How many cases per 100,000 in your area?

I have become slightly obsessed about checking the figures in my area each day. We have 7 per 100,000 which I think is pretty low. What are the numbers where you live?

pjmask we're all jealous! Do you think people are really careful in your area?

@starfish4 people seem to be complying from what I've seen. It might be linked to the fact we are pretty sparsely populated but kids have been back in school for four weeks now, and there is no social distancing going on there. The local (ish) secondary school has a big catchment with lots of kids travelling in by bus, they are squeezed in like sardines on there. We also had thousands of visitors in August, I have never seen the town or supermarkets so packed.

21, and surrounding boroughs are slightly lower, but we’ll all get swept up in a local lockdown in a few weeks based on North London numbers.

You all know these figures mean absolutely nothing unless testing is consistent across the country, because you are all intelligent people?

More testing in a “hot spot” more track and tracing, means more “cases” per 100k. Most of which are asymptotic people who if they hadn’t been told to test wouldn’t even know they had it.

It’s the worlds most meaningless statistic. Deaths per 100k is relevant. This isn’t.

Oh - and 0. But as we have introduced new testing it turns out there are a few “cases” who are isolating, but if they hadn’t been tested no one would have a clue.

But most people in a hot spot area aren’t getting tested unless they have symptoms are they? Except if they’re being tested for work.

177, been in local ‘lockdown’ since end of July but it doesn’t seem to be working!

boys3 · 27/09/2020 21:24

highest 40 areas by cases per 100,000 for cases with specimen date 16-22nd September. England overall and median also shown.

Test positivity rates would be more relevant but that is not published at standard.
