How many times have you had to isolate?

How many times have you had to isolate and/or test so far? Either from lockdown or from schools returning?

We're upto 3 times now since the end of August, and I'm not sure how much more I can take of it. It's just seemingly like a continuous nightmare. Are we just unlucky or have others been in a similar boat? Sad

We did a week in March before lockdown started as I was rather ill with something respiratory related, nasty cough, chest pain etc to be on the safe side. Whatever it was, it took me a good six weeks to recover.

Nothing else. Ds has been at school since mid August.

gingerwhingerwife · 05/10/2020 09:45

Once when I had a positive test.

iolaus · 05/10/2020 09:47

None, neither has anyone in the household

Several colleagues have (some multiple times)

I do know several people who have been confirmed positive - two hospitalised, one didn't make it - but didn't see them in the time period prior to their infection

Nat6999 · 05/10/2020 09:48

Ds had what we thought was Covid twice during February & March when it wasn't possible to get a test, the first time he had just returned from Italy at half term with school. He isolated in his room each time for 10 days as both my mum & me are vulnerable. My mum & I shielded from March until August, I had a couple of hospital appointments but other than that haven't been out in public at all.

StillDumDeDumming · 05/10/2020 09:49

I thought isolation didn’t end on a negative test result. You still have to do the 14 days. I heard this hammered home on the radio recently and it’s in the guidance. I think that’s if you’ve been told to isolate through close contact or had symptoms?

ThatsNotMySheep · 05/10/2020 09:51

Zero and zero.

We have 1 DS at primary school, 1 at nursery and I work in further education. DH played football with a confirmed case but wasn't a close contact apparently although he got a test and got the negative result the next morning if that counts?

Spidey66 · 05/10/2020 09:53

Once, during lockdown, with a negative test which came back in about 36 hours.

I knew it wasn't covid though, it was either a mild cold or a bit of hayfever. I'm in nursing so worked throughout, and my colleagues pushed me into testing.

PeachesTheFlamingo · 05/10/2020 09:55

No tests.

Currently pregnant, so have been WFH and shielding since late June. I'm a hair's width away from going stir crazy!

Saz12 · 05/10/2020 10:06

None!
I’ve been pretty careful as DD and I both have medical condition in addition to asthma, but not shielding.

TeenTraumaTrials · 05/10/2020 10:09

Zero and zero

I did have a weird change of taste in March before it became one of the symptoms to trigger isolation, but I suppose I was as good as isolating as I was WFH, getting shopping delivered and kids were off school. DH was going to work every day but the rest of us were trying to keep a bit of a distance from him as much as possible to avoid potentially catching it from him as he was high risk due to job.

There have been a handful of cases in local schools and one of DD's friends (from another school) has had to isolate due to being a contact. I'm dreading getting a call .......

Someonesayroadtrip · 05/10/2020 10:14

Zero.

Four children in primary school is its surprising. The school literally next to ours has 3 years self isolating. My husband works in people's homes.

But no isolation and no tests for us yet.

middleager · 05/10/2020 10:15

In March - Usually fit DS, 13, extremely high temp and lethargy for 2 days a few weeks after school trip to Italy. No tests available so just SI.

In April - me, high temp, tonsillitis type symptoms. No tests available. Height of doom and despair as BJ was ill too/you will all lose somebody you love (lying bastard), so I SI from family for a week, stayed in one room. We all SI for 14 days in total.

Sept - DS off school for a fortnight. He was in SI after positve case

yumscrumfatbum · 05/10/2020 10:16

Once, end of March my daughter had symptoms. No test option then.

GreenPlum · 05/10/2020 10:16

Four times while waiting for our own test results (all neg), but none because of contact with positive cases.

blobbyface · 05/10/2020 10:17

End of March when ds2 came home from uni and developed very high temperature a couple of days after getting back.

Last week when dd2 had high temperature, but fortunately only a couple of days as she had a test and it was negative.

bengalcat · 05/10/2020 10:20

No isolation and no test . To the best of my knowledge same applies to my friends and DD at University . So far !

Vivana · 05/10/2020 10:28

None and I work in a supermarket (not for long just given them my notice to quit)

Eccle80 · 05/10/2020 10:33

We’ve had to isolate and test twice, DH had a UTI that caused a temperature in June, and youngest had a cough last month. Both times we have had results reasonably quickly (36 and 26 hours from test), so only a couple of days of isolation each time.

With three children in school I am sure we will have to again at some point

anothernamereally · 05/10/2020 10:53

Once whilst waiting for dc test so only 24 hours
Once for 2 weeks after holiday

AriettyHomily · 05/10/2020 11:46

One isolation for three days until test came back negative. Dh is a secondary teacher and I'm amazed no bubbles have popped yet tbh. Kids in Y4 ask no reason to isolate, yet.

CakeGirl2020 · 05/10/2020 11:49

Not once

kimlo · 05/10/2020 11:53

@middleager he never said you will all lose somebody you love, what he said was many people will lose somebody they love before their time.

Neither is good, but it's not quiet the same thing.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2020 11:59

March 16th ds off school with temperature since the Friday and then we all had to isolate for two weeks.

August: come home with a cough, isolate for two days until test results came back.

September: two weeks circuit breaker for ds's year group. so partial isolation for the rest of us as well.

kateybeth79 · 05/10/2020 12:29

No tests and no isolating
