesting. I've also felt absolutely exhausted for about a week and had a headache, slightly on/off sore throat, a bit achey but nothing specific enough to stay off work and not carry on as normal.

satnighttakeaway · 23/10/2020 16:16

Out of the millions of people who've had it so far there will have been pretty much every possible combination of symptoms, every order in which they appeared, every order in which they disappeared and every degree of severity of each individual one plus the asymptomatic cases.

Surely by now everyone must know that they is no such thing as a typical case and no point in assuming you will feel the same as anyone else.

The answer to any question is yes it's possible.

That’s what worries me a bit is the idea of this dragging on for weeks.

People are allowed to be curious & they're allowed to ask, people can always say they don't want to say if they find such a basic question too intrusive! The OP was happy to answer so I've got no idea why you've got your knickers in a knot about it.

My question, if it's ok with you Red, is what people mean by tired/exhausted? It's hard to define, but maybe an indication of what they can't do that they'd normally do or whatever.

I am permanently bloody tired:exhausted (pre Covid) going back to a virus I had that attacked my liver many years ago. (Long story & not the point). I guess I'm curious as to whether if how I feel most of the time is how people are feeling with Covid or if it's worse/different.

I had my flu jab last weekend and I'm even more wiped out that usual

Missandra · 23/10/2020 16:21

My employer has ha huge list of symptoms to look out for and it includes all the symptoms posters have listed.

The government really need to expand their list of symptoms. If people are walking around as normal it’s no wonder it’s spreading so rapidly.

Yes. Had a headache the day of and day before my swab, swab was positive. But I felt fine was genuinely shocked. Headaches became quite severe but I am quite used to headaches like that.
Lost my taste around day 3/5 after the swab.
Started getting breathless about day 7 after swab. Its been 8 days since my swab, and about 9 days since my headaches first started, the head has finally eased except for in the mornings and evenings, I'm exhausted but not in bed, breathless and heavy chest but my sats are good. Fwiw I'm 28 and otherwise fit and healthy.
It affects people differently, and you might not get all of the symptoms others have had

Keep hydrated, eat well, rest well. Remember you're not alone Flowers

Missandra · 23/10/2020 16:24

@MJMG2015 I always tend to be tired a lot. This is a different type of tired then I usually have. My whole body feels tired and weak I also feel very spaced out.

Tiredeyesneedsleep · 23/10/2020 16:25

Loads of people get tested for loads of reasons. Loads test positive with no symptoms at all (seven in guernsey this week is a good example)

If everyone on Mumsnet was tested today there would be loads of positive tests from people who didn’t have any symptoms at all.

MJMG2015 · 23/10/2020 16:25

@Missandra

Did the company do the swab test or the spit test?

Our school has engaged the services of a company doing the spit test in order to get fast results & avoid so many isolations.

I'm assuming they'll have to have a swab test if the spit one is positive. Not entirely sure...need to find out really

Take care of yourself🌷 Let's hope this is the worst if it for you 🤞🏼

Thank you. It sounds like you’ve had a rough time. The idea of it affecting my breathing is what’s scaring me. I haven’t felt scared of getting it but now I have it I’m feeling anxious.

Eg . I had a test prior to a hospital admission. Felt fine, tested positive. Isolated for two weeks (and missed my slot at the hospital) and never felt even remotely unwell. Rest of household were tested, one other positive two negative. No symptoms at all.

They did a swab test. That sounds like your school are doing a really good job. Luckily it’s half term here so dd won’t miss too much school.

That’s really Interesting that not everyone in your household caught it. Did you isolate yourself away from them?

I tested postive after losing my sense of taste and smell. My main symptoms have been..

Headaches. Awful and constant.
Sinus pain. Again constant.
Tight chest/ breathlessness.
I have asthma and my chest has been really bad.
A chesty cough ( not constant and no worse than I'd get with a chest infection)
The exhaustion. Nothing explains it. Crushing tiredness after doing the smallest taste. I can't sleep at night for some maddening reason.
No sense of smell or taste. This finally came back after 10 days..
Best wishes to all who have been ill.

GwenCooper81 · 23/10/2020 16:31

Adding that my symptoms came on gradually over 2/3 days.
I shared a bed with DH throughout. I also have 2 teenager children. No symptoms 14 days later ( thank God)

Tiredeyesneedsleep · 23/10/2020 16:32

Nope. I was already positive so we had all just been living normally.

People assume it’s sup contagious and everyone will get it. It’s not, they won’t.

Or my partner and son had already had it and not noticed either, and we got it from them?

Either way it was in the house and none of us even sneezed

Tiredeyesneedsleep · 23/10/2020 16:34

Also, we had all been going to school, work etc. Not a single friend or family member became ill. If I hadn’t been due in hospital we wouldn’t even know we had it
