How many times have you had to isolate?

How many times have you had to isolate and/or test so far? Either from lockdown or from schools returning?

We're upto 3 times now since the end of August, and I'm not sure how much more I can take of it. It's just seemingly like a continuous nightmare. Are we just unlucky or have others been in a similar boat? Sad

OP posts:

We shielded from March to August
We had to isolate in June when my mum died
We had to isolate in July whilst waiting for a test
We have isolated for a week, as ds was ill with a fever, a week after school started.

BikeTyson · 05/10/2020 08:36

Zero. With a child in nursery (since July) and a DH teaching in secondary school.

Janevaljane · 05/10/2020 08:36

Once, early on, had symptoms. Tested negative.

I don't know anyone who's had confirmed Covid for months. I know one family who were ill at the very beginning of March who consequently tested positive for antibodies, other than that I don't know anyone who has had it.

Trinacham · 05/10/2020 08:37

Once had to isolate. Back in March DH came down with a continuous cough so he had to isolate for 1 week, me for 2.

Not yet had a test. Hope never to need it!

JumperTime · 05/10/2020 08:37

Once so far for the cardinal sin of going to work. Nothing to do with the schools going back, I think there's been about 4 cases in my ds's school of 1000 pupils. My workplace has 6 staff at any one time.

lljkk · 05/10/2020 08:39

0 for 0
My weak link was socialising adult DD -- but she was tested weekly thru work & is away at Uni now, anyway.

Closingtime94 · 05/10/2020 08:42

None

Two tests - one as I had a cough and a bad chest and again when I needed to be admitted into hospital (not covid related)

Janevaljane · 05/10/2020 08:44

Thats a point. I wasn't tested when I went into hospital with a broken ankle. Had a nice private room though!

ChavvySexPond · 05/10/2020 08:44

@iVampire

Shield isolation from mid-March to start of June (when exercising outdoors was no longer advised against)

So that’s 10 weeks - or 5x 14 day isolations back to back

None since then, but I’ve stayed pretty conservative in my activities. DD’s school has had confirmed cases in two year groups, but not hers so far.

I expect it’s only a matter of time before I’m indoors again

Christ. When you put it like that Shielding sounds horrendous. I hadn't thought of it in terms of 5x 14 day isolation back to back.
unfortunateevents · 05/10/2020 08:55

Once, now. Saw DS2 in uni a week last Saturday, he was notified on Sunday that he had been in contact with someone who was positive and we isolated immediately. He got a positive result last Tuesday so we will be isolating until next Saturday.

Thankfully we are both working from home and both DC have left home so it's pretty easy to do but I wouldn't want to have to do it again.

Pickagoddamnname · 05/10/2020 09:10

Isolate: zero
Test: four but either through work or the Zoe app not because of f symptoms

Qasd · 05/10/2020 09:11

Never

HoneyBee03 · 05/10/2020 09:14

0 and 0. I don't know anyone who has had covid either. I'd think that having to isolate 3 times already is unlucky, hope you're doing okay OP.

zafferana · 05/10/2020 09:14

Never had to isolate and never had to test - yet!

VoyageInTheDark · 05/10/2020 09:19

Twice isolating. Once in March and once in September, both times due to no tests available

Camomila · 05/10/2020 09:22

Isolate - Once in March with (probably) Coronavirus, I was in bed for 2 weeks.

Test - Once in August, we all had colds, me and DS1 had coughs with it and the baby a high temp. Had the test Sunday afternoon got negative results through Monday morning.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 05/10/2020 09:29

Self isolate & test, once. Dc went back to school on the Wednesday & then we came down with a cough on the Saturday. Back to school with - results by the Thursday. I'm sure it won't be the last time this side of Christmas as I've 4 in primary & 1 in nursery so lots of bugs.

Lostinagoodbook · 05/10/2020 09:29

Test and isolate 4 times since June while waiting for results. Twice for 1 year old being sent home from nursery with minor short lived temps, once for eldest coughing at school (turned out to be tonsillitis for all of us) and once in summer when we all had a cough. We had 2 inconclusive results that time so isolated longer. Waiting on 4th results now- was hoping to have them this morning.

@covetingthepreciousthings feel like no one else we know is doing this either....... you're not the only one, we are SO fed up. It's causing behaviour issues in eldest as he struggles with uncertainty -coming home to be told no school tomorrow as youngest has to get a test again has not gone down well.

Think it's a consequence of young children and using nursery...... friends I know are NOT testing and isolating for minor, short duration temps in toddlers- as they put it " that's stupid, we'd never be at work??!!" Well exactly :-|

ComicePear · 05/10/2020 09:32

Zero and zero.

Glitters100 · 05/10/2020 09:34

Twice, once because we had been in contact with and the 2nd time as I had symptoms. I’ve had one test and thankfully it was negative.

I’ve known 6 people who have died from Covid since March (all would still be alive if they hadn’t caught it), and a healthy friend got it in March and is still struggling with her health (breathing) now.

Marmite27 · 05/10/2020 09:34

With two children in nursery, and one newly started reception. DH and I are WFH though.

Lostinagoodbook · 05/10/2020 09:36

We would never have noticed youngest had a temp both times tbh, he was acting normally, just drooling with teeth. His temp was checked by nursery as he was clingy. Expect many many temps just over threshold are being missed in children under 5 for this reason.

Marmite27 · 05/10/2020 09:38

Littlest and I did get tested for a hospital stay last month though. DH will be having one at the end of the month before he has an op too.

We’re also in a high risk area. I only know one vague acquaintance who’s had it, and no one who’s died.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 05/10/2020 09:39

Isolate - once at the beginning of all this when the rule was isolate for pretty much any and all cold-like symptoms.

Test - none

StellaGib · 05/10/2020 09:39

We did a week back in March just before lockdown, then two weeks in September.
