I'm isolating, keep me company

Today I heard that a 'close contact' (work) has tested positive and I need to isolate for 2 weeks.

So I've separated myself from the family and am hiding out while I wait and hope not to develop symptoms.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Hello! I am doing ok, I actually have a tooth infection of all things which I think is what is making me feel rundown! Just a nightmare as I obviously can’t go to the dentist.

My flatmate is unfortunately not very well at all which is sad, quite eye-opening and makes me mad at people not taking this seriously.

How are you? How long do yo have to go?

MiraWard77 · 14/10/2020 11:20

Glad you're doing ok, but a tooth infection sounds pretty unpleasant.

Sorry to hear about your flat mate. My CV+ colleague isn't doing too well either, from what I've heard. It's really worrying.

The slight sore throat is still there. Can't decide if it's a real thing or me overthinking.

It's not yet any of the official symptoms that would lock down the rest of the family.

I thought you had to self isolate if a family member has symptoms or test positive?

EdmundElephantIsACleverClogs · 14/10/2020 14:37

Just checking in to see how you are Mira. Sore throat isn't good but hopefully it's just a sore throat & nothing more. Glad you don't have any symptoms. Dd stops isolation on Friday and still has no symptoms so very thankful she seems to not have caught anything. Hopefully that's a bit of a positive thought for you Smile

MiraWard77 · 14/10/2020 15:54

Hi @EdmundElephantIsACleverClogs, that's great news about your DD.

I'm 90% sure my sore throat is psychosomatic. I went out in the garden earlier and felt totally fine. It's the kind I wouldn't have normally even noticed if I was busy getting on with life.

@Riv12345, that's right unless you've also been identified as a contact of someone COVID+ and have to isolate. Which is why I'm here.

It's a massive relief, we've been so worried. It has made me extremely anxious about sending her back to nursery though.

Glad you managed to get in to the garden for a while, the fresh air will be good for you too. Fingers crossed you don't develop any symptoms, how many days has that been now?

MiraWard77 · 14/10/2020 20:17

Today is the 7th day since exposure (my 4th whole day in isolation).

The novelty's worn off a bit now! But still very glad to be symptom free.

Work have upped their COVID-security game though. Which is a good thing.

Hello! I'm isolating after testing positive on Monday! Haven't been able to taste for a week and that's the worst part for me!Cake

MiraWard77 · 14/10/2020 21:09

Oh no. How far through your isolation are you?

OP posts:
Piixxiiee · 14/10/2020 21:19

OP sorry to hear you're isolating and fingers crossed sore throat is a phantom thing. Can I ask a how you are isolating? Are you in bedroom alone, sleep alone, go to kitchen alone and contact with kids/Dh? Just thinking ahead for our family and how it would logistically work....

MiraWard77 · 15/10/2020 07:12

Hi @Piixxiiee, I am staying in the bedroom (with en suite) and avoiding contact with DH (sleeping downstairs) and DCs.

DH WFH so is able to take up the slack in terms of school runs, childcare and domestic duties. He's been brilliant.

I come out of my room when they're out, wearing a mask & well washed, and do a bit of tidying to try and be helpful, go out in the garden etc.

We're in a small 3-bed house. It's not ideal but it's doable. And I'd far rather a bit of inconvenience to avoid sharing anything with them.

Today, all being well, I'm halfway through.

Hi folks, can I join?

Got a message on the app yesterday (stop Covid NI) that I have been in contact with a positive case and have to self isolate for 14 days. DH got a similar message so we are in it together (oh lordy!)

No children, and I have a laptop to enable me to WFH. I have a jigsaw puzzle, intend to do some daily Joe Wicks, and re-read Hitchhikers Guide, and catch up on The Crown. I have a garden I can get some fresh air in. But the 2 dogs wont be happy!

Sainsburys grocery order slot on Monday, will have to raid the freezer and larder till then.

Badabingbadabum · 15/10/2020 07:24

Yep, same here. Dh, dds and I have been here since Tuesday and are waiting for dh's results. Three people he was in close contact at work with have tested positive so seems likely he will. I started feeling ill on tuesday too. It's a small house and dds are only 3 and 5 sowe can't really keep away from each other. So bored!

MiraWard77 · 19/10/2020 07:54

How is everyone?

Tomorrow is supposed to be my last day of isolation. But I've woken up feeling ropey. I did a kettlebell workout yesterday and straight after felt a bit wonky. It got better in the afternoon. I spent a lot of last night awake, and now I don't feel right.

I don't want to worry my family. They're expecting me to be able to come out and hug them tomorrow. I'm going to be so disappointed if I can't and have to spend another week isolates. Sad

I'm struggling, to be honest, and it's only day 6! I have online pilates class alter to look forward to.

Even though I havent left the house since Wednesday, I got ANOTHER alertfrom the app yesterday. I can't work out how that could happen, How long does it take from exposure to being notified?

MiraWard77 · 19/10/2020 08:06

I don't know. I didn't get an alert from the app at all, was just notified via work.

I think I found days 5-6 hard. Give yourself a break.

I don't have a fever, so that's good.

Me. As of today. I’m waiting for a postal test. To make life totally pants a cup of tea now tastes like vodka. I also tried to eat a banana earlier and was nearly sick. Testing due to change of taste obviously. It’s boring and my son had to come home from school so he’s cross. We are both cross and grumpy and it’s rubbish...

1questionshootout · 20/10/2020 21:09

Dh had an alert from the Irish app, who then phoned him, and he is going fir a test tomorrow. Honestly, it’ll be good to get some actual results.

1questionshootout · 23/10/2020 06:52

DH test was negative, which is a relief. Just realised the clocks go back this weekend, so that's a whole extra hour of self isolating! No fair.
