Who is buying all the bog roll, again!? Why? Why do people fear running out of bog roll so much. Now need to waste the day trying to buy some 🤬

@MrsFezziwig

preppers, bulk buyers, panic buyers, horders all those translate into selfish people in my book.

Selfish people in my book are those who make no preparation for a situation where they might potentially have to isolate for 2-3 weeks but expect other people to bale them out.

Dim people are those who don’t understand the difference between the terms you have referenced.

all the above are still selfish imo even if they had to isolate for a couple of weeks who the fuck needs 80 /100 plus loo rolls unless they have a medical condition or a large family ??
LindaEllen · 03/10/2020 12:25

I didn't understand it last time, and I don't understand it now (but then again, actually, I ALWAYS have a spare 36 pack which lasts me aaaages, so I could be locked down for about 10 months and not run out!).

If it absolutely comes to it, you can shower after you use the loo. If it comes to it.

I mean, it's not ideal, but you wouldn't die if you ran out.

FippertyGibbett · 03/10/2020 12:33

I’ve got a spare pack of four that can go to the highest bidder 😉

Letseatgrandma · 03/10/2020 12:38

No 3kg bags of pasta available on Tesco online either.

Yoffel · 03/10/2020 12:41

Preppers do not buy loo roll during periods of low supply. That’ll be panic buyers. Preppers buy loo roll when supply is normal, chucking an extra pack in their regular shop every now and then, so that when panic buyers do cause a low supply propers do not need to buy any at all.

YOU’RE WELCOME.

I’ve been without a car due during lockdown so I’ve got into the habit of bulk buying when I have access to a car although Amazon has been my go to for toilet rolls and kitchen towels

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 03/10/2020 13:26

I always buy it bulk from Amazon, likewise kitchen towel, tissues, dettol wipes etc, much easier to have it delivered than traipse round supermarkets for it.

i guess this aimmed at me and thank you for putting that straight but there is really no need to shout or be sarcastic because that makes you sound a bit of a knob tbh.
Yoffel · 03/10/2020 13:37

Glad the penny has finally dropped.

Right back at ya on ‘sounding like a knob’

tbh

romeolovedjulliet · 03/10/2020 13:40

pathetic.

Gingerkittykat · 03/10/2020 13:41

Thats normal, white, unscented paper. Plenty of coloured, scented or quilted paper. Appears the panic buyers are discerning here

The only paper I could get at the beginning of lockdown was horrible cherry blossom scented stuff from Asda which immediately gave me thrush!

When I went to do my Asda on line shop the other day they didn't even have scented stuff, the only one available was a 6 pack of recycled rolls in paper packaging for £6. I ended up getting finding TP in the chemist when I picked up my prescription.

I got some in a groupon deal so I wasn't taking any out the local shops. Try your local corner shop rather than a larger supermarket too

romeolovedjulliet · 03/10/2020 13:44

are people buying from amazon or the like ? we are fortunate that dh works in a dark store so we are okay for getting supplies as and when we need them, but it must be difficult for alot of people where shelves empty quickly.

Tana433 · 03/10/2020 13:45

As an adult, you shouldnt really be in the position where you are running out of toilet paper in the first place should you? No-on is saying you should hoard it but you also dont wait til you are down to the last roll before it dawns on you to buy some more surely?

time4anothername · 03/10/2020 13:46

there's been no shortages in my area. Wondering if areas with high concentration of students might be getting it because they, or the unis that are supplying them, need to stock up for all of the quarantines being imposed?

The point of being a prepper is that you don't buy loo roll when everyone else is buying it. Preppers will have built up a stash of loo roll slowly (probably over a year or more) so no one noticed them buying it. This means they can use their stash at times like this, thereby reducing the pressure on scarce supply items so there is more for everyone else. If you're buying loo roll at the moment, or buying it in large quantities all at once, you are not a prepper

You're both wasting your time. Collectively, people are a bit thick to understand something simple, like the difference between a prepper and a panic buyer. Just let them get on with it if snarling makes them feel better.

I would love to know why toilet roll is the item of choice though. Why toilet roll?! Hmm

romeolovedjulliet · 03/10/2020 13:59

gamer i for one am shopping as normal, usual stuff no extra, if that's making me 'thick' so what ? i've already thanked yoffel for giving me the facts
hey, why am i bothering with this shit ?

TheQueef · 03/10/2020 14:02

GamerC I heard something on the radio last time, it's because it's non perishable, fairly easy to store and a recognised doom signal!

I just wipe my arse a lot I didn't really consider it that much.

TheQueef · 03/10/2020 14:03

TP.
It's serious business.

Well I'm not shopping as normal, I'm shopping as sparingly as possible so there's enough for those who need it while there's a hump in the road, just like I did with the panic buying earlier on in the year. I didn't go into a supermarket for the entire thing.

Because I'm a prepper and have been for many years.

I will not be lumped in with those people who take more than they need all at once and leave nothing for the rest.

It just boggles my head. There are other ways to clean your bum. Grin
HowFastIsTooFast · 03/10/2020 14:13

Oh god I've just bought 16 rolls but only because they were on offer at £2 for 8. Announced loudly to DP as I put them in the trolley that I'm not panic buying, I'm just cheap Grin

In fairness shelves are full here, even with the special offer!

Yoffel · 03/10/2020 14:23

I think the loo roll is a visual thing too. It’s so bulky that it only takes a couple of panickers before the shelf starts to look emptyish and it snowballs quickly.
