Can’t see any map on Gov.uk
BBC postcode search does not include tier update.
Can anyone help me find the map?

@AudTheDeepMinded they said on bbc news that university towns might get special treatment as the numbers being tested there are disproportionately high so skewing the figures for the wider population.
Might apply to Exeter.

Tangledyarn · 12/10/2020 17:56

Sheffield also in tier 2 (high)

feelingverylazytoday · 12/10/2020 17:59

I found out through reading the Sun website.
Re university towns getting special treatment, it should really depend on how proactive the uni is. If they're testing and quarantining where necessary I don't see where the problem is.

ImSleepingBeauty · 12/10/2020 17:59

@everythingthelighttouches

if you're not in either of these, you're Medium

So no change then

The change is if you are medium you can no longer meet with another household indoors. With the raining pissing down it’s likely this will impact many people who previously could meet their parents inside and still remain within the rule of 6.

LemonTT · 12/10/2020 18:00

@ChaChaCha2012

Apart from Liverpool, It hasn't been decided yet what tier places will be in.

Nottinghamshire plus all the areas currently with restrictions (except Liverpool) are in tier 2.

Lola, if you want to say where you (and your parents) are we might know the answer?

Yes I’m sure that was said.

Anywhere with local measures in T2 except Liverpool which is T3. All the rest of us in T1.

Thresholds will be important. Because most of us sure as hell don’t want to be in T3.

middleager · 12/10/2020 18:01

It's not as simple as areas with restrictions are tier 2 and areas not wirh restrictions are medium.

My local town is now in tier 2. No restrictions before but cases were 128 per 100k.

Mayor of West Midlands not happy most of the region is tier 2.

Lovemusic33 · 12/10/2020 18:04

Local news? My local news just said the whole of the SW will remain on the lower tier at the moment, so Exeter and Bristol safe for now despite the numbers in both Uni’s.

ivftake1 · 12/10/2020 18:05

@Rafflesway

Totally unacceptable!

This information should have gone "Live" within minutes of the PM's announcement. 😡

Oh calm down. Life doesn't work like that
CaptainMyCaptain · 12/10/2020 18:06

I would have thought it would go by the risk shown on the app. My area is Medium so I'm assuming we are on Tier 1.

unmarkedbythat · 12/10/2020 18:07

visual.parliament.uk/research/visualisations/coronavirus-restrictions-map/

Although it says last updated 10/10

Ginfordinner · 12/10/2020 18:08

@Tangledyarn

Sheffield also in tier 2 (high)
All of South Yorkshire is. Dan Jarvis posted on Facebook a 3 hours ago.

@ChristmasCantComeSoonEnough

I think Cheshire is going into Tier 2 as it is so close to Merseyside and Gtr Manchester. I read something which said they want to prevent people crossing the border from those restricted areas to socialise in Cheshire. I too don’t understand why Cheshire going straight to Tier 2.

I have a friend passing through the region next week and we are hoping to meet for a meal, guess it might have to be outdoors now!

However, we are on Cheshire/Staffs border and can easily eat out in Staffs if we want. Given that we are only asked for a phone number when we check in, no one asks where you live.

My DD works in Staffs so will be there most days for work anyway.

IcyApril · 12/10/2020 18:10

This is on Sky News - a list of tiers and towns.

That is for high risk areas.
Medium areas nothing changes.

IwishIwasyoda · 12/10/2020 18:13

I don't care. No doubt it will change in 2 days or something like that.
Blimmin ridiculous that people can't meet limited family contacts yet still go to work .... suspect compliance will be low

Thisisnotnormal69 · 12/10/2020 18:14

Here is the list the government have confirmed twitter.com/benkentish/status/1315689679329648641?s=21

Dartsplayer · 12/10/2020 18:14

They've said Liverpool - very high, all towns currently under restricted measures - high and everywhere else medium if that helps

Flaxmeadow · 12/10/2020 18:16

It doesn't matter what local authorities and local media are saying. Apart from Liverpool in tier 3, nothing else has been decided yet for the other areas. It will be decided on or just before Wednesday

This is why the national news are not saying anything about which area is in which tier

ChaChaCha2012 · 12/10/2020 18:17

@CaptainMyCaptain That would be logical but not the case. Medium on app here but tier 2.

melodypondisasuperhero · 12/10/2020 18:18

Just looked at the map @unmarkedbythat posted, what's with the "illegal raves" bit???

WHERE can I find out what tier my town is in?
Chaotic45 · 12/10/2020 18:20

We haven't had 'the announcement' - that is later today.

The earlier broadcast was from parliament and related to giving MPs the heads up, and the chance to ask questions.

The government have made so many gaffs- but if they make announcements with no notice people complain, if they give notice people complain. They can't win.

They are setting out the tiers. Then they will complete any analysis and negotiation and let us know which areas are in which tier.

It's a chicken and egg situation!

CaptainMyCaptain · 12/10/2020 18:21
@CaptainMyCaptain That would be logical but not the case. Medium on app here but tier 2.
OK. Silly me expecting this government to be logical. We are in a Sheffield postcode but some distance from Sheffield and haven't been expecting to be in Tier 2 but who knows.

Sophiesdog2020 · 12/10/2020 18:22

@Flaxmeadow

My friend in a currently unrestrained part of the North East has sent me a post from her MP stating they will now be Tier 2. So obviously something has been decided!
