One of my DS had a test on Friday at a testing centre. The results still haven’t come through. Does the weekend count for the 48hr window? How long have you been waiting?

We have been waiting since Friday too husband has a cough but we don't
We have been home since Friday

CKBJ · 12/10/2020 07:50

Just in limbo obviously can’t go to work and eldest can’t go to school. Also if my DS is a positive there are so many contacts out there that should be isolating!

There is a number to ring if the test hasn't been done in 48 hours
There are 3 types of result you can get: negative positive unclear, void, borderline or inconclusive If you do not get your result, call the coronavirus testing contact centre on 119 (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or 0300 303 2713 (Scotland). The contact centre is open from 7am to 11pm.

penpotted · 12/10/2020 08:18

A lot of people were finding the contact centre was too busy and the line cut out. I waited 60 hours last week. Weekends do count though, hopefully you'll have results soon

CKBJ · 12/10/2020 08:22

Thank you. Just called them. Due to high demand test results are taking slightly longer than 48hrs! So so many questions to get to that answer! I appreciate there are lots of tests being processed but if we stand any chance of getting a grip on this pandemic we need to be processing tests a lot quicker and isolating contacts. If this can’t be done air on side of caution all contacts within 2m for 15mins without mitigation’s isolate and are “released” if the test returns negative.

We’re still waiting for results from Thursday morning. I’m starting to think they’ve lost it.

Buttybach · 12/10/2020 08:34

@CKBJ the level of answers we needed to give was absolutely ridiculous! I'm surprised they didn't want my husbands inside leg measurements!!
It seems like an exercise in data gathering!
The line could be so much more useful and effective if it didn't take 8 minutes

Buttybach · 12/10/2020 08:35

I work in a school with SEN children so by the time this result comes back if it is positive then lots of people should have been shielding also

CKBJ · 12/10/2020 14:08

And the wait goes on!

OP posts:
Wellsbells · 12/10/2020 14:12

I have been waiting for 96 hours

Bickles · 12/10/2020 14:13

Waiting for results from a test on Saturday tea time.
Should I give up on work and school tomorrow then? DS has a cough but is very bright and bouncy. I know we need results before he can return, was hoping to get them today.

CKBJ · 12/10/2020 14:23

My DS is still coughing but would be ok for school and I could go back to work if only the results would come through. If it turns out to be positive many contacts possibly spreading it further. No wonder rates are rapidly increasing! I thought our system was “world beating”!!

Dd tested on Thursday evening and she got the results about 2 hours ago

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 12/10/2020 14:25

Oops sorry

Meant to say that the three other members of our ‘family‘ got tested and had results in just under 24 hours

Bloody typical that she would be the one who waits

Bickles · 12/10/2020 14:29

Would it help to say where we are? I’m in Yorkshire.

Passthebubbly · 12/10/2020 14:31

Myself and my husband had tests at a drive through yesterday at 11am both had our results by 9am this morning. Track and trace also already been done already as my husband was positive

Passthebubbly · 12/10/2020 14:32

I am in Scotland

user1488979639 · 12/10/2020 14:39

We are waiting for results from testing Friday evening in Morden, London. Any one else who is waiting from SW London?

CKBJ · 12/10/2020 15:59

We’re in Hampshire not sure where test would be processed. And we’re still waiting.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 12/10/2020 16:02

I'm central London. Went to a walk-in test centre on Thursday 1st October. Still haven't received my result. I just isolated until 10 days after my symptoms started and carried on as normal. Shambles!

CKBJ · 12/10/2020 16:03

Doesn’t give me much faith in the system.

My son came home with high temperature Friday, test Saturday morning and waiting for results. It is frustrating as it means two schools are without a teacher and all three ds are missing school. Fingers crossed the results come soon.....

bigbeuato · 12/10/2020 16:23

My DD was tested last Sunday (also Hampshire) results came through via email on 11pm on the Monday evening. Although the text didn't come through to the following morning.

BackforGood · 12/10/2020 16:43

How long are people finding it takes to hear from a postal test ?

As others have said, it seems to be quite an issue from both a spreading pov - family of the contacted person are allowed to go about their business until it is confirmed the contacted person is positive - but also from the pov of the economy and also trying to staff crucial services like health care, education, emergency services, etc etc

Bickles · 12/10/2020 17:08

If they don’t let us know soon then the economy is missing a University teacher tomorrow and a dentist on Thursday. It’s fully booked- as if dental appointments weren’t rationed enough at the moment!
