Is anybody else actively avoiding being tracked and traced?

I am actively avoiding anywhere that tracks and traces. Aside from having DC at school, which obvs I have no control over, we don't go anywhere (pub, restaurant etc) where they would need to take our details.

Reason being, I don't want to be at the mercy of someone who may have rocked up to that place and is now infected. It's more to do with the absolute balls-ache of having to self-isolate than a desperate fear of Covid, although you can never tell how you would get it.

Anyone else avoiding T&T?

Yes - because it's insane and doesn't work. inference-review.com/article/on-the-futility-of-contact-tracing

Surely if you never go anywhere that requires track and trace it’s a bit of a non issue?

safariboot · 09/10/2020 20:02

No, but it's crossed my mind.

But the only place I've had to leave details is the office anyway. I've just not wanted to go to any pubs or restaurants lately. Quite happy with a takeaway!

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 09/10/2020 20:02

Not avoiding it due to track and trace but more because we are only doing essential places to limit exposure. Too many aren’t following the rules so would rather avoid as many people as possible.

MissPoldark · 09/10/2020 20:07

Don’t you work or go to the supermarket?

@damnthatanxiety

Good. I'm glad you are staying away. I don't want people like you in society.
What a bizarre response.

I feel the same.

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 09/10/2020 20:10

So yours not avoiding track and trace... you're avoiding society in general so you dont risk catching it?

Have you downloaded the app just incase?

Asterion · 09/10/2020 20:10

I WFH, and they don't Track & Trace in the supermarkets I go to. I didn't think that supermarkets had to?

Supermarkets legally don't have to use QR codes.
HappilyHoppily · 09/10/2020 20:11

Depends on whether you’re taking about avoiding exposure (fine, and kind of the whole idea) or not caring about exposure but avoiding being identified (very not fine).

Why? Damnthatanxiety hasn't said she isn't complying where it's required but that she's avoiding places where it's required. Surely that's the safest way of all to carry on?

I'm avoiding giving my details where I can. I'm complying with all requests (not many becuae I'm not going to many places) but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it and I've turned off the tracking element of the app.

topcat2014 · 09/10/2020 20:11

No current plans to go anywhere that takes details

Whathappenedtothelego · 09/10/2020 20:11

We went out to eat and for days out that required booking into and leaving details a fair bit over the summer.

Won't be doing anything like that now, don't want to increase the likelihood of having to self-isolate.

The Dc are back doing some of the activities they enjoy, and back with their friends at school- don't want to jeopardise that unnecessarily.

U8myufo · 09/10/2020 20:11

Well yes by not going anywhere! If I absolutely couldn't avoid going to a particular place I would leave my (correct) details, but only if I had to go. I don't have a fancy phone so would only go where they are willing to have them written down. I am not interested in going to cafes, pubs, shops etc. I like to be outdoors, always have done.

I am specifically avoiding places where they track and trace.

My phone is old and full, I guess I could get the app. Hadn't thought about that.

Do you have to check in at work? We've (school) been specifically told by DFE not to and I've certainly never seen anything at the supermarket?
LyingDogsLie1 · 09/10/2020 20:14

Don’t you work or go to the supermarket?
I get my shopping delivered and work from home. I don’t think that’s unusual.

Do you understand... well, anything?
BigBadVoodooHat · 09/10/2020 20:15

I honestly can’t work out if that poster’s response was meant to be a joke and it’s whooshed over my head. Grin

If not, then personally I’m not so sure I’m keen on them roaming free in society! Shock
