How many times have you had to isolate?

How many times have you had to isolate and/or test so far? Either from lockdown or from schools returning?

We're upto 3 times now since the end of August, and I'm not sure how much more I can take of it. It's just seemingly like a continuous nightmare. Are we just unlucky or have others been in a similar boat? Sad

Isolate : none.
Test : one, when I had a throat infection during proper lockdown.

caughtalightsneeze · 05/10/2020 07:12

None. And nor have any of my friends, relatives or colleagues. Which is quite surprising as I'm in a high risk area.

Timeforanotherusername · 05/10/2020 07:12

Kids don't get ill now.

A few years ago it would have been different.

Ineverdidmind · 05/10/2020 07:13

No isolating and no tests. Yet.

Strugglingtodomybest · 05/10/2020 07:13

Zero and zero. I'm yet to know anyone who has had the virus.

caughtalightsneeze · 05/10/2020 07:13

Actually, after all this time, I still only know one person who has had it.

rosie1959 · 05/10/2020 07:13

Never but small market town very few cases

SueEllenMishke · 05/10/2020 07:15

Not once.
We have a DS in primary school and me and DH both work at universities. We've used pubs/restaurants and have been been away on two UK breaks.
We live in a hotspot area yet I only know of one family who have had to isolate so far.

Wowthisisreal · 05/10/2020 07:15

Once for 24 hours while we waited for a result. It was horrible with a small toddler so can only imagine what it would be like to do it 3 times. I'm assuming three short stints? Rather than 3 lots of 2 weeks? A negative result ends the isolation.

ClarencesMum · 05/10/2020 07:15

None

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/10/2020 07:16

Kids got sent home from school with cough in March, same time DH got back from a work trip to France (after a mad dash to the ports) and gd to work from home for 2 weeks. Since then, nothing. DH returned to work in April. Kids returned to school in September.

milkysmum · 05/10/2020 07:16

Twice. Once with symptoms, once when child had a confirmed case in school so was a close contact. Nephew is currently isolating as close contact an I know probably half a dozen other who have isolated also. Couple with confirmed positive test.

peanutbutterandfluff · 05/10/2020 07:18

Once for a week in March before testing. Twice since July whilst waiting for test results. I have a 1 year old in nursery.

BikeRunSki · 05/10/2020 07:19

Twice whilst waiting for results, both negative. 2 days first time, 4 days second time.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 05/10/2020 07:19

Zero and zero.

Pipandmum · 05/10/2020 07:22

None and I have two school age kids, one who went back part time before summer break. Didn't know anyone who has had to til this weekend: a friend's son at Uni. Six living together five tested positive.

thebabewiththepower · 05/10/2020 07:22

Son had to do two weeks as case in his bubble, he then got symptoms so we all had to isolate while his test came back. It took 4 days. I genuinely don’t know that I could isolate for 2 weeks in the house and not go out after 4 days of utter hell. This is why France reduced isolation to 7 days as people just can’t do it. Hopefully I won’t be tested again as I think I’d have to sneak out for a run in an empty field at some point.

boredinthouse · 05/10/2020 07:22

Isolated once when DS was sent home with a cough. Tested twice, DS once and me once as part of a study

cookiemonster5 · 05/10/2020 07:25

One test for my 3 year old just to ensure he could go back to nursery after an ear injection which left him with a cough. No isolation but we are very careful because 2 of our house are shielders.

Aquicknamechange2019 · 05/10/2020 07:26

Isolated once for 2 days due to needing a test after a throat infection. Live in London with DH and 3 primary aged children. I've had one test, back in July, which was negative. Results came back super fast in those days..

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/10/2020 07:27

1 - couple of days between ds getting symptoms and a -ve test result coming back

2 - in the midst of one dc 14 day self isolation due to a person at his school having it.

RedCatBlueCat · 05/10/2020 07:28

Once for the full 2 weeks mid march because DS had a cough. It was shit. Not a supermarket delivery to be had.
Once in September awaiting test results. It took just over a week. Tesco delivery was available that time round, so it was fine.

iVampire · 05/10/2020 07:28

Shield isolation from mid-March to start of June (when exercising outdoors was no longer advised against)

So that’s 10 weeks - or 5x 14 day isolations back to back

None since then, but I’ve stayed pretty conservative in my activities. DD’s school has had confirmed cases in two year groups, but not hers so far.

I expect it’s only a matter of time before I’m indoors again

Buckwheat80 · 05/10/2020 07:28

Isolate - none.
Test - once, a few months ago, when I developed a fever on a Saturday night, no other symptoms.Tested Sunday, negative result 24 hours later.

RuthW · 05/10/2020 07:28

Isolate - none
Tests - 8 at the beginning when work was in a research programme
