I'm isolating, keep me company

MiraWard77 · 10/10/2020 13:05

Today I heard that a 'close contact' (work) has tested positive and I need to isolate for 2 weeks.

So I've separated myself from the family and am hiding out while I wait and hope not to develop symptoms.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Some Pilates/ hiit classes on YouTube. Depending on what you prefer

CatsCereal · 10/10/2020 21:57

My result came back as negative. Such a relief. I've been taking the guidelines seriously, but I feel a lot more anxious about it now.

MiraWard77 · 11/10/2020 04:41

Glad you got your results @CatsCereal, and can go out again. Well done on isolating. (I think you were isolating with symptoms?)

I am awake thinking about the laundry I can't do. Ridiculous.

That should be a good thing not something to keep you awake.
Did you watch The haunting of Hill House? I only managed an episode as I was too bloody scared.

Lemonylemony · 11/10/2020 05:05

DP has 3 work colleagues off sick waiting for test results, he’ll be a close contact if they are positive, will we both have to isolate if he tests positive? Not really possible for him to isolate away from me in our flat, one bedroom! But I cannot work from home Confused

Lemonylemony · 11/10/2020 05:06

If the work colleagues test positive I mean!

ssd · 11/10/2020 05:18

We are just finishing this. It's hellish. Too much time to think and health anxiety nit a good mix. I agree it's the waiting for the symptoms is the worst thing, every cough or tingle is a panic.
And now I'm scared to go back to normal, incase the infection is lingering. I'm still not back to our bedroom. I know its daft but can't help it.

Ha! I know, but it's more 'The school shirts need washing and hanging today, and I'm going to have to remind DH without seeming like a nag when he's already looking after the DCs single handed"

I did watch Hill House. I watched episodes 4 and 5. I could see where 5 was going quite early on. I used to love horror as a teen but I'm not so good at it now.

I followed it up with an episode of Ghosts on iplayer, which is fantastic!

If his contacts test positive, only he has to isolate unless he starts having symptoms. Then you both have to isolate.

Thanks Mira! I couldn’t get my head around in worrying in the middle of the night. Thing is, I had classic covid symptoms really early on at the end of Feb/beginning of March, before testing was available (and before self-isolation was bought in as well, I was dosed up at work until I physically couldn’t manage, can you imagine that now!), DP shared a bed with me through it, I reckon he must have had it asymptomatically anyway, so am sure he’ll be fine, but he’ll be a nightmare of anxiety and symptom watching if he has to isolate!

Hope your day 2 of self-isolation goes ok.... do you have a garden you can escape to if you stay distant from the family?

MiraWard77 · 11/10/2020 08:29

We do have a garden, and I do have some bulbs that need planting. But I'm holed up in our bedroom and to get to the garden I need to walk through the whole of the rest of the (tiny) house.

My plan is to get out there while the DCs are at school in the week. Probably won't get out today.

We've had lots of FaceTiming already this morning. Which is nice. Youngest DC understands that I have to have a Time Out because of coronavirus, but can't understand why it's so much longer than a time out he would have.

Still waiting for the results. Really not impressed with this. I've phoned the number to chase up, well over that 72 hrs time frame they suggested. Got told it's a waiting game!!

EdmundElephantIsACleverClogs · 11/10/2020 11:49

@MiraWard77 I know it's hard but try to enjoy relaxing Smile
I say that though and know myself I would hate being away from dd and dp for any length of time.

MiraWard77 · 11/10/2020 15:25

How are your solo Sundays going?

I've done a lot of work for tomorrow, and some laundry while the rest of the family have been out. I might go out in the garden and skip for a bit before they get back. I need to move around a bit!

OP posts:
MiraWard77 · 11/10/2020 16:55

Hmm, I have the beginning of a scratchy throat. Wouldn't normally notice, but hyper-vigilant to it right now, obviously.

Maybe i should start writing a will...

EdmundElephantIsACleverClogs · 11/10/2020 17:21

I have cleaned the full house, dd has now baked cakes, painted, made Halloween crafts and the full house needs cleaned again!!

Oh that's not so good, hopefully it doesn't come to much for you. Did you manage to get in to the garden?

MiraWard77 · 11/10/2020 17:36

I did, I did some laps of our teeny tiny garden. Back in my isolation room now, with the cat, who needs dining for breaking the quarantine rules.

Apparently no one else will feed her.

Chickenqueen · 11/10/2020 18:03

I have been doing a lot of reading and just cooking a roast now! I also have a scratchy throat @MiraWard77 but its hard to tell if I am being overly analytical of my body, feel like I am just waiting for it to come.

I also did a really good stretching video on youtube that I would really recommend for those needing to limber up a bit -

MiraWard77 · 11/10/2020 18:53

That's exactly it, @Chickenqueen!

If I wasn't sitting here thinking about it it'd be absolutely nothing.

Thanks for the stretching video. I'll have a look at that after my dinner's gone down.

Anyone else isolating today?

OP posts:
123rd · 12/10/2020 14:55

Sorry Mira, we got the all clear late last night, so chucked the kids out this morning!! Hope you are ok

MiraWard77 · 12/10/2020 15:09

That's great news! I bet you're so relieved!

OP posts:
Chickenqueen · 12/10/2020 15:56

I am still isolating Mira and we actually got tested today as myself and another flatmate have a mild cough - so could be another few days being added on if we are positive! On a side note, are you feeling really tired? I feel so sluggish which must be due to not moving around much ect...

MiraWard77 · 12/10/2020 16:08

I'm not tired, though I have sat down more than I should have today. (I am now typing this whist side-stepping and heel-digging).

You're likely tired because you have a cough and are under the weather. Give yourself a break.

I am keeping an eye on my steps (fitness watch) and am doing laps of my bedroom (haven't got outside today), squats, walking on the spot etc. I've downloaded Zombies! Run app and set it to measure steps in the hope of a bit of motivation. But I've been working most of the day and just haven't got round to it.

Hopefully your cough is not COVID. And hopefully you'll find out soon.

What have you done today? Watched anything good?

OP posts:
MiraWard77 · 14/10/2020 09:14

How is everyone getting on?

How are you feeling, @Chickenqueen?

I've got a scratchy throat and the beginning of a headache this morning. Could be nothing still.
