So I'm not well. Feel sick, diarrhea, headache, soooooo tired. Also a bit of a cold. No temp, cough or loss of smell. I work with vulnerable kids so I won't be in tomorrow anyway but a colleague suggested a test even though no top 3 symptoms? I'm thinking no need. Waiting on my manager to respond. Advice?

My partner had general cold symptoms and tested positive. Didn't lose taste or smell until she'd been unwell for about 5 days.

annlee3817 · 13/10/2020 13:36

Diarrhoea is listed as one of the symptoms, I'd personally get tested, particularly as you have a bit of a cold.

nofashionsense · 13/10/2020 13:37

Yes get tested, my friend had just mild cold symptoms and was positive

Piixxiiee · 13/10/2020 14:01

Ok thanks

If you download the Zoe app and log those symptoms they’ll likely send you for a test.

Piixxiiee · 13/10/2020 14:10

Ok thanks. So headteacher just got back to me to say don't test and to come back in on Thursday..... mixed messages!

My dh just tested positive and only had a sore head

SparklingLime · 13/10/2020 14:17

Zoe are using the info in their research, and so often ask you to test even if you don’t have the government key three symptoms. So that could make the decision easier for you.

I think you should test, especially as you work with vulnerable children.

QueenBlueberries · 13/10/2020 14:33

I know it doesn't count for much but other countries such as Canada have Diarrhoea is considered one of the main symptoms.

ItsBeyondMe · 13/10/2020 14:35

How could you go back Thursday anyway? Shouldn’t you be 48hrs clear of diarrhoea first?

Northernsoullover · 13/10/2020 15:23

You need a test. I'm disgusted with your headteacher.

Piixxiiee · 13/10/2020 15:25

Yes I'm arguing the 48 hour point now anyway. They're very short staffed but that shouldn't matter. I think I will get tested. I have young children. But the children I work with are so vulnerable I'd be scared to pass anything on never mind coronavirus!

Fatigue is actually a common symptom. Headache also a symptom.

I'm glad you're getting tested. Good luck.
Ormally · 13/10/2020 21:41

I'd recommend testing. I had headache first and long lasting sickness but from something that felt a lot more like heartburn or indigestion. Taste loss came about a week later. Normally very rarely sick, and certainly never had heartburn.

Following to see what your test results are OP as I have all the same symptoms as you

Lemons1571 · 14/10/2020 19:00

Following too - my head is killing me today and I’ve definitely got something

hamstersarse · 14/10/2020 19:05

Strange that none of the people who claim 'DEADLY VIRUS' don't come on these threads.

A deadly virus that you don't know you have without having a test. That is actually like a cold ?

Strange world we live in.

Useruseruserusee · 14/10/2020 19:16

The Zoe app invited me for a test for research purposes with the following symptoms - headache, fatigue, sore throat, runny nose. However it advised to follow the government guidelines for only isolating if you have one of the three main symptoms. I’m awaiting my result.

I’m a teacher and I’ve still been going to work. If I developed any of the main symptoms I would absolutely isolate. But the staffing pressure we are under is immense at the moment. I could develop a cough in a few weeks and need to isolate then. The guidelines are there to be followed.

Streamingbannersofdawn · 14/10/2020 19:22

I thought you could only get a test if you have a high temperature, continuous cough or loss of taste or smell? If you don't have those no test needed.

I work with children if we asked for a test for all the possible symptoms we might as well all go home now.

frasersmummy · 14/10/2020 21:36

My ds was complaining of headaches sore throat tired.. A little warm but no fever..
Got tested when it didnt clear up in a few days.. Positive!!

Total nightmare as he's been in school because I didn't suspect it on these symptoms

Rowgtfc72 · 14/10/2020 22:53

Dd tested positive tues. Headache, a little warm, absolutely tired.
When we booked the test I had to tick yes she has a main symptom when she didnt. Still tested positive. Today shes lost her sense of taste and smell.

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 14/10/2020 22:57

Diarrhoea, headaches, sore throat and off to bed midday were my initial symptoms too. Plus chills.

Really you do need a test.

Further symptoms may follow.
